S47 PT #5 - Cover Athlete

For the cover of the next SHL video game, SHL 48, I think that the cover athlete should be the man, the myth, the legend, Tor Tuck @ErM . I choose Tor Tuck because he excels in all areas in the game. Tuck is a perfect all around defenseman who really can get it done in all situations. Tuck can score, pass, defend, and play physically. He has an absolute cannon of a slap shot and opposing goalies duck out of the way to spare themselves the pain of saving it. He has great vision and is an excellent puck mover and can hit his teammates with slick passes for easy goals. Defensively, he is a juggernaut and can lock it down on 5 on 5 or on the penalty kill. He is also one of the most physically imposing players in the league. He is never afraid to lay somebody out or drop the gloves to stick up for his teammates.

The cover athlete for the new SHL 48 video game should be New West Kendall Platoon winger Sophia Bennett. Bennett has been a superstar in the SHL for a long time and there's no better choice for the honor than her. Bennett being traded to the Platoon was a huge deal and the league could capitalize on the excitement of her playing for a new team. Bennett is electric on the ice and undoubtedly one of the SHL players that people will enjoy sniping goals with on the game. Bennett's career has been incredible up to this point and she shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Bennett's sustained success in the league and high level of play should be recognized by the producers of this game. When hockey fans are shopping and see a game with Sophia Bennett on the cover it's going to be a game that immediately catches there interest. Sophia has been an excellent representative for the SHL over the years and somebody that's always been viewed in a positive light making her the perfect choice for the new game. @goilers

With EASports making an SHL edition of their hockey series, the SHL and EA are left with the question of who should be on the cover. They should look no further than this past season's leading scorer in DeMaricus Smyth (@Blastmeaway). Smyth is one of the younger talents in the SHL and definitely made his mark in his breakout season for New Orleans. While New Orleans fell flat in the playoffs against Texas, Smyth's presence during the regular season and his consistent showings in the IIHF Worlds, Smyth has made a very solid case on the ice for why he should be the SHL's cover athlete. Off the ice, Smyth has been a consistent presence in management and has yet to give any doubt as to his character. If you're the SHL, why wouldn't you want your cover athlete to be someone who is both good on the ice and is a very good person off the ice as well?

Viktor Marius(@karey )came into S48 being touted as one of the SHL's elite offensive forwards, and he did not disappoint. During the 50 game regular season, he had exactly 50 points while almost perfectly balancing, as all things should be, his goal and assist tallies. He did all of this while playing on the second line for a deep, contending Buffalo squad, which is another feat in itself. Marius also played a strong defensive game recording nearly 200 hits and 18 blocked shots throughout the season. Another reason Marius should feature on the cover of the next SHL game is because of the leadership role he has fulfilled in Buffalo that is forming an identity as the model SHL franchise, as other franchises clown themselves to the bottom of the leaderboard. Buffalo is currently two wins away from a second straight Championship appearance, and their most likely opponent at this point will be the Calgary Dragons who have been in the headlines a lot recently, and Marius hopes to once again send them to the front page as the loser of the S48 Challenge Cup.

My vote is for the cover athlete to go to Calgary's Rainbow Dash. A young player in the Dragons organization, Dash has made a huge impact right from the start. Looking at her playoff performance so far this season it's hard to say that the Dragons up and coming star isn't at least worth consideration for the league's recognition. Starting out the playoffs with a 4-goal game against the Blizard was certainly not what she or her teammates were expecting, but it was very much welcome. Moving forward we'll see if Dash can keep up the performance. And who knows, if the Dragons can keep up the performance they've had so far this season, maybe the cover can be Dash lifting the cup above her head.
