After an exciting, but disappointing end to the WJC Team USA bid for gold, player/GM Strom Chamberlain approaches the podium for the post-elimination interview.

Why will next season's Team USA WJC squad have a better showing?

What is your message for any rookies that have not cracked the roster yet?

Looking ahead to the SMJHL season, how many of @Mutedfaith's shots do you expect to block with your new and improved build?

Danny, thanks for the questions.

1) My favorite kind of ice cream is Cookies 'n Cream.  I'm definitely team Oreo whenever I can.

2) Excellent question.  Until this season, all of our teams have been comprised of the most veteran players regardless of their ability or talent.  You could think of them as glorified All Star teams that compete internationally instead of in the same league.  This year, we actually decided to go for a system and were able to pick our players to fit within that system.  It was a new concept, not only for team leadership but for the players as well.  They had to find new teammates to mesh with and we had to pick out those that we felt would work best within that system.  While not making the expected gold medal game, as many had hoped we would, was a setback...the overall feel from Team USA is that it was a success, and now that all of our eligible players have a better feel of what's going on...next year we will all be able to play more fluid and dynamic instead of just rolling the dice so to speak.

3) To all rookies that haven't cracked the roster yet, don't despair...and definitely don't let anyone give you the impression that you'll never crack the roster...both for WJC and the parent IIHF.  I was told the same thing when I first signed on for Team USA, but I was patient and it paid off.  It will pay off for you as well.

4)  There's no question that between my untimely suspension and my hand injury early in the season set me back overall for Season 53.  Coming up for Season 54, I've participated with a whole new conditioning program that our coach in Anaheim, Tibuk Soonika (@chetib) came up with.  My performance in WJC for the most part was just a preview of the effectiveness of that conditioning.  I wholly expect to block all of his shots coming up this year...not only because its my job, but just to aggravate the Detroit great for the heck of it.

Hey Zoltan, no.   The plastic would be a bit too chafing, and it would be distracting trying not to pop all the bubbles while playing.

We've got you, Johnny, down on the prospect list. You should be getting a locker-room invite soon.  If you keep up your activity level for your team, and in training, you just might make the roster.

Interesting question, Drizzle.  I would say south, just on the sheer fact that there is less hockey that direction than there are the other three cardinal directions.

Anyone else?
