PGS S49 - Game #13
#16

Despite the ferocious power and scoring demonstrated by both teams present on the ice, the second period was a complete goose egg on the scoreboard for both. Don't let that fool you though, the second period had many close calls that could've easily swung the game. At 2:39 into the 2nd Period, Andrey Barbashev II made a wicked shot that rang off the post of the Detroit net. If the shot had been just a few inches to the side the game would've been a one goal game, potentially leading Kelowna to a comeback. At 14:55 into the same period, the same bad luck struck for Aleksandr Scherbak. Despite losing the face-off twice in a row just prior, Aleksandr rang another shot off the post that potentially could have done the same as Andrey's attempt earlier, and if both had succeeded we'd be looking at a completely different game result. In the end, it's all what ifs and what could've been, but the result is an unchanged resounding W for the Falcons.

This game was over just as quickly as it started, with Detroit winning 4-2 over Kelowna today. The Falcons were able to score 3 of their 4 goals within the first ten minutes of the drop of the puck. Detroit dominated the game out shooting the Knights 30-20, and dominating the physical play with 19 hits compared to 13. Besides the three stars for this game, Emiko Specter deserves an honorable mention for his performance tonight. Specter only gave up 2 goals in this win, improving his record to 2-1. And, with the help of the Falcons defense, kill 3 out of the 4 penalty kills he fought off for the win.
