Introduction
It is October 15th, and we are here in anchorage for tonight’s game of the outlaws vs the Armada. The Outlaws bring an impressive 5-2 record into tonights game, while the Armada are struggling at 2-3-1. Outlaws have been dependant on their goalie tandem to win them games, while the Armada are looking for more out of their top line.

Tonights Story Line:
Will Anaheim be able to rely on the hot goaltending they have recieved early in this season, or Anchorage finally be able to find a way to put up some goals.

1st Period
The puck is dropped, there are just under 5000 fans here for tonights game!
The scoring would open at the 4:13 minute mark of the first period on a point shot from none other than BORK LAZER! The Armada open the scoring of this game for 1-0 lead, and would ultimately take this lead into the second period. The rest of period was pretty uneventful, other than the Armada taking a penalty at 15:58 and killing it off.

2nd Period
Buckle in everyone as the second period was a heater, and started almost as fast as the first period. At just 5:10 Rhys Pritchard would tie the game off the rush, with Harry Walker and Rikard Hammarberg picking up the assists, it’s a tie game folks! The play is starting to heat up, and both teams are really getting their legs under them. Just after 5 minutes later it would be Taylor Gervais! A quick snapshot off the wing, and the rookie picks up his first goal of the season, 2-1 Armada! Just like that though, 1 minute later the Outlaws come steaming back with a goal from bud light lime! 2-2 game folks! Just like that though the Armada would not waste any time, just 4 minutes later the Armada would strike twice! Goals coming from Ryan Cvitkovich and Cyril Vyskoc, both picking up their first goals of the season. This would be the end of the scoring for the 2nd period which would see the Armada take a 4-2 lead!

3rd Period
The Outlaws are going to need a big game back this period, as they are also getting worked on the shot clock. It would not start out good for the outlaws with the Armada striking just under 2 minutes in with Chris de Siren adding another goal for the Armada making it a 5-2 goal. Ultimately this would be a sign of things to come for the Outlaws as the Armada would score another two goals in the third period from Stan Hanson, and Santtu Rasanen. This would make the score 7-2 for the Armada, and mark a big win for the team!

Final 7-2 Armada

3 Stars:
1. Ryan Cvitkovich (1G, 2A)
2. Bork Lazer (1G, 1A)
3. Chris de Siren (1G, 2A)
Seven by Seven

The Armada came out guns blazing on this fine evening. The Armada started the evening as the underdogs with a 2-3-1 rating against the Outlaws who boasted an impressing 5-2 record. What fans got was a complete team effort by the boys from Anchorage. Seven players scored seven goals through out the game. With Bork Lazer starting off the scoring with his first of the year at 4:13 in the first period. The Outlaws managed to tie the game twice during the second with Pritchard and Bud Light Lime each recording goals. However the Armada didn't give up with Gervais Cvitkovich, and Vyskoc all netting markers. Cvitkovich with the game's eventual game winner. With the start of the 3rd period, the Armada came out with an all-out assault with three more goals from de Siren, Hanson, and Rasanen. An absolute blow out from the Anchorage Armada against the favored Anaheim Outlaws.

The turning of the tides
With the sound of the opening buzzer, the home crowd didn't stop cheering until the final seconds, and with good reason. The Armada gave it their all on this game, scoring 7 goals to the Outlaw's 2. However, the turning point in this game didn't come until near the end of the 2nd period. The Outlaws tied the game 2-2 with a goal from Bud Light Lime at 11:21. A few moments later the Armada let out a shot barrage of goals from Cvitkovich at 15:13, his first of the year followed by another goal only 12 seconds later at 15:25 from Vyskoc, also his first of the year. This set up the Armada to go into the 3rd period up 4-2. They went to score another 3 markers in the final period for a final score of 7-2. A great outing for the boys from Anchorage.

3 Stars of the game
First Star: Ryan Cvitkovich - Cvit desperately needed this game, coming into the 7th game of the year with no points, he recorded his first two assists and first goal of the year. He set up Bork Lazer in the first to start off the scoring. An all around effort by this Anchorage vet, keep an eye on him to keep this trend going.

Second Star: BORK LAZER - LAZER came into this game in a bit of a scoring slump, but he broke the tie early with an even strength shot that saw him record his first goal of the year at 4:13 in the first. This blue liner also had an assist for his second of the year.

Third Star: Chris de Siren - Chris came in and owned the third period. He tallied his first goal of the year to start off the scoring at 1:56 and had assists on the next two goals for 3 points on the night. Expect to see great things from this American sniper as the season goes on.

Comment 1: Defensive Rating Analysis
This game was really high scoring. But who was best player in defense? It was Anaheims' center Taylor Johanson who was one of the bright spots in Outlaws' defense. His defensive rating was 79 and he managed to get neutral "plus-minus" rating in a game where opposing team scored 7 goals!
Let's now take a look at the worst defensive player in this match. And without any surprises this player is from Anaheim Outlaws. It is right winger John Forfeit whose defensive rating was really low - just 32. His "+/-" rating was -2 but he managed to block a shot so he also did something good in that game.
Now let's mention players who also was great in defense and managed to get 70+ rating - Thorbjorn Gunnarson (76), Joorgustraad DuBolk (73), Ulrik Bergstrom (71), Ethan Price (70), C.T. Carragher (70) and Bork Lazer (70).

Comment 2: Offensive Rating Analysis
Now let's take a look at offensive rating. There were 6 players whose offensive rating was atleast 70. The best offensive player in this game was Armada's right winger Chris de Siren whose rating was 82. He ended match with 3 points - 1 goal and 2 assists. He scored all of his points in 3rd period. Despite his offensive performance, his "+/-" rating was just 1 so his defense let him down a bit.
The worst offensive player was left defender Chet Hiller from Anaheim. His rating was 43. Everything he did in offense was just one shot on goal.
Other notable mentions - Stan Hanson (78), Ryan Cvitkovich (76), Rhys Pritchard (73), Santtu Rasanen (72) and Thorbjorn Gunnarson (70).

Comment 3: Best and worst player
Now I want to take a look at players who had best and worst overall game rating.
Best player of the was Armada's right winger Thorbjorn Gunnarson whose game rating was 74. He was the only player whose both, defense and offense, ratings was atleast 70. He had an outstanding "plus-minus" rating of 3 which happens quite rare. He also gave one assist in this game. Despite his high game rating, he wasn't named as one of the three stars of the game.
Now let's take a look at the opposite side. The worst player of the game was Outlaws' left winger Sergei Voskoboynikov whose rating was terrible - 44. Sergei played just 9 and a half minutes but managed to get -3 "+/-" rating. I think he might overplayed his shifts because on average he played about 1 minute and 20 seconds per shift.

Three Stars Breakdown
Ryan Cvitkovich was the best player on the ice all night. An easy 1st star selection as he had 1 goal and 2 assists in this dominating win. He was putting shots on net all night long he could have had many more points.
Bork Lazer on RD was so flashy tonight he looked like he belonged in the SHL. 2nd star of the night with 2 points, 1g , 1a.
Chris de Siren rounds on the winners in the 3 stars as he also had 3 points. Any other night he would have won first star but tonight lots of top guys came out to play for Anchorage.

Comment 2

TOI Leaders

Anaheim had a tough night but they were led in minutes by their D pairing Emilia Bergman (23:49) and Joorgustraad DuBolk (23:13). These two had a tough night defending against the Armada who were firing on all cylinders. The top forward for Anaheim was Center C.T. Carragher who played 21:39 and managed to be even on the night. He had 3 shots and a strong game overall but he couldn't get a point and help his team on the scoreboard.
Anchorage was lead by two defenders Matthew Sawful (21:42) and Bork Lazer (21:18) Lazer was one of the stars of the game but Sawful had a bit of a tough night. He was -1 with 0 points but he did manage 4 shots on net. The leading forward was Santtu Rasanen a center who played 19:31 and had 1 goal along with 5 shots!

Comment 3

Faceoff Battle

The winner Armada did win 31-24 total faceoffs. Their leading taker was Santtu Rasanen who took 21 faceoffs and won 11 for a 52.4% ratio. Braden Lowrie went 6-2 to help his team out with a 75% win rate. Cyril Vyskoc was 5-6 for a 45.5% rate and a few others chipped in here and there. On Anaheim we see C.T. Carragher with 19 faceoffs. He went 9-10 for 47.4%. Next up is Rikard Hammarberg who went 5-8 for 38.5%. Hubert Andrews was 4-3 and 57.1% on the night. Lastly Center Taylor Johansson went 2-3 for a 40% rate tonight. The best great work of Anchorage Armadas Braden Lowrie to go 6-2 really helped his team win the possession game on the night which is a long but important battle.
Oh no Outlaws

You don’t have to look any further than the scoreboard to see that things didn’t go well for the Anaheim Outlaws.  The Armada dominated them for the vast majority of the game scoring I the first five minutes and then netting three goals each in the second and third periods.  I say vast majority because outside of the early goal the Outlaws actually played a close game for the first period giving Anchorage all they could handle before the floodgates opened.  While we’re still early in the season this game really seems to be the exception not the rule seeing as they’ve only allowed more than three goals one other time through their seven games to date.

Aggressive Armada

If before this week started you’d forgotten that there is an SMJHL franchise in Anchorage I wouldn’t blame you.  They started the season with a set of back to back games, but then didn’t play their third game until a full week after that and now just finished their third of four games in five days.  While the schedulers haven’t been kind to Anchorage their forwards certainly have.  Through five games this season the Armada are averaging a healthy 4.2 goals per game while holding their opponents to just over half that.  The Armada seem to have found their recipe for success: a dash of suffocating defense with a sprinkle of explosive offense puts them looking like early cup contenders to start the S54 season.

Words 126

What took you so long?

There is sticking by your goalie after a couple unlucky goals, but then there’s whatever the Outlaw coaching staff was doing against the Armada.  The fact that Strom Chamberlain was between the pipes long enough to allow seven goals is absurd.  He clearly wasn’t up to the task today after allowing 4 through the game’s first 2 periods and once Separa Borro was put in he posted a pristine 1.000 save percentage.  I hope that Anaheim’s coaching staff can learn from this mistake and don’t squander what has been an impressive 5-2-0 season so far because their skaters are showing up every game and if they miss out on the playoffs this year the blame should fall squarely on the coaching staff.

Three Stars of the Game Analysis
1. Ryan Cvitkovick
Cvitkovick was a force in this game with the go-ahead goal that started the destruction of the Outlaws at the hands of the Armada. His offensive game rating was third on the team, he was tied for first for the highest +/-,  and had a blocked shot and an assist. Playing like this on a regular basis will earn you records, not just stars.

2. Bork Lazer
For a defenseman, Lazer showed up on both sides of the puck. a goal and an assist pair nicely with his 2 shots, one blocked shot, and two hits. The third highest defensive game rating helped him secure the second star in this absolute bashing of Anaheim.

3. Chris de Siren
de Siren had the best offensive rating in the game (82), and had all four of his shots on target, resulting in a goal and an assist. His defensive game wasn't especially impressive, which is likely why he's only third star in this smash of a game.

Comment Two (125 Words)
Boat Team Not Bad?
The Armada shelled the Outlaws like a true armada would any opponent, putting up 50 shots and chasing Strom Chamberlain off the ice with just under 12 minutes left to play. Not only did Anchorage put out a large number of shots, but they played physically as well, recording 27 hits against an Anaheim team that was demoralized after the second period. If the Armada can keep these numbers in the games to come, they might be able to buck the meme of "Boat Team Bad" that has been circulating over the past few seasons. The Outlaws can only hope that Chamberlain had a poor game or there was some defensive flaw in their tactics because numbers like this is how you miss the playoffs.

Comment Three (132 Words)
The Bright Spot for Anaheim
Despite getting absolutely pounded by The Armada, a few of their players had a pretty good game. The one that stands out the most is Taylor Johansson, who, while not having any flashy stats aside from taking 3 shots, one of which was considered a Missed Shot, finished the game with not only the highest defensive game rating (79) but also a respectable offensive outing for a 7-2 loss with an offensive rating of 63. These resulted in the highest game rating on the team at a 72, which is nothing to turn your nose up at when getting beaten so badly. If he can play at the same caliber when not in a losing situation, he could be earning one of the three stars of the game on a regular basis.
Third Time’s the Charm - 114 words

This was the third meeting between these two Western rivals so far this season.  Both of the first two were won by the Anaheim Outlaws, the first being a 3 to 2 victory in Anaheim as the season opener for both teams, and the most recent just two days ago here in Anchorage with another close victory for the Outlaws with a score of 2 to 1.  Not wanting to fall too far behind the West leading Outlaws, the Armada made sure to get the needle going back towards their favor.  They made sure of it by scoring early and not letting off the gas to give Anaheim any chance to control the game.

Explosive Number Two - 131 words

With the first goal of the game being scored by Anchorage’s Bork Lazer at 4 minutes and 12 seconds into the first, it would take almost another 21 minutes until the next goal was made, this time by Anaheim’s Captian Rhys Pritchard.  This opened up the flood gates for goals, as there were 5 in total scored during the second Period alone, 2 by the Outlaws and 3 by the Armada.  With every goal by the Outlaws, there was an answer by Anchorage, such that Anaheim never had the lead for a second of this game.  The last two goals by the Armada were scored within 12 seconds of each other, first one by Ryan Cvitkovich and the quick follow up by Cyril Vyskoc, both their first goals of the Season.

Young Outlaws - 129 words

The Rookies for Anaheim were instrumental in their two points that they were able to put on the scoreboard for the night.  They were able to account for 2 of the 4 Assists and 1 of the 2 Goals in the contest.  Harry Walker was the first Assist in the first goal in the second Period, and Ryu Jones was the second Assist in the Bud Light Lime Bud Light Lime Goal that came 11 minutes into the Period.  Harry Walker and Ryu Jones both have 2 Assists on the Season after those two Goals, and that was Bud Light Lime Bud Light Lime’s first Goal of his career.  At least Anaheim can take this small bright spot out of this game and go forward with this youthful involvement.
Three Stars - 110 Words

All three of our stars from tonight’s game come from the Anchorage Armada. First off, we have Ryan Cvitkovich, who was a big team player tonight with 1 goal and 2 assists. He picked up his first goal of the season and helped out our second star of the evening, Bork Lazer. Lazer set the stage for tonight’s game getting the first goal for the Armada under 5 minutes in. Chris de Siren, our final star of the night really popped off in the third period. All three goals that brought the Armada to their finishing score of 7-2 de Siren was apart of, with 1 goal and 2 assists.

Goals Galore - 101 Words

Between the first and second periods, we see the Anchorage Armada and the Anaheim Outlaws trade goals back and forth, making it 2-2 about mid-way through the second period. This appears to be a catalyst for the Armada to fight back. In true armada fashion, Anchorage picks up 5 more goals within the last half of period 2 and all of period 3. Ryan Cvitkovich and Cyril Vyskoc both picked up their first goals of the season as well! Exciting stuff. Chris de Siren carried the last 3 goals of the game with his own goal as well as two assists.

Anaheim Performance - 114 Words

Anaheim really underperformed in tonight’s game. The Outlaws are second to the Knights in the current Western standing, while the Armada is sitting just about the Whalers near the bottom. Anchorage almost had double the amount of shots taken on goal with 50-26. Although Anaheim got dominated in goals, the best player of the night was Thorbjorn Gunnarson, who had a game rating of 74, and an offence and defence rating about 70. The last game these two played ended up with Anaheim winning 2-1, and the Armada was not afraid to clap back. These two teams continue to surprise us each day, we will be looking forward to seeing what they do next.
Wallmart Yodelling Kid Factor
Years ago, and internet video surfaced featuring the timeless art of the yodel being passionately belted out by a young kid at a Walmart Superstore. Hearts and minds were touched by this young man’s display of vocal excellence. This season, the Anaheim outlaws have featured the song that the infamous song as their goal horn as a way to pay tribute to the video that has so touched us as a society. They would also hope that the possibility of hearing the song during a game would encourage more scoring among the Outlaws players. Unfortunately, the song didn’t spark the team as much as they had wished, but not for a lack of trying.

Pornhub Sponsorship Advantage?
One of the several great new implementations added this season to the SMJHL was the addition of sponsors and advertisements to the boards and ice of every SMJHL rink. The sponsors allow for the teams to take in more capital and disperse it to their players, the organization, and the community. Among the more prominent sponsors for the Armada are the video and entertainment site PornHub, with their ad displayed proudly in the neutral zone of the rink. Tonight’s game featured a benefit that for every goal scored by the Outlaws, $1,000 would be donated to the Anaheim branch of the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital. Unfortunately, they were only able to pot 2 goals tonight, but that is still $2,000 going to a good cause.

Three Stars
3. Chris de Siren – Perhaps this veteran winger should be higher up than third star on this list. He played a stellar game, sniping one goal and assisting on two others in a very high-scoring game for the Boats. Chris will surely make some noise as his career in Anchorage continues, and when he makes the jump to Calgary in the SHL.

2. Bork Lazer – Although this hulking six-foot-three defenseman didn’t have as many points as Chris de Siren, the points he obtained were on very important and meaningful goals. He set the tone with a huge goal to start of the game, and continued he intensity throughout the rest of the 60 minutes.

1. Ryan Cvitkovich – Another Boats player with a three point night in a dominant win. His goal took place during the second-period beat-down and was also his first of the year.

Comment 1 - Player of the Game

Man this game was a bashing by the Anchorage Armada. They beat down on the Anaheim Outlaws very hard and strong. Tough to pick a player of the game since there was so many strong performances coming out of the Armada. But its my job to pick one and I will be doing just that. My player of the game is Anchorage Armada defenseman Bork Lazer. Love watching the guy play the game ice. He opened up the scoring in this one and also added on another 2 assists later in the game. 3 point performances, yeah thats the player of the game in my mind.

Comment 2 - 3 Stars of the Game

3rd Star - Chris De Siren had a strong game for the Armada. He had a goal which was just nasty man. Got the puck off a great feed from Stan Hanson. Got it with good speed and just slammed that disk into the net. I mean he slaaamed it with power. Good stuff Chris.

2nd Star - Ryan Cvitkovich was great in this one. He was able to put up a goal and an assist. Phenomenal stuff from thins young future star. He is going places for sure.

1st Star - Bork Lazer. Guy was an absolute freak in this one and easily my 1st star. He was everywhere on the ice and it showed.

Comment 3 - Turning Point of the Game

Sometimes it can be tricky to pick out a turning point in a game of hockey. Feels like there is a turning point every minute. But sometimes there is games like the one that was played tonight, where it is pretty easy to pick it out what the turning point. The turning point came early in the first period and it involved Armada defenseman Bork Lazer. On a bad line change from the Outlaws, Lazer blasted into the offensive zone and took a big daddy slapper on the goalie. Don't think the goalie was prepared for that because he let it slip by him, giving the Armada an early lead, and the rest is history.
C1
Game Over
Despite the rather ludicrous goal total presented by the Armada tonight in their win, it was a tight game for a large portion of this match up. Just over halfway into the second period, it was a tied 2-2 game. However, minutes later the Armada were able to take control. This started with a goal from Ryan Cvitkovich, and another just seconds after from Cyril Vyskoc. This surge made it 4-2 for the Armada, and it was easy sailing the rest of the game. They had the momentum, and scored the goals to back that statement up. Just to make sure, de Siren came out of the third period with 3 points, putting the Outlaws away for good.

C2
Underrated Performance
It was made quite easy for Sergei Potvinov, but despite the Armada's strong defensive performance, he faced some good chances from the Anaheim Outlaws offense. They are never a team to underestimate on that end, and their record this far shows that. While the Armada offense gave him quite a large cushion to fall back onto, he didn't need to use it, and had a good game of his own. He stopped 24 shots, on the 26 shots that he faced, which is good for a .923 SV% tonight. Hopefully he is able to continue to make an impact on the Armada roster, and continue this type of play well into the season.
You could also go with Taylor Johansson from the Outlaws, who had an even +/- at the end of the match, and displayed a defensive rating of 79 despite the thumping they took.

The Three Stars
Your third star tonight.. from the Anchorage Armada.. Chris de Siren! He had a great game all around, and while most of his contributions came in late, they were the deciding factors of tonight's game. One goal at the start of the third, followed by two primary assists, makes him good for the third star.
Your second star tonight.. from the Anchorage Armada.. Bork Lazer! Lazer had quite an impact on the game early on, with the opening goal to put the Armada up 1 early. When the Outlaws answered back, he was able to get a helper on another goal from Taylor Gervais to put the Armada up 2-1. Overall strong game from Lazer.
And your first star tonight.. from the Anchorage Armada.. Ryan Cvitkovich! With an assist on the opening goal, and a goal to put the Armada up 3-2 in the second period, followed by another assist helping to strengthen the elad to 4-2, Cvitkovich had a great game today on the offensive side of the puck, making it easy for the rest of his teammates.

Comment 1 - The Former Firebirds Fired Up the Fans

In a shocking game, the Anchorage Armada found a groove that the Anaheim Outlaws couldn't decipher. The Armada fired on all cylinders, keeping a good pace and eventually outshot them two times what they were producing. It was a disappointing game for the outlaws, who were expected to win the game handily. The Armada also played the physical game correctly, wearing down the Outlaws to a point where they couldn't respond. It was mainly apparent in the third period where they were powerless against the team, letting in 3 goals and sealing their fate. It was a thrashing for the ages and the fans in Anchorage were more than satisfied.

Comment 2 - Upset

The result of the game was a surprise for sure: the Outlaws were the favorites for sports betters everywhere, noting their balanced system of play against an erratic Armada team. Unfortunately, they had not expected the adaptability of the team, which lead to their downfall. The outlaws failed to adapt to Anchorage's aggressiveness, both physically and mentally, and in turn, caused them to become complacent by the end of the third period. After the game, the coach of the outlaws was heard giving a passionate, expletive-filled speech with a fury only rivaled by the performance of the Armada. The Outlaws were found to be doing bag skates during their next practice session.

Comment 3 - Crystal Ball

If there was anything the Outlaws took from this game, it's that it's tough playing a team that had the resolve to keep fighting, even if the predictions for them are dim. With that in mind, the Outlaws made decent strides, finding themselves 2nd in the western conference. Anchorage on the other hand has been mediocre, only sitting on top of the faltering Vancouver Whalers. It's been an interesting ride for both teams, who will be attempting to compete for the playoffs and making tough desicions to either be a part of the rest, or a part of the best.
Upset Win for the Armada (110 Words)

Coming into this game the Outlaws were the clear favorite. With a record of 5-2=0, good for 10 points, they were one of the leagues best teams thus far. Meanwhile, in Anchorage, they have picked up just 2 wins in 6 games, with 5 points total. So, this result was a shock, to say the least. It’s a great result for the Armada, who will look to build off of this moving forward. It should serve as proof that they are capable of beating just about anyone, and if they can come up with performances like this more often, they will shoot up the standings.

2 Goals in 8 Seconds (128 Words)

With the game tied at two a piece, the real turning point occurred with 5 minutes left in the second period. Ryan Cvitkovich scored to make it 3-2, for his second point of the night, and then, just 8 seconds later, the Armada would score again, to make it 4-2. This time it was Cyril Vyskoc, being setup by Cvitkovich and Thorbjorn Gunnarson. And just like that, in the span of 8 seconds, the game had gone from tied at two a piece, to a 4-2 lead for Anchorage. This was the big turning point, as it would be all Armada from this point forward in the game. They would go on to score three more goals in the third, for a total of seven on the night.

Complete Domination (102 Words)

It’s worth mentioning that along with scoring 7 goals, the Armada dominated in just about every other statistic as well. They had an insane 50 shots on the night, while Anaheim had barely half of that (26 to be exact). You would think that the team with possession would have the puck all the time, so they wouldn’t be as physical, but in this case, you would be wrong. Anchorage had 27 hits, to Anaheim’s 10. Anchorage also managed to win 31 faceoffs, while the Outlaws won just 24. All-in-all, it was a dominant performance, that the Armada should be proud of.
