S48 PT #2 - The SHL Network
#31

Show title: Toko-Swagg

The SHL Network's next biggest hit will feature two of the Colorado Raptor's most beloved sons. Julio Tokolosh @Julio Tokolosh and Ja'Aj Coitus-Wagg.

The premise of a hockey playing cow and a scrappy guy from public housing running around and causing havoc in all the SMJHL cities. Julio grew up on a farm, and learns a lot from Ja'Aj in their travels, gambling, human women, and drinking are all subjects explored.

Julio shows Coitus-Wagg how being a heifer can be pretty sweet - and teaches him things on the farm: fishing, hanging out with other barnyard critters, chewing cud. for this part of the series, think about that show with Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie when they were on a farm (they might make a guest appearance).

A great friendship from two people/humanoid farm animal and their fun adventures are highlighted in this series.

One of the thriving areas in our league media is our SHL podcasters! so what better show for the new SHL network is there then a weekly 'Best of Pods' broadcast on Mondays from 5-8 PM. The show would be called '#SHL POD-tastic' and it would take the best segmants of the 10-12 weekend pod shows we have and play them. The show itself would look similar to what ESPN does with the Stephan A. Smith show, or what they did with Mike and the Mad dog on the YES network or what they do with the Jim Rome show on the CBS sports network. As an example.. Segmant 1 could start with a @Slappydoodle and @Bonk rant on an HO ruling! a commercial break and then to a discussion @JKortesi81 had on the Hall of Fame additions for S47! another commerical break which would be followed by clips of the new mobamba pob by @cpetrella !

I think there's a super obvious show that would go on SHL Network. Actually, there's a few obvious shows. I'm going to just kind of give the rundown of them.

Step one, we're going to get players, coaches and general managers from Cup winnings teams to do a review and look back at their Cup winning series where they talk through the changes they made and how they won as we show clips of the games. That's just the most obvious thing you can create.

Beyond that, we're going to have a behind the scenes show that will go behind the scenes of training camp and build care for the little people like @ImShiny who have great personality and are working hard to make it out of the camp while showing what goes into running a team and the conversations and discussions that are had.

Finally, the most obvious show of them all -- the Top 100. @ArGarBarGar already does it every season, collecting information and putting together the Top 100 for each season. We would have it in S50 as the Top 100 of the past 50 seasons, but meanwhile every season could just like the NFL Network have a new Top 100 show and have players and analysts appear to discuss why certain players are the best in the league at the time. Already, we have three programs that can fill a ton of time, along with replays of games or live games, we would have a ton of content to fill our schedule!

An old man's dream ended. A young man's vision of the future opened wide. Young men have visions, old men have dreams. But the place for old men to dream is beside the fire.

Live from Manhattan, we introduce "Rage in the Cage," a combat-based contest where contenders must go 5 rounds in the octagon against a member of the Manhattan Rage. Oh, hold up, it can't be that easy...each round, they will face a new, tougher to beat opponent. Every round they survive gets them a higher prize, and they can choose in between rounds to "throw in the towel," take their earnings, and walk away. If they elect to continue the gauntlet and are defeated in the middle of the round, they lose everything. The lone exception is if they actually manage to defeat an opponent. They earn double the cash for that level if they ultimately throw in the towel between rounds, though lose everything else except the normal prize for that round if they are later defeated mid-round.

The early levels of the gauntlet feature rookie forwards, such as Jakub Novak (@Esso2264), progress into older, wilier players such as Turd Ferguson frontrunner Poopity Scoop (@Baelor Swift) and leading up to the final challenge should they want to compete for the grand prize of $1,000,000 after four rough and tumble rounds: Reginald MacIntyre (@GoonerBear), fresh as a Highland spring breeze and ready to rob you blind if you dare get greedy.

This show will run on Thursday nights at 9 barring conflicts with SHL games, only on SHL Network.

Behind the SHL - a behind the scenes look at the players and personnel that make up the SHL.

A relatively unoriginal premise for an SHL Network show, but one that many fans - hardcore and casual - will watch. We all watch hockey games for the fast-paced action, highlight goals and bone-crunching hits. Not to mention the drama that constantly unfolds between rivals and occasionally teammates. Does that carry over into the dressing room? In most cases, no. But Behind the SHL plans to add a reality TV angle to the game that brings those relationships to the forefront and follows players through their day to day lives as an SHL superstar. Equal representation of each team would be nice, but we're going for ratings here. Expect some favoritism when the drama follows one team more than the other, not to mention better teams in general. Running time would be between 30 mins to an hour, depending on the content of the week's show. Playoff shows would be an hour or more.

The program I would love to see on The SHL Network is a show in the same vein as Open Gym, the behind the scenes happenings of the Toronto Raptors. We could call it "Rink Access: Behind the Ice".

Basically, cameras would follow each team off the rink, whether it's practices, team meetings, workouts, leisure time, anything that gives the viewers a VIP view of their favourite players. I think it would be a great way to show just what goes into running a team or what players go through during a long season. Fans love these behind the scenes shows and I think it would really help the SHL's exposure to more fans.

From Monday to Friday, Rink Access would air for 1 hour, with 2 teams sharing that 1 hour slot. Then, on Saturday and Sunday, it would run for 1 and a half hours and feature 3 teams. Basically, every team gets 30 minutes of air time each week. A good amount to get a taste of what goes on, but not too much where you're in the way of the team operations. I think fans would love it.

This league is full of some funny guys. To that end, at 9 pm, I propose a new show called "Quick Puck". This one is a fast paced panel comedy show all about thinking on your feet. With recurring guests and rivals from the S47 class Tony Ford and Jax Duggan, plus a rotating cast of other funny players around the league, hosted by the one and only former international GM Ed Balls, the show will consist of 3 rounds.

First, a rounding up of league news, with players expected to fill in gaps of articles with as many quips as they can come up with before the true line is revealed.

Secondly, an old but ever rewarding premise, caption that. Players are shown various stupid photos, and whoever comes up with the best caption wins a point for their team.

Finally, the Fuck the wolfpack round, where everyone just makes jokes about how bad the wolfpack, halifax and any other team that comes to mind is. This one is just for fun, and the points are all completely irrelevant anyways

My pitch for the show is called SHL Duos. We take two close SHL players from each team and have them compete as partners in physical challenges both on and off the ice. The show would last for 15 Weeks with 1 team getting eliminated each week. Eliminations are purely based on skill, not voting or any of the other regular reality TV tropes. This would be somewhat akin to Ninja Warrior but geared towards teamwork. We would have eliminations style competitions where the worst two teams will have to face off in an elimination match. Episodes would ideally be an hour long. We would shoot to air the show live with a slight delay for the inevitible flaring tempers from some personalities.

I have created a smaller roster for just 4 teams as a sample.

Representing the Minnesota Chiefs will be:
Collin Gibbles & Mathias Seger(@Segi )

Representing the Los Angeles Panthers will be:
Hiro Fujikawa(@"Marley") & Borromini Cannellini(@ArGarBarGar )

Representing the New Orleans Specters will be
Jimmy Slothface(@slothfacekilla ) & Michael Fox(@FuzzSHL )

Representing the Chicago Syndicate will be:
Martijn Westbroek(@JNH) & Kit Smeb(@kit)

The Top 100 Players of Today!

I have done a written component of the top-100 for a long time now, taking over the mantle from Abdeezy back in the early S20s. It has gotten a lot of traction, and based on that I think it is an obvious idea for a television show on the SHL Network. Each show would do as the written article does, starting from number 100 and working its way down through the course of a half hour or an hour. Players would get highlighted, we could have guests or regular hosts who discuss the players in question and how they got to the place they were and we would finish it with a high bombastic presentation of the top-10 players in the league. They would have a lot of time dedicated to them and commercial breaks would be used to add tension for those wondering who is the top player! Could be the highlight of the network, other than the playoffs and everything.

SHL: Five Hole Hunting

Go behind the scenes of every single SHL team in this 16 part series and take an in depth look at the training and regime the goalies have to go through. See their daily struggles that you don't get to experience during the game. Watch how hard it really is to drop those pads down on the ice and close the gap. Featuring analysis from people you've never heard of but seem to know what they are talking about, commentary from dinosaurs of yesteryear who never even played butterfly style, and random dramatic montages of goalies throwing water bottles in anger LIKE YOU'VE NEVER SEEN BEFORE. Will your netminder turn out to be a complete tool, or will they be a true gentleman of the mask? There's only one way to find out, and that's by tuning into Five Hole Hunting, the greatest fakeumentary that you've never seen.
