1. Early Life

Jimmy Slothface was born in Pori, Finland to a Finnish father Otto, and a British mother Rose.  After living in Pori for less than a year after Jimmy was born, the Slothface family moved back to Rose's hometown of Darlington in the United Kingdom.  They would spend three years in Darlington, where Otto would take time off from his remote work as an engineer for Nokia to take Jimmy to the local ice rink in Billingham to watch people play hockey.  Rose, being the athlete in the family, taught Jimmy to skate when she wasn't busy with her work as a freelance software developer.  Rose soon received a job offer at a new tech company in California, and the family once again moved countries to live in La Jolla, California.  Jimmy would settle into his new Southern California home, seeming to enjoy growing up in the suburbs outside of San Diego.  He would play various sports as a child, but his time watching people play hockey led him to ask his parents for hockey gear.  Eventually they relented, and Jimmy would make his way to play for the San Diego Saints Squirt AA squad, and eventually would make his way to the Jr. Gulls 16U AAA team.  Jimmy enjoyed moderate personal success in club hockey, and ultimately helped his high school win the championship in his senior season.  After he graduated high school,  Jimmy started prepping for the SMJHL draft, hoping to catch the eye of one of the SMJHL GM's.  In a shocking twist, the Halifax Raiders eventually made Jimmy their first round pick, beginning his SHL journey.

4. Personal Life

Not a lot is known about Jimmy's early life before he settled in California.  And even then, outside of his hockey stats and a few school articles about his activities, Slothface appears to have largely kept to himself while growing up in La Jolla.  Although he seems reluctant to discuss his upbringing with the media, Jimmy previously hinted that he does not particularly enjoy going back to that area despite his parents still living there, feeling like a bit of an outsider.  One item that is known, is that Slothface's parents gifted him a "pet" roomba before he left for Halifax, which Jimmy named Rupert.  Slothface still owns Rupert and is known to take Rupert with him on road trips.  Halifax residents would often see Jimmy walking Rupert down the street, until one day Rupert ate too many leaves and had to go to the vet (vacuum repair shop).  Now Rupert is strictly a house vacuum.

Early in S45, Slothface was still living in a local hotel near the Raiders' practice facility when captain Dom Montgomery approached him about moving in with fellow captain Perry Morgan.  Jimmy eagerly accepted, and the trio of captains moved into an apartment together.  Unfortunately, Perry Morgan was called up to the SHL before the S47 season, and Slothface reportedly took Morgan's moving out very hard.  Luckily, Dom and Jimmy were able to put a ping pong table in Morgan's vacant room, alleviating some of Slothface's heartbreak.

In S46, the Halifax Raiders hosted their first ever official LGBTQ2+ Pride Night at home against the Detroit Falcons.  The Raiders ultimately lost that game, but Slothface did open the night with a goal near the end of the first period, assisted by captain Montgomery.  This was significant for Slothface, as the winger came out to the media pre-game, stating that he identified as bisexual.  Slothface cited his teammate, Montgomery, also coming out to the media as inspiration to be honest with himself and the public.  Although, Slothface was a bit taken aback when he was told that Montgomery told the media that he would not consider dating someone from the Raiders, saying "Is he serious... have you seen my thighs?"  Despite the largely positive response to the Raiders' LGBTQ2+ Pride Night, after Slothface revealed his sexuality, the media immediately started monitoring his social media looking for dirt on Slothface's dating life.  It was noted that Slothface and Anchorage Armada star forward Olivier Cloutier had been commenting on each other's pictures extensively, but nobody thought much of it.  That is until in late July of the offseason before S47, when Cloutier shockingly posted a photo to his public Instagram, showing Slothface holding Cloutier and kissing the SMJHL superstar on the cheek.  Cloutier captioned the photo announcing to the world that he was indeed gay, setting the internet on fire with rumors that he and Slothface were dating.  The Halifax media noted that Cloutier was seen at the Halifax airport before SHL players left for their respective training camps, but it is unknown if this was connected to his alleged relationship with Slothface.

Otherwise, in the S47 Official Halifax Guide, Jimmy lists his hobbies as playing video games, competitive sliding, learning to cook, watching romantic comedies, fireworks, ping pong, and oddly enough sailing... because he "enjoys when people tie the knots in the boat lines."  Odd.  Jimmy also spends time in the offseason supporting his Halifax based charity: one part sloth sanctuary and one part a school for children called "The Jimmy Slothface Center For Slow Children Who Can't Read Good and Wanna Learn To Do Other Stuff Good and Faster Too."  What a giver.

6. Controversy

Early in S45 of the SMJHL season, it was apparent that Jimmy Slothface and his Halifax Raiders teammates were going to be a problem in the Halifax night life scene.  After an incredible losing streak to start the S45 season, the Raiders celebrated their first win of the season out on the town, led by rookie forward Troy Reynolds.  After a few bars, and many drinks, there were reports of overturned cars in the street and police were eyeing Slothface and company as the culprits.  Ultimately, nothing would come of those allegations, but the Halifax Police would keep an eye on Slothface and his teammates.  Slothface would be investigated for his role in an alleged murder coverup benefiting his teammate Matt Kholin, his connection to the disappearance of a well known drug dealer in Halifax, as well as various other related crimes that season.  But the Halifax Police Department ultimately would never file any charges against Jimmy Slothface, despite the long file on the Raider.

Further, Slothface's S45 was mired in more controversy regarding his representation on the international stage.  When Slothface filed his paperwork with the league to apply for the SMJHL draft, he merely listed his hometown of Pori, Finland on his paperwork, failing to mention his British dual-citizenship.  Once Slothface realized his mistake, and that he would be playing with Finland instead of Great Britain in the international tournaments, Jimmy reached out to the Great Britain front office, receiving their blessing to transfer to his mother's home nation.  Jimmy cited his living longer in England compared to Finland, and the deep friendships he forged with fellow Brits Dom Montgomery and Perry Morgan in Halifax, as reasons for the move.  Unfortunately, rumors swirled regarding Slothface's transfer to Great Britain, with some alleging misconduct on the side of Slothface and Great Britain.  Ultimately Slothface and GB were cleared of the allegations, and he joined the British Isles for the S45 WJC tournament.

Finally, in S47, an expose by local Halifax media exposed Raiders' Co-GM, Ed Balls, as having multiple anonymous Twitter accounts that he used to bash many of the Raiders players, most often his target being Jimmy Slothface.  The accounts largely questioned Slothface's dedication to the Raiders after the franchise made him their number 1 pick, even going so far as to suggest that Jimmy lied to the team about an injury.  Ever since the release of the article neither Slothface nor Balls have decided to go on record to discuss the accounts, but rumors of tension in Halifax still run wild to this day.

Early Life:

In his early life, Jordan von Matt played as many sports as possible. He was obviously always a fan of hockey, but enjoyed football, basketball, and baseball, playing all of them into high school. He played baseball briefly in college, but left the team after his sophomore year in order to focus on hockey.
Jordan's parents were also fairly athletic in their younger years. His mother played field hockey, while his dad played basketball, and even coached up until his late 40's. Jordan's brother wasn't nearly as athletic as the rest of the family, but instead found a career in statistics. The two brothers joked that his brother should help Jordan in his hockey career with advanced analytics.
Jordan studied at the University of British Columbia in Canada, where he earned a degree in Business with a minor in Marketing. He hopes to put the degree to use when his hockey career is over.

Player Name: Jøln DuBølk
2. Playing Career

DuBølk was drafted 39th overall to the Lethbridge Lions in the SMJHL in the S45 SMJHL Entry Draft, with his draft stock falling due to not making an appearance in the Prospect Tournament in Anchorage.

In his first season with the expansion team, DuBølk proved early that he would be one of the cornerstones of the team's defense, achieving 5 goals and 10 assists on the struggling squad. Because of his locker room "hype sessions," he was assigned as an alternate captain. His sophomore season is where DuBølk shined: while only scoring 2 goals, DuBølk served up 29 assists, the team leader in that category. Although they lost in the conference semifinals to the Armada in 5 games, the future looked bright for DuBølk.

In S47, DuBølk is moving back to his more physical roots, becoming the team's shot blocking leader.

DuBølk is currently awaiting assignment to the SHL's Tampa Bay Barracuda.

Player Name: Nick Brain

1. Early Life
-Nick was born in Shrewsbury, England

2. Playing Career
Nick was drafted in the third round (24th overall) in the S45 SMJHL Entry Draft by the Colorado Raptors. Nick spent his first season on the bottom 6, scoring just 7 goals and 6 assists in 50 games, but got a more important role as the playoffs approached, scoring 6 goals and 4 assists for Colorado during their playoff campaign that ended in a semifinal exit.

Nick was then drafted in the 1st round (11th overall) in the S46 SHL Entry Draft by the Winnipeg Jets, in a pick that proved to be unpopular amongst Jets fans and was considered a "reach". Brain was returned to Colorado for his sophomore season, but despite getting top 6 minutes, struggled to produce with 13 goals and 9 assists in the 50-game season, as Colorado stumbled to a last place finish and a first round exit via the Halifax Raiders.

Nick was a late cut from the Jets training camp in S47, and was returned to Colorado for a 3rd year. Brain was elected Colorado's team captain at the start of S47.

3. International Play
Nick represented the British Isles in the S45 and S46 World Junior Championships. In S45 Brain was used mostly in a checking role, before progressing to the British top line in S46, scoring 11 goals and adding 13 assists in 27 games. Nick was also chosen for the Great Britain team in the S46 IIHF World Championships, but only collected an assist in a minimal 4th line role during their silver medal-winning performance.

4. Personal Life
Nick lives in the offseason with his parents Martin and Jolene, who work for Wayne Enterprises in their Calgary branch. Nick is a fan of video games, in particular the Street Fighter series, and is regarded as a high-level Street Fighter Alpha II player in particular, winning a 64-man torunament sponsored by the Colorado Raptors at InGen Arena.

5. Honors, awards, and achievements
S46 Winner of the Zach Miller Trophy

6. Controversy
Nick has been embroiled in a feud with controversial TV analyst and coach Dan Curry. Curry objected to Brain's SMJHL presence due to his frequent pro-North American stances, leading to an incident where Brain was seen jawing with Curry during the SHL Draftee Showcase, after Brain's Team World scored on the Curry-coached Team North America. An incident took place in LaGuardia Airport where a member of Curry's family alledgedly spit on Brain, and a potential fight between Curry's entourage and Team World players was broken up by airport security.

1. Playing Career
Espen was drafted 9th overall to the Detroit Falcons in the S46 SMJHL Entry Draft and started his first professional season on the third line. He finished his rookie season with 4 goals and 17 assists and was heading into the playoffs on the second line where he hoped to increase his production. He repaid the coaching staff for their belief in him by singlehandedly knocking out the Vancouver Whalers in his first postseason series, scoring 5 goals in 5 games, 3 of which were game-winning goals and one being a late game-tying goal leading into one of the GWG. After being knocked out to the runner-up Kelowna Knights in the second round in S46, expectations soared for Espen heading into his sophomore season, S47. So far, he has met the expectations head on by leading the Falcons in scoring through 38 games, and also being among the league's top scorers. Player Name: Joseph Lombardi
1. Early Life
Joseph Lombardi was born on February 24, 2000, in Voorhees, New Jersey, to Ralph Loverdi and Meredith O’Connelly. Joseph’s father Ralph played in the NHL from 1988 to 1992, when a devastating calf injury ruined a promising career that included a Calder Trophy in 1989. Growing up, Joseph played hockey, soccer, and tennis, but chose hockey as his main sport at the age of 9. Joseph played youth hockey at the Skate Zone for a youth team affiliated with the Philadelphia Flyers, but would stop playing in the summer, as he spent time with his Irish relatives (his mother was born in Dublin). When speaking about this later, he said, “I’ve always felt Irish at heart. I was born in America, and trained there as well, but I had a lot of Irish blood in me. My mom is Irish, and my dad is half-Irish on his dad’s side. When it came to representing a country, Ireland was a no-brainer.” Joseph had a storied high school career, scoring 124 points in 30 games for Eastern Regional High School’s ice hockey team, and starred at Vanderbilt University before declaring for the SMJHL Draft.

Player Name: Nat Emerson
1. Early Life

Nat Emerson was born in Boston, Massachusetts to parents Maurice and Nadine. Nat was born with the ice in his veins. His father was a well known winger for South Boston High School with his sights on college hockey until he tore his MCL and ACL in a bench clear brawl against Boston College High School. His mother was an accomplished speed skater, making the US Olympic team three times. The middle child of five sons, Nat seemed to never leave the rink. Watching, playing, or reffing mite games, Nat never shied away from learning the game or taking a beating when skating with his older brothers.

Growing up, Nat originally played wing in hopes to follow is the footsteps of his father. Nat inherited everything from his father except for his hands though and could never put up the goals like his old man. His size, penchant for taking the body, and passing skills led a coach to put Nat on the back end and things seemed to just click.

2. Playing Career

When eligible for the SMJHL, Emerson went undrafted. Luckily for him the Detroit Falcons decided to sign him as a free agent before the start of the season. Emerson spent his first year in the league working on his biggest deficiency, skating. After all his hardwork, he was drafted by the West Kendall Platoon. Emerson remained with Detroit for one more season, making it to the championship series of the SMJHL only to fall short. The next season, he joined WKP and has recently signed an extension with the club.

3. International Play

Emerson played for Team USA in the World Juniors for a single season, winning a silver medal. After that he was contacted by Team Latvia and asked to join because of his Latvian heritage. So far he has played in two IIHF tournaments with Team Latvia and has once again earned a silver medal with the club.

Physt was born on a farm just outside Regina, Saskatchewan, on September 12th 1994, to Dick and Rachel Physt. Growing up on the farm in Fort Qu'Appelle, most of his early life was spent raising and caring for the many animals and dealing with the many duties on said farm. Richard learned to skate at the age of 4 with the typical Canadian story, a frozen rink, made by his father in the hay field. From a young age, Physt grew up Idolizing Chris Pronger and followed his career extensively. From the ages of 13 to 16 Richard would bounce between, Ontario, Alberta, and Minnesota highschool programs before earning a tryout with the Regina Pats at a training camp. It was there that he heard about the SHL and the strength it had as a professional league. Failing to make the Pats roster, Richard Physt went to the SHL's equivalent, the SMJHL. Preparing for its 38th Draft, Physt went 37th overall to the Kelowna Knights and began his journey.

2. Playing Career

Poopity Scoop began his professional career with the Detroit Falcons of the SMJHL. Drafted twelfth overall, he is widely considered to have been severely undervalued as he was selected after uncelebrated players such as Taurus Karazija, Xena, Antonio Calculon, and Jerry Larry. Nonetheless, he made his mark in his two seasons with the Detroit Falcons, helping them to a strong Season 44 despite not going as far in the playoffs as most expected. This season, he set the Falcons all-time plus/minus record and earned the Vyacheslav Onoprienko Trophy as the league's most underrated player.

He would go on to the SHL in Season 45, making an instant impact for the Minnesota Chiefs and becoming a unanimous choice for the All-Rookie team. He followed up that season with a stellar sophomore campaign where he established himself as one of the SHL's up and coming stars, improving across the board and registering 35 points. Helping the surprising Chiefs battle their way into the Eastern Conference Finals, Poopity Scoop was nominated for and won the inaugural Bojo Biscuit Trophy, awarded to the league's top defensive defenceman.

Player Name: Hercules Rockefeller

1. Early Life
Hercules was born in Hamilton, ON to two hard working parents. He didn't have a rough or tough life growing up, mostly because his parents were such hard workers themselves. They made sure that Hercules had everything in life that a boy needed. One of the biggest expenses they saved up for was hockey. They put Hercules on skates at the age of 4 and never looked back.

2. Playing Career
Hercules was drafted into the SMJHL 3rd overall by the Halifax Raiders. Halifax was stacked with some of the best juniors, but unfortunately could never put it all together and win the 4 star cup. In the SHL Draft, Hercules went 3rd overall again, this time to the Edmonton Blizzard. He has stayed with the Blizzard his whole career, culminating in a Challenge Cup victory in Season 45. He is currently in Season 47 with Edmonton.

3. International Play
Hercules is Canadian, but after being informed that he would unlikely crack the Canadian roster, he defected to Ireland and suited up for them in the IIHF. What a move it was, as Team Ireland has now won 5 gold medals in a row. Hercules has been an important piece in this Ireland takeover and they are still looking to add more gold to their pot.

5. Honours, Awards, Achievements
In Season 45, Hercules won his first Challenge Cup. Also in that season, Hercules achieved the highest plus/minus in an SHL season with a +42.

Geezus Kryyst grew up in Raytown, MO where his parents still live. He lived far enough out from the next town that his only neighbors were his cousins, who were seven and nine years older than him. His dad wasn't into hockey, and neither was the rest of his siblings, but his cousins were all in.

As his cousins were several years older, they would put him in the net and just use him as target practice. Calling it "playing goalie" would be too much of a stretch. That's how he first was introduced to hockey. When asked about this, Geezus says, “Sometimes I would run home crying because I got hurt or something like that, but I would never stop. I would be back at their house the next day, ringing their doorbell and begging them to play with me.”

When asked who his SHL icon was, Kryyst stated it was Jordin Fourfour.

“I loved everything about Fourfour. His pads and especially his mask, I loved how it looked. When I was 10, Fourfour and the Texas Renegades made this great run to the Four Star Cup Final, and I was dying to hear the result of each game the next day. I cut "FourFour" out of cardboard letters and pinned them up in my room along with other posters I had of guys like Chico Salmon and Maxim Horvat.”

2. Playing Career

Wilson has had a phenomenal playing career, with 15 seasons currently under his belt. He started his career with the now-defunct Seattle Riot in S32. His time there was filled with turbulence in team management, and the team as a whole never saw much success. Despite this, Wilson was able to flourish. Acting as team captain for a few seasons, he was able to really hone his game into one of the best in the league. After 7 seasons in Seattle, the fourth wave of rebuilds came in, but Wilson did not survive this one. After putting up career numbers with over 50 points, Wilson was traded to the West Kendall Platoon. This was a much more successful team to be a part of, and is the part of his career he is most famous for. In terms of individual accolades, he continued to put up over 50 points in the next 6 consecutive seasons, to make it 7 total. He finished top 10 in point and goal scoring numerous times. Over that span he was top 3 in total points, making him one of the most consistent players in the league. As a team, West Kendall was able to win two cups during his stint. Wilson has since transitioned into a third line role to provide some depth scoring as he approaches retirement.

Player Name: Tig Murphy
1. Early Life

Murphy was born in Dublin, Ireland, and began his sporting days with rugby and hurling before developing a passion for ice hockey. Access to the sport was rare in Ireland at the time, and Murphy was forced to develop with more informal training sessions and without an organized league. He was scouted by a North American prep school during an international tournament and left home to develop in Victoria, Canada. It was here that Murphy gained international attention for his abilities and developed quickly using resources that were unavailable to him in his home country.

2. Playing Career

After declaring for the S42 SMJHL draft, Murphy was selected 10th overall by the Detroit Falcons. Murphy enjoyed a stellar rookie season, scoring 31 points and leading the team's first defensive pairing. In the S43 SHL draft, Murphy was selected 4th overall by the Hamilton Steelhawks and returned to junior. Prior to his second season, he was named captain of the Falcons, a position he held for both S43 and S44 (31 points and 34 points, respectively. In his last two seasons, Murphy and the Falcons would lose in Game 7 of the semifinals both times.

Murphy would make his SHL debut in S45 and, despite a strong start, would finish with a disappointing 11 points on the year despite an elevated role on the depth chart. His performance called into question his potential as a top player in the league and forced a response of support from his teammates and the organization itself. Murphy would go a long way to silencing these critics as a sophomore, scoring 34 points and prompting the short-lived and ultimately failed #Tig4Richan movement, claiming that going from possibly the worst defensemen in the league to an above average was as big a breakout as one could have. Murphy is currently in his third season with the Steelhawks, with 23 points in 29 games and having led the team in scoring for the entirety of the season.

3. International Play

Murphy began his international career with three moderately successful campaigns with the Irish World Junior Championship team, winning a silver medal in S44. He was also promoted to the World Championship squad for the first time in S44, winning his first of three consecutive gold medals at the top level of international play.

4. Personal Life

Little about Murphy's personal life is know. In early S46, a rumour circulated that Murphy acted as an adult film star under the alias Girth Brooks, but these were vehemently denied by both Murphy and the team, who revealed that it was in fact teammate Donnie Dicks who was the porn actor. The experience created a divide between Murphy and the media, and he now gives solely team-related interviews.
