S48 PT #1 - SHL Draft Kit S48

STAV’S 3 BOLD SHL PREDICTIONS

Los Angeles Panthers Sneak into The Playoffs

Let’s face it, the Panthers are partway through a rebuild. Historically, they haven’t been the most successful SHL team, but this season they have a fighting chance to do the unexpected - make the playoff series.

As the standings currently sit, the West is in a log jam - the 2nd place New Orleans Specters have 16 points in 15 games, while the seventh place panthers are only two points behind with one game in hand. Some may argue that a quarter of a season is too little of a sample size to predict the playoffs, but the truth is that there is more parity in the western conference than ever. With Picard, Mauldin,Toner, Higgins and Winter, the Panthers have a legitimate identity and a genuine chance of climbing into the post season, provided that they stay consistent offensively.

West Kendall Platoon Will Be Eliminated In Their First Round

That’s right – like I said, parity in the league (and especially in the west) is at an all time high. The Platoon have been a dominant franchise, but their luck is bound to run out. With teams like Hamilton, Tampa and Toronto  in the mix, it’s not entirely unreasonable to suggest that the Platoon will meet their match – these  teams are hungry.

New England Wolfpack Will Finish Last – and lose the draft lottery

What a disaster year…. The Wolfpack have seemingly taken a nosedive from fringe-playoff status last year to absolute rebuild mode this year. The New England Wolfpack’s window has definitively closed. With only 4 wins thus far, they will battle with Manhattan and Chicago for worst team – possibly ever – given New England’s luck, I wouldn’t be surprised if the draft treats them poorly. They are truly the Ottawa Senators of the SHL.

Get ahead of the Awards report:
The SHL Hockey guide looks ahead at some of the surprise entries and strong contenders of next seasons Award nominations

Aidan Richan: The Most Improved Player of The Year Award looks to be going to one of Nikolaus Klaus or Alex Andani at this point in time. Both of these players are in their first season with the same team, the Tampa Bay Barracudas and both of these players are having amazing seasons as of right now. Nikolas Klaus is 2nd in the league in points in only his 2nd season while playing on the 3rd line while Andani is centering the 1st line he too is a point per game. It can go to any of these 2 and the race between the cudas can turn interesting.

Scott Stevens: Kristaps Ball is another Barracuda who looks to be turning heads. An early candidate for the Stevens, he is a point per game and having a career year. I'm sure he can keep it up and get at the very least a nomination.

Ryan Jesster: Matt Kholin and Akashi SixNine are some Barracudas who are looking to grab some hardware. Both of these rookies are having a stellar rookie season that I'm sure will land them a nomination.

SHL Dynasty report:
What young players in the SHL should you draft and stash? here we target those players who will one day turn into draft day stars.

When it comes to a rookie to draft and stash it would have to be a guy like Charlie Serpe. Serpe is a defenseman put of St louis thay is already up in the SHL and looking to put his mark on the league. Serpe knowing he could jump at a young age made sure to focus on his defensive game and set him self up for a bottom 6 role on the back end. Even in a situation like the Serpe knows that he is still very young face the SHL and needs time to grow and has plenty of time to develop is offensive game and thays his plan. Focus of being a steady guy on the back end that can block shots and throw a hit or two but in a year or two is when he will really excel. I'd things stay on the path he is following he will be a top notch defenseman that will take a 1st round pick to grab.

SHL sleepers and undervalued players:
We give you some sleepers to pursue and value picks to consider in the upcoming league drafts.

For me the West Kendall Platoon picking up young defenseman Chuck Crutchfield is one of the best pieces of business that any team has done across the entire off season. Not only does he bring a solid locker room presence but he bolsters a slightly thing Platoon defensive corps and extends the compete window for the Florida franchise. He put up thirty points in preseason, second only to Rex Kirkby among WKP defensemen, and has exploded into the regular season putting up Steven's level numbers next to partner Karsten Kadinger. Overall it looks like it will be an exciting season both for Crutchfield and fans of West Kendall and long time general managers JR and Wongy will be absolutely stoked at gaining such a high quality player who was developed by another team. Texas will be kicking themselves that they weren't able to sort out a deal and one has to wonder what exactly is going on behind the scenes at the Renegades when their franchise players of tomorrow are upping sticks and leaving to the competition.

Bold SHL predictions:
This article discusses some of our boldest predictions about the upcoming S48 season.

The Syndicate Miss the Playoffs

I believe that even though the Chicago Syndicate have won the pre-season on the Eastern side of the SHL, I believe that they will miss the SHL Playoffs this season. Even though Chicago was a wild-card team last season, this writer believes that due to the growth of the teams within their conference, the Syndicate will find themselves outside looking in when playoffs loom around.

The Manhattan Rage Make the Playoffs

Even though the Rage sit outside of a playoff spot in the Preseason, I believe that their strong roster will carry them to a playoff spot by the end of the season. The team is too talented to miss the playoffs, and with their young roster continuing to grow, it is only a matter of time before they make a serious dent in the playoff picture.

Tampa Bay Barracuda Make Playoffs as a Wild Card

Maybe the wildest prediction out of all of the predictions made here, this writer believes that the Tampa Bay Barracude has the tools necessary to challenge for a wild-card position this playoff season. With the young team perennially missing playoffs since their inception and move from Seattle, I believe that the youth injection that the Barracuda have recieved over the past season is enough to help them to the post-season in season 48.

SMJHL prospects to draft and stash:

Want to get a leg up on them good young players in the juniors? Hockey News looks at the prospects to target currently playing in the SMJHL.

In this report, we will be talking about some of the promising prospects that are currently playing in the SMJHL. We will be focusing on the current prospects who are playing for the Detroit Falcons. An obvious leader on this team is forward Raino Kyllonen (@CKT) who is a prospect of the Buffalo Stampede. Kyllonen has been a constant presence on the Falcons first line for multiple seasons now, and he has been scoring a lot of points along the way. Another strong prospect in Detroit is Espen Knutsen Jr. (@Randominoe) who was drafted by Tampa Bay. Along with Kyllonen, Knutsen Jr. has been finding plenty of success on Detroit's first line. Currently on the first line with them is another Stampede prospect, Josh Driver. Savoli Tankovic (@ItssYoBoiDaLegend), Kalvins Zvejnieks (@Gobbles), and Lunga Gumba (@Pingy Pingu) round out what is probably the top 6 group of forward prospects on the current Falcons roster. There are also a couple of very promising defense prospects on the Detroit roster, including Miikka Salo (@mcgriddleluver) and Satoshi Zizagooney (@TheWoZy). Look for these Falcons to enter the SHL in the next couple of seasons and perform at a high level.

Bold SHL predictions:

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, madames et monsieurs, gather around and here a bold and shocking prediction for the upcoming SHL season. Please, those of you who are faint of heart, find a seat or even leave the tent entirely so as not to endanger your precious health.

Alright, for those remaining, I have convened with the spirits and danced with the fairies and can now bring you the amassed wisdom thus gained. The Manhattan Rage, darlings of the SHL intelligentsia, will fail to make the playoffs this season. What’s more, this failure will lead to a bad juju invading their locker room, leading to internal strife and discord. The eventual outcome will be the start of yet another re-build in Manhattan. The team will further flounder in the standings for some time and chaos will rule the day.

Why this must be so is, as yet, unknown. Perhaps there is some bad karma in management’s past. The answer lies shrouded in mystery. The only certainty is the unfortunate outcome.

SHL Dynasty report:
What young players in the SHL should you draft and stash? here we target those players who will one day turn into draft day stars.

Nickolas Klaus (@Noble) and Nolan Sawchuk (@Jepox) - These two were a dynamic force when they played together in Kelowna during their time in the SMJHL, and they're proving to be incredibly valuable assets with Tampa Bay as well. Klaus and Sawchuk put up 68 combined points during the preseason this year, and as of the time of this writing, they boast an impressive 29 points between the two of them in fifteen regular season games played (with Klaus leading scoring for the team with six goals and thirteen assists). They are also both seeing time on the power play, which should boost their numbers. Despite being a popular target for less than optimistic predictions in recent memory, the Barracuda are looking more intimidating as time goes by, and will only be improving as their impressive stock of youngsters comes into their own. Watch for these two players to make their mark as the team improves, and consider grabbing one or both of them for your fantasy forward lineup.
