The Silly Backstory:
Sad news from the SHL Marketing Department. Long-time SHL sponsor Viagra has decided not to renew their sponsorship and will be pulling out of the partnership. Several SHL players will no longer be receiving their monthly shipments, and as such may struggle to "keep it up" in the regular season. Luckily, the business professionals in the Marketing Department have reached a new partnership agreement with Trojan brand Numbing Condoms! This new partnership may allow some players to stay strong and continue their performance longer than anticipated!

The Task:
Option 1: Identify a player or a team who overperformed on the ice in preseason who you think will have trouble keeping it up in the regular season. (25+ words and tag anyone involved)

Option 2: Identify a player or a team who was impressive on the ice in preseason who you think will be able to sustain this strong performance throughout the regular season. (25+ words and tag anyone involved)

All members who meet the criteria will receive 1 capped TPE

THIS PT IS FOR SHL PLAYERS AND SEND DOWNS. IT IS NOT FOR SMJHL ROOKIES.

Any posts with malicious intent will not be graded.
Deadline: Sunday, 10 PM EDT

Perry @"Flareon4043" Morgan definitely overperformed in the preseason. How else can you explain him having more points and having a better preseason that Guy Zheng? I'd expect his stats to revert back to the mean in the regular season.

I think the Chicago Syndicate were impressive in the pre season, performing above expectations to finish second in their division. They'll definitely be able to keep it up during the season in my opinion since the strong lines of @nykonax helped bring out the best of bums like Corey Kennedy (@SDCore) and Martijn Westbroek (@JNH).

@goldenglutes Guy Zheng underperformed. Anything less than 3 points per game and no goals a game is underperforming for a player his caliber. I saw his true potential and I truly believe average game stats should be : 2 goals a game, 3 assists per game, 9 hits per game and a fight per game too, winning said fight as well. I expect him to crush all of the league records if he can play up to his capacities.

Kit Smeb @kit was definitely overperforming out there Like 14 goals is impossible for a player like him unless he's playing against 5 year olds. This is clearly shown in the regular season already, where he's a -2 and has no points while some of his teammates are over point per game. He blames it that he isn't getting enough minutes, but he doesn't deserve those minutes and should be relegated to the 4th line.

Darnell Johnson scored more goals in preseason than he did in the entire last two seasons combined, and because of that, we think he's a prime candidate for the Viagra™ "Keep It Up" Player of the Week ©. Undoubtedly a fluke due to his whopping 24 minutes per game average with shifts on the notoriously active Anchorage Armada 2nd Pair, the 1st PK unit, and unusual for him the 2nd PP unit. With a reduction of his overall workload and a shifting of responsibilities yet to come, expect to see Darnell Johnson's PP dwindle.

One will have to wonder what other factors may have contributed to Darnell's uncharacteristic number of points from this season, and certainly the recent influx of rookie defensemen to the Armada's roster is playing a part. For the first time in Darnell's career in the SMJHL, he's playing at the top of his team. The Anchorage, for the past few seasons, have had a relatively stacked defensive corps, which is now just down to himself and former line partner Gabriel Johnson. While he's been picking up slack through the preseason, expect to see young Darnell pushing rope sometime soon.

The Toronto North Stars were definitely overperformers in preseason. their GM has essentially admitted they are trying to tank and yet they somehow ended up with the best record in the whole damn conference... No way they can keep that up in the regular season, and @ml002 will be happy to know it

I hate to keep tagging the same guys from s47, but they have the wildest statistics, and the easiest to remember usernames, and no one gets me up quicker than seeing them make waves. This weekend, the motion of the ocean that is slamming against my bulkhead is @Carpy48 in net for the Toronto Peter North Stars. Are those pads regulation? He's pulling a save percentage above .900 but is getting his net filled to the tune of 3.15 scores a night. With 1648 shots to take, that's a pretty good sample size, no matter how much DNA you need. With the defense of a wimpy boyfriend that mute's the TV when broads are commentating, this babe of a goalie is going to keep getting hit on. That Ha[i]ry Carpet can only say no to the good stuff for so long. hopefully the D shapes up prevents the excessive loads from piling up. The only pearlescent sheen in the crease should be the tender's helmet.

Boner puns, aside: I'm really rooting for Carpet to maintain the .901 (maybe improve?). Hoping for Carp's sake that the defense cuts the rookie goaltender's shots-against down a little.

I think Lil Manius is going to have trouble getting to the same level as he did in the preseason. 43 points is not something we should expect Manius to attain, as he is simply a worse version of the Big Manius, and not ever going to amount to anything. Frankly, the fact he was able to score 43 points in the preseason is the luckiest thing in the world.

In other news, @Bonk smells.

Gottlieb-Odilo-Dankward Mczerhl is a part of a proud hockey family with a long tradition of putting up some massive numbers. The Mcz’s have been well known for just crazy points, minutes and everything else.

So what is a defenseman to do? Especially a defenseman that has shown a much greater propensity for the defensive side of the puck than the scoring side.

That is where the little blue pill of Minnesota comes into play.

Now ensconced as the coach of a team without a huge amount of advanced talent right now, God Mczerhl is set to spread his wings. I expect big things out of the Teutonic titan of the blue line this coming season.

Option 2:

One player who won't have an issue keeping it up is Harry Carpet @Carpy48 who led the preseason in wins with 31, three of which were shutouts. Carpet's impressive campaign through the preseason saw him face a total of 1648 shots and once all was said and done he sported a 0.904 SV % with a sparkling GAA of 3.15. Carpet's performance was anything but an aberration as this was only the beginning of what will be a lustrous career for the Toronto netminder, and I for one look forward to seeing him keep it up as he heads into the regular season.

Khabib Nurmagomedov finished last season with just 10 goals and 5 assists on the third line. In the pre season he outperformed all his projected stats and finished with 41 points in 50 games with under 15 minutes out on the ice. The dedication and motivation Khabib has will strike fear into other teams’ hearts as he’ll only get better from here. After being called a reach, Khabib is on a mission. He'll definitely be able to keep it up.

I feel bad talking about a single player and pointing him out and saying he underperformed but I guess it is somewhat of a compliment. If you look at the players, one name really stands out and that is Liam O"Callahan. He had only 16 points for a guy that is drafted almost every year and really high up in the fantasy.
@Dangles13 my bad broski. I think you will be fine in the season once the lines get all back together for Texas

Option 1:

To be honest, probably Gabriel Johnson ( @Gwdjohnson ). How did this clown hit 39 points? He'll probably be outscored in the regular season by rookie dmen like @Ferda and @golden_apricot , before Hamilton accept he's a bust and trade him.

I think NEW will keep up its playoff-making performance. It has a young group of players, which brings the team average stamina up considerably over the competition. NEW also took the 3rd most shots in the league, giving them good opportunities to improve and score.
