After holding the Potato for over 50 minutes last game, Knight can’t seem to shake it off of her. The offensive defenseman hailing from Canada has had a relatively subdued season so far, putting up 9 points (2 goals and 7 assists) in 21 games. Playing on the second line pairing, she’s averaging over 22 minutes a night. I don’t think her performance has been up to her standards so far. The Potato doesn’t care about stats, cold streaks, hot streaks, or analytics. It jumps to whoever was chosen and makes a home, for however long. Knight doesn’t seem to mind having the excess heat of the Potato. Especially on this night, as she looks to break out. She potted only her 2nd goal of the season while also scoring the winning penalty shot in the shootout to give Halifax the W. I don’t think she’ll look to get rid of the Potato quickly seeing as her play looks much better with the possession of it, but the Potato has a mind of its own.

The Potato has spoken. And it wanted off of Haley as it felt she served her purpose. 46 seconds into the game vs Colorado, Knight’s eyes changed to a blood red color and she seemed to gain extra speed out of nowhere delivering a punishing blow to the Raptors’ Crudelli. The Potato clearly liked his next mark using its supernatural powers to land on its targeted player. Crudelli is one of the top point scorers in the SMJHL this year and perhaps this is the reasoning for the Potato’s sudden exit.

The Potato has chosen wisely as shortly after it made its leap from Knight to Crudelli, Calogero ripped a wrister top shelf to tie the game at 1. Together, the Potato and Calogero could do great things. However, it doesn’t seem like a mutual agreement between the two and more one sided than anything. Crudelli was seen whispering his thanks to the Potato before running into Atlas Rush dishing off the Spud in what would turn out to be Crudelli’s only hit of the game.

Ah, clearly Crudelli has drawn the Eye of the Potato as not long after Crudelli’s hit on Rush does Rush return the favor straight back to Crudelli, once again sticking him with the Potato. It seems to have a certain affinity for Calogero. We previously thought that the Potato didn’t care about stats or analytics and picked its victim based solely on its own logic. But perhaps it runs deeper than that and the Potato is more stat based than we thought? One has to assume that the Potato likes Calogero for his knack of putting up points, but we’ll need more evidence to back up this claim as the season rolls on.

And so the evidence building begins. The Potato made sure that it would live to see another game while held by Crudelli. He had no more points after his initial goal, but we’ll keep an eye on the pairing as we continue on in the season. Has Crudelli accepted his fate as the Potato carrier or will he look to dish it off again? Will this hurt or help his already fantastic production?
