Armada ANCHORAGE ARMADA Armada
VS
Outlaws ANAHEIM OUTLAWS Outlaws

The S57 SMJHL finals are upon us, and we will see the Anchorage Armada face off against the Anaheim Outlaws for the Four-Star Cup. As is tradition, these finals will come with a bunch of TPE available for you guys, in the form of Championship Week!

Here's how this will work: there are several tasks, each of which is worth varying amounts of TPE for putting in a little effort, for a maximum of 16 possible TPE total. You can complete them in any order and do as few or as many as you would like.

ONLY S57 SMJHL ROOKIES (S58 SHL DRAFTEES) CAN EARN TPE FOR CW TASKS. If you signed after the trade deadline and are going into the S58 SMJHL Draft, that's not you.

You may claim affiliation from an ISFL or PBE PT for 3 of your 16 TPE total

Task #1 - 3 TPE (graphic only)
The finals are always a great time for SHL hopefuls to get their name on the map. Make a hockey magazine cover regarding a specific player in the finals, either rookie or send-down, to hype them up.
Requirements: A player render, the SMJHL logo of the team the player plays for (and/or SHL if they're a senddown), the name of the hockey magazine and a tagline about the player in question.

Task #2 - 2 TPE
Your team is giving back to their supporters by holding a fan appreciation day for one of their games, where the team will hand out a special commemorative item to show thanks for their continued support of the franchise. You have been tasked to design the product to be given out to the attendees (can be a rally towel, foam finger, bobble head, etc.)
Requirements:
- WRITTEN: Write a 100 word blurb about the item, including details on during which game was / will be given out.
- GRAPHIC:  Include a picture of the item and at least one SMJHL logo; must look like you at least kinda tried.

Requirements:
- WRITTEN: 100+ words.
- GRAPHIC: Team logos and player renders plus an article blurb or tagline.

Task #4 - 3 TPE
Professional hockey players are among the luckiest members of a community, but not everyone is given the same opportunities. As such, many players are expected to give back to the community by volunteering their time and energy off the ice with various charitable organizations. Either write about a charity or event that your player helped out with, or create a flyer or invitation for your event, including team logo, a photo of your player render, and the charity/charities being supported by the event.
Requirements:
WRITTEN: 150+ words
GRAPHIC: Include team logo, a photo of your player render, and the charity/charities being supported by the event

Requirements:
WRITTEN: 150+ words
GRAPHIC: Include player renders and team logos

Task #6 - 3 TPE
How would round 1 have gone down if the team matchups had been different? Which teams would be advancing to round 2? Would it have been more evenly matched? Less? (If you're on a team that had a round 1 bye, you can talk about round 2 instead)
Requirements: 150+ words.

Code:
Task #7 - 2 TPE
As I'm sure you've all noticed the postseason uses a 12-team playoff format, which has come full of wacky surprises such as Eastern conference teams playing against Western conference ones before the finals, and a semifinals seeding of 1st vs 2nd  /  7th vs 9th. What is your opinion on the format? Good or bad?
Requirements: 100+ words.

Code:
Task #8 - 3 TPE
You just played out your very first season in the SMJHL to start a new chapter in your career. Overall, how would you say you performed in your rookie season? Did you meet expectations you set for yourself individually? What do you need to improve on for next season?
Requirements: 150+ words.

Code:
Task #9 - 2 TPE
Which series of these playoffs up until the finals has been the best / most thrilling and why? Write a short recap of which series you personally enjoyed the best and talk about the key points of the series, along with what ultimately led to the final result of it.
Requirements: 100+ words.

Code:
Task #10 - 3 TPE
So your team just got eliminated these playoffs, and have to look forward to next season where hopefully things go differently. What does your team have to be excited about for next season, where they'll have another go at the coveted 4-star cup?
Requirements: 150+ words.

Requirements: 150+ words.

Code:
Task #12 - 3 TPE
Write a pre-draft scout report on your player from the perspective of a journalist covering the prospects of the S58 draft class. What do possible SHL suitors have to be excited (or perhaps wary?) about when it comes to potentially drafting your player?
Requirements: 150+ words.

Task #13 - 1-4 TPE
Answer up to 4 of these prompts, each one being worth 1 TPE for 50+ words each.
A. Which player from either team has the best name in this series (just the name itself, nothing to do with the player themselves).
B. Anchorage managed to stun heavy favourites Quebec City backstopped by some excellent work on defense, as well as goaltending from Chimkin Tendy. As for Anaheim, their offense has been red hot all playoffs, with their defeated opponents still hearing Conga in their nightmares. Who are the favourites in this classic battle of offense vs defense?
C. You're in another timeline where Quebec and Vancouver are the two cup finalists. What went right for them in this timeline's semis compared to ours where they lost?
D. We've been talking about the playoffs, but regular season performance is a key factor in laying the foundation for a solid playoff run. Who was the key player to success for either team (or both) during the regular season and why?

Task #14 - Latecomer Special - 2-3 TPE
So I see you waited until the end of the finals to complete your tasks! Well congrats to the Anchorage Armada on winning the Four-Star! Reflecting back on the series, what were the keys to the Armada taking the finals? Name 3 key points that resulted in the series playing out the way it did.
Requirements:
WRITTEN: 100+ words for 2 TPE, 150+ for 3 TPE.
GRAPHIC: Includes a player render and a table with the 3 keys to the series results.

Task #4 - 3 TPE
The Anchorage Armada had a bye week for the first round of the playoffs. While most would be content to sit back and wait for their turn, the team decided to give back to the community. Many ideas were thought up, but ultimately the Armada decided they wanted to do something to help the children. After many hours of loving debate, the team decided they would go to a local library to read with the children, the idea being to trick their tiny child minds into associating something cool, like hockey players, with something uncool, like reading. Unfortunately, due to a scheduling mishap that was no one's fault (even though Monica, the head librarian, was in charge of scheduling) all the players ended up having to read at the same time! I mean, yes, it did save time in the long run, but it was a cacophony of 20 hockey players all reading their book simultaneously, leaving the children very confused. But it's the thought that counts, and now those kids will have a great story for life, so we refuse to apologize.

Forwards: Center Pablo Salvatici and Wingers Asclepius Perseus Flitterwind and Slava Petrov. Not much to say here, these three combined for over 150 points on the season. I could see an argument for either Theo Kondos or John Donair over Petrov, but with the gaudy goal numbers from Flitterwind (35 goals on the season) I wanted two pass first guys to line up with him and Petrov had the most assists of any of the 5 players listed at 33.

Defensemen: Igor Victory and Gregory Goode. Homer pick? Sure. Bias? You betcha. But I feel comfortable with this as my pick as someone who has followed this pairing's play all season. Outside of 2-3 games early in the season, the two were lined up together for every regular season game and the results were wonderful. 72 combined points, a 33 game stretch without putting up a negative +/- rating, and the pair lead the league (among players with 66GP) in GA/60 with a measly 1.4. And that's not with sheltered minutes either! I suppose I could go for a bit more offense and line Goode up with DuBolk, but there's something about Victory-Goode that just worked.

Goalie: Chimkin Tendy. The man was everything Anchorage needed this season and then some. Top GAA in the league, most shutouts, 3rd best SV% (among starters). Tendy should be a favorite for goalie of the year, and he's someone I'd want in net no matter the situation.

Well let me tell you that I think the current seeding system sucks. I know it's something with the engine and there's nothing we can do about it, but it makes things quite silly. The way the current system is laid out (and correct me if I'm wrong) means that we will never see a 4 Star Cup Finals between a 1 seed and a 2 seed. Assuming they win their previous rounds, they're always fated to meet in the semifinals. This still makes for a good series, mind you, but it's not the absolute spotlight series that it should be. Also this means that instead of the best of the West vs the best of the East, you just end up with two teams. It could end up being two teams from the same exact division competing for the cup, which just seems off. I hear FHM7 lets you have custom playoffs, so if that's true that would be a welcome change once we make the jump over.

Task #8 - 2 TPE
I could not be happier with my first season in the SMJHL! I set a few goals for myself heading into the season. Personally I wanted to perform better than my last defenseman, Clayton Goode. Not only did I do that, but I actually ended up leading all rookies in scoring with 39 points! Not only that, but I wasn't a major liability defensively (though I'm sure a lot of that is thanks to my partner, Igor Victory) finishing with the 4th best +/- on the team and leading the league (with Igor) in GA/60. For my team goal I wanted to win a 4 Star Cup. That one is still to be decided, but we're one series away, so I'm a 50/50 shot at clearing that milestone too. Finally I'd like to be a first round pick, as none of my previous players were first rounders in the SHL draft, but we'll have to wait a bit longer to see if that comes into fruition.

Task #9 - 2 TPE
Could it be any other series besides Quebec City vs Anchorage? The 1 seed vs the 2 seed in the quarter finals was everything it was chalked up to be and then some. The series featured many tight games and both goaltenders managed to keep their team in most games. I think a special mention is deserved for game 6. Heading into game 5 the series was knotted up at 2 wins apiece, and Quebec City took game 5 handily, leading them to within a win of advancing. Game 6 was do or die for Anchorage, and it was a scoreless game for quite a while before Quebec struck. And again. Down 2-0 in their own arena with under 10 minutes left things were looking grim. But a few quick strikes lead the game to overtime, when Vladmir Petrov buried one to send the series to game 7. In game 7 Anchorage took that momentum and translated it into an early lead, one that they wouldn't give up sending them to the Cup finals.

Lots of teams have been scrambling and trying to fix their prospect ratings after the season that Gregory Goode just had. The youngster, drafted at 19th overall in the SMJHL draft has shown extraordinary skill this season for the Anchorage Armada and will likely go many spots higher come SHL draft day. So what do GMs see in the kid? First off he's always training to be the best player he can be. I'm sure some scouts were worried that his regiment may fall off some point during the season, but he's always in the weight room or watching tape, the kid wants to be the best he can be. And all that hard work seems to have paid off, as Goode lead all S58 SHL draftees in points at 39. Is he first overall? Doubtful, but I'm sure several GMs are looking over their mocks and trying to see if they can't nab this superstar in the making.

Well this season did not go like we wanted, but Quebec appreciates its fans, and we will be holding a special event day. With me being asked to think of something to give out, I think I have something that everyone would appreciate. We can hold a bobblehead day to commemorate all the people that are getting called up to the SHL and will not be playing for us next season. Players like Stan Q. Next, or Teylora Petrov all had big parts to the team, and having bobbleheads of them, would commemorate their efforts. It should be given out on our home opener next season, so we can look back at this season.

The semifinals matchup between the Citadelles and the Anchorage Armada was an interesting one. With the first seed playing the second seed, there was bound to be a great matchup and series, which is what it ended up being, spoiler: Anchorage won. But with so many great players there were some interesting matchups to look at. Mikael Koskinen vs Slava Petrov. Each wingers for their own team, only one point seperated their point totals in the regular season, with Koskinen leading by 1 with 55 points. Petrov ended up being Anchorage's best scorer, leading their offense. Petrov did end up getting the better of him in the playoffs, scoring one more point, while Anchorage also ended up moving on.

I absolutely hate it. Maybe I am just salty since Quebec was the 1 seed that lost in the semis to the 2 seed, but there should be no instance where 1st and 2nd seed should play each other. It just does not make sense. Finals are supposed to be a fun time, with events like this Championship Week going on, and not letting the 1st and 2nd seed even have a chance at playing each other, ensures that the finals will not be the matchup of the most capable teams, and the ones who deserve it. I hope that because of this, we are not effected too bad next season, and that we can make ourselves back to the playoffs and get our revenge.

Its like what the prompt said, offseason means its draft time. Draft is the most fun and important part of any sim league, and I am excited to bring this player in the draft. While I do not think I will end up in the first round, getting in the second round would be more than enough, and I am just excited to be able to meet my new teammates and learn about how my future will go. But other than the draft, during the offseason, just need to work harder. Was one of the top rookies this season, and I need to continue that next season, and maybe even get my second all star appearance. Travelling to Quebec after being drafted, and not having a lot of time after till the start of the season, did not get a lot of time to explore in Quebec, so doing some sightseeing could be fun for something to do in the offseason, maybe something to do with my fellow S58 draftees.

A. Turg Turg is a pretty interesting name. Especially with it being capitolized in the index. I am sure there are some interesting reasons for why he was called that. He was playing on the Anchorage Armada and in the finals, had a good series in general, with 8 goals and 5 assists.

B. You know what they say, defense wins championships, and looking at the results that it 100 percent true. Their defense took the next step up during the series, and like how they had dominated in the semifinals against the Citadelles, they were able to dominate in the finals against Anaheim.

Code:

C. In Quebecs timeline, they were finally able to be clutch, in the real series, with a series lead, we were not able to close out the game, but with here, we finally held on to the lead, and finished off the game in game 6 against the Armada. For Vancouver, there offense just started clicking together, cause if you only score one goal, you will not win the series.

Code:

D. For Anaheim, their key to success had to be their winger duo of Long John Donair and Asclepius Perseus Flitter. The pair combined for over 100 points and for 60 goals. There offensive firepower was just too good, and were the main reasons, Anaheim were able to perform in the regular season, this season.

It just happens that the largest underground falcon fighting rings happens to reside in Detroit, and as such, many injured falcon are left abandoned on the streets. Yan’s story starts off with Yan in a dark place during his rookie season, only to emerge with a bright light to helping others. Paired with the team giveaway this season (a potentially nice or vicious falcon), Yan was actually a part of this underground falcon fighting ring during the first few games of his rookie season. The media found out about this and quickly went to the presses to blame his early performance on his lack of hockey focus. Instead, Yan was spending time into the wee hours of the morning, trying to take home a few bucks with a successful falcon fight. Once this came out, Yan protested and said this was a normal activity in his home country. But he quickly came to realize that was not the case here in the United States of America and the SMJHL. Yan knew that this behavior could not go on further and instead helped the Detroit Falcons connect with the Raptor Center of Detroit to help find some of these rehabilitated birds a new home. This season had its ups and down moments for Yan. At the onset of the season, Yan set a personal goal to try and contribute 20 points to the team through goals and assists. The driving force for Yan is to be a future playmaker, but he knows it will take time to get there. Reflecting back on the season and being able to put up 24 points, really helped to lift Yan’s spirit heading into next season and the SHL draft. Yan helped to contribute some key goals in the playoffs and hops to continue that momentum going into the new season. Going into next season, we’d like to see a slight uptick in points, lets say the 35 point mark and improving on the defensive end to become less of a liability. Yan plans to ingest legal steroids with the help of a somewhat shady doctor in order to help continued muscle growth. (155 words)

So your team just got eliminated these playoffs, and have to look forward to next season where hopefully things go differently. What does your team have to be excited about for next season, where they'll have another go at the coveted 4-star cup? Requirements: 150+ words.

This was one of the better seasons for Detroit since the last cup win and there is a lot of excitement not just in the locker room, but with fans and media as well. The 3 first round picks in the prior draft seem to be really paying dividends so far. If the team can help shore up a few of the remaining roster spots, I think they really have a chance to go far in S58. A slight uptick in scoring would help considerably, although as we have seen from the Quebec City Citadelles, scoring is not everything to getting to the finals. I think if this team can find a way to bond together and start to click on their lines (perhaps more team outings are required), the difference will really start to show on the ice. The management has done a great job keeping the locker room active and alive and I expect that to continue going into next season. (163 words)

It's officially the offseason. Whether you just won the cup or didn't even make the playoffs, it's time to take a break and look toward the SHL draft. In 150+ words, tell us how you're spending your time this offseason. Requirements: 150+ words.

Yan has certainly not given up his playboy lifestyle just yet. A chartered jet was waiting on the tarmac to take Yan and several teammates to Egypt. Yan has some anger he needs to work out and has been told that he will be able to slapshot some grenades off of one of the pyramids, with government approval, of course. From there, Yan has aspirations to tame and ride a lion, live with a pride for 1-2 weeks and has been given full access to use whatever force necessary to ward off poachers. Yan believes that if he can harness the power of the lions, that he can come back with more strength, determination and pride coming into next season. It has been said that the fountain of youth lies out on the prairies somewhere, and Yan hopes to discover its truth. If Yan doesn’t lose his mind out there, he will hopefully return for the beginning of the pre-season training camp. (162 words)

For those that are considering drafting Yan, they are getting a newer player to the league, but one that continues to grow and flourish with the help of his trusted advisors. Yan can help chip in on offense and defense, but the hopes and dreams of becoming a skilled playmaker. Do note that Yan has a bold personality on the ice that won’t work for everyone. He will constantly instigate fights and then blame it on other players (the reason he has had zero fights in his career so far). This shows that Yan is not just a one dimensional player and can help in many facets of the game. Yan continues to be more active in his community every day that passes and has come to better understand the American style of play. I think with another season or two in the SMJHL, he will be ready to take on the biggest threats in the league in the SHL. (160 words)

It's Jonny Tsunami Day at a Maine Timber's home game. There's obviously a lot of trees that Maine cuts down, and what better to use that wood for than a... surf board. That's right. The Jonny Tsunami fan appreciation day giveaway would be a surfboard. It would probably be during Jonny Tsunami's last season in the minors, because it takes time to craft all these surfboards, but management has 3-4 seasons to make all 20,000 surfboards to hand out to each attendee (post COVID of course). Jonny Tsunami would use his own money to make sure every single fan receives a surfboard for this special day. This would be the greatest giveaway of all time.

Every single year, Jonny Tsunami holds a weekend event for kids to learn how to surfboard back in Hawaii. With the waves not being that great in Maine, this offseason, Jonny Tsunami is holding a very special Jonny Tsunami Maine Timber sponsored surf invitational in Hawaii. Jonny Tsunami has a lot of connections with the top surfers around the world, and many of these surfers have become Maine Timber fans because of Tsunami. This invitational would bring in the biggest sponsors, that would rival the US Open in Huntington Beach. All proceeds would go towards a local charity in Maine, focused on providing all students with various school supplies, such as Maine Timber sponsored backpacks, pens, pencils, notebooks, and laptops for the older kids. Jonny Tsunami believes in the youth, and wants to give back to the Maine Timber community, who have been supporting Jonny Tsunami since day one. Jonny Tsunami hopes that this same invitational would be big enough to provide for the Maine Timber community, and whichever SHL team drafts him in the upcoming draft.

My dream team of players from the Armada and Outlaws would include:
F - "Long" John Donair - When I first joined the league while S56 was still going on, I looked at the stat books, and who was the top goal scorer in the league? "Long" John Donair. As someone who never watched hockey before, Jonny Tsunami has two idols, Corey Perry of the NHL, and "Long" John Donair of the the SMJHL. Jonny Tsunami wants to hit the 30 goal mark in the J one day, and has looked up to Donair since the beginning.
F - Asclepius Perseus Flitterwind - This man scored 35 goals this season and has a top 5 name in the J. Easy selection.
C - Vladmir Petrov - This was a tough choice, but in my opinion this man is the best center from both teams, so it only makes sense that he would center between the two great forwards from Anaheim. He had a higher +/- than his teammate Pablo Salvatici, so he gets the nod.
D - Gregory Goode and Igor Victory - This tandem led the Outlaws in the regular season and this is the team with the lowest Goals Against. It's only fitting that they should both making my dream team together.
G - Chimkin Tendy - Top tier name and a top tier tendy. This man led the league in Wins and Goals against, and is easily the best goalie in the J today.

Task #6 - 3 TPE
Jonny Tsunami believes we went into the playoffs at the very worst time. We were on the coldest of cold streaks, and we lost to the worst regular season team in the league. It could have been any other team and I believe the Maine Timber would have won. In my opinion, this was a combination of bad timing and bad sim luck. I believe we could have made it to the finals, but the cards didn't fall our way unfortunately. Literally, all of our players went cold in the playoffs, and myself, Jonny Tsunami was the only player who had multiple goals in the series for the Timber. It was a tough series, and I believe COVID not allowing fans, made this series not feel like a playoff game, so we just were not into it like our opponents were. As my first playoff experience, Jonny Tsunami never wants to have this feeling again, being the heavy favorite, and losing to that huge underdog. Jonny Tsunami understands losing to a team of equal or higher skill, but Jonny Tsunami has been very upset since his playoff season ended and has not been able to sleep well. Jonny Tsunami believes that every first round matchup would have favored the Timber, and wishes the playoffs restarted to show the real Maine Timber, because the performance they showed in the S57 playoffs were not an indication of how good that team really was.

Task #8 - 2 TPE

Jonny Tsunami thinks he was the best rookie in the SMJHL this season. Jonny Tsunami led all rookies in goals, and all rookie forwards in points and was a key cog for the Maine Timber. From my analysis of the rookies, it looks like defensemen have an easier time as a rookie than a forward, and as such, I believe if there is a rookie of the year, Jonny Tsunami believes he should be taking home the award. Jonny Tsunami had the lowest expectations for himself, so he was not expecting a 32 point season, let alone 19 goals. Jonny Tsunami was expecting to be a 3rd/4th liner with 5-10 points in his first season, so Jonny clearly blew away all expectations of himself. Jonny Tsunami wants to become an even deadlier force down low, and wants to break the 20 goal mark. Jonny Tsunami knows this will be difficult, as his two line mates will be going up to the SHL, but he hopes that he can find chemistry with his current rookie teammates and help the Maine Timbers win games, while scoring all these goals.

You just played out your very first season in the SMJHL to start a new chapter in your career. Overall, how would you say you performed in your rookie season? Did you meet expectations you set for yourself individually? What do you need to improve on for next season?

While some people say Finn von Murphenstein performed admirably he himself is not happy at all with his performance this season. He was outplayed by people on offence and defence and did not hit the milestones he set for himself at the start of it. Only accounting for 22 points with 6 goals and 16 assists is nothing Finn is very proud of, especially since his defensive stats have been lacking as well with 77 hits and 21 takeaways. His goals for the season included a minimum of 100 hits and an overall grade that is greater than 60. He ended up close to it with 57 but wants to do a lot better next season. Another thing he wants to improve is his general +/- when he is on the ice which this season was an atrocious -17, which doesn't mean a lot since most of the Carolina lines were generally outscored pretty badly in their time on the ice, but it is till something that motivates him and his teammates for the next season.

It's officially the offseason. Whether you just won the cup or didn't even make the playoffs, it's time to take a break and look toward the SHL draft. In 150+ words, tell us how you're spending your time this offseason.

Finn von Murphenstein is a simple man, he likes the basic things in life which for him are mostly food and beer. After the season ended a bit early for him, he decided to take some time to get to know his surroundings in this new place better. He heard great things about Carolina barbecue and the craft beer scene, so that's what most of his offseason will be dedicated to. Experiencing all the restaurants he could find and going for a good meal and some beer is basically everything Finn needs. But even for a man like him it can't all be fun and food. He is very serious about his career in the SMJHL and the SHL after that so next to eating and drinking with his teammates from the Kraken he also works a lot on getting better for the next season. He is not too excited about his showing this year and plans do a lot of strength and conditioning as well as film study to be a much better player next season.

Task #13 - 4 TPE
Answer up to 4 of these prompts, each one being worth 1 TPE for 50+ words each.

A. Which player from either team has the best name in this series (just the name itself, nothing to do with the player themselves).

David S. Pumpkins clearly has the best name of the series in the series, which I can answer very easily. He is David Pumpkins after all, and he scares the hell out of you! You don't know who David Pumpkins is? He is his own thing, just ride the haunted elevator and you will see how scary David Pumpkins is. Because he is David Pumpkins! (Also if you don't know who David Pumpkins is, this will enlighten you)

It's easy to say who is the favourite now since I am writing this after Anchorage won the championship. But I can try to sound smarter by saying I always expected the boats to win. Looking at the games though it was pretty clear that Anaheim hard a hard time breaking Anchorages' defence while ANC started out hot on offence with a lot of scoring throughout all of their four wins.

C. You're in another timeline where Quebec and Vancouver are the two cup finalists. What went right for them in this timeline's semis compared to ours where they lost?

Quebec was generally favoured to crash into the finals after their great season anyways where they ran away with the number one seed and beat the Berserkers in the quarterfinals. The final winner of the Four Star cup was who put a sudden end to their season with winning the final game of the series, so a bit more luck in the semis to win the fourth game would have done it for them. Vancouver had a really hard time against the Outlaws and needed a lot more than a bit of luck to make their way to the finals, they were basically outplayed 4-1 and did never look like they were in it at all. In the end what was missing to their way to the finals was probably a miracle of enormous size.

D. We've been talking about the playoffs, but regular season performance is a key factor in laying the foundation for a solid playoff run. Who was the key player to success for either team (or both) during the regular season and why?

It is hard to look at Anchorages success without looking at the dynamic duo up front for them which took care of a lot of scoring, but one of the biggest reasons, in the end, was probably Slava Petrov who came up big all throughout the regular season ending with a 38 +/-, 21 goals and 33 assists for a total of 54 points. While the defence generally dominated as well it’s hard to not point out the great scoring in front of the line.

Kickz found himself in Newfoundland just a few short days after the SMJHL draft. While professional hockey can be a fulfilling endeavor, it can also leave players searching for purpose in their life outside of the rink. Giving back to the community is one of the things that Newfoundland, the Berzerkers organization, front office and players, feel very passionate about. Just a few weeks into the summer, Kickz connected with a member of the local Heart and Stroke Foundation about their Ride for Heart – Newfoundland bike ride. This event brings together folks from all walks of life for different reasons. While some families use it as an outing for their kids to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather, others take fundraising and the bike “race” very seriously.

Kickz, who has found himself to be very interested in getting back on the bike, used this opportunity to give back to the Newfoundland community and raise money for a great cause. The Berzerker’s organization matched Kickz fundraising total, which was more than $150,000 CAD. And, many of Kickz’ teammates decided to join in the Ride for Heart. Overall, the organization raised more than $1 million CAD for increased research into prevention of strokes and increased care for those struggling with life after a heart-attack.

The 12 team playoff format is a must for junior hockey. Especially in a league with such drastic talent level differences between first year players and others who have been with their current teams for as many as three prior seasons. And the larger playoff format makes for an interesting opportunity for upsets, like we saw in round one with the Berzerkers taking down the Timber. When you introduce more teams to the equation and young teams with something to prove show up at the end of the year having taken big strides, it produces an opportunity for real story lines. Not to mention, everyone loves a new and interesting playoff matchup. This format allows for that.

Write a pre-draft scout report on your player from the perspective of a journalist covering the prospects of the S58 draft class. What do possible SHL suitors have to be excited (or perhaps wary?) about when it comes to potentially drafting your player?
Requirements: 150+ words.

The upcoming Season 58 draft includes some of the most interesting prospects that the SHL teams have seen in quite a long time. With a large influx of really talented players, there are a number of old and new names that seem to have spotted the landscape. While SHL GMs may be enamored with some newer hockey families, there are a few classic hockey names in the crowd that are likely to standout. For example, Izzy and Kickz are both well known hockey families who have players in the upcoming draft.

Kickz, has found that his return to the SHL doesn’t come with as much clout from a draft prospect perspective as he might have imagined. Falling to the later rounds of the SMJHL entry draft, Kickz certainly had something to prove. He spent all year in the middle six of a growing Newfoundland team. However, SHL scouts likely noticed that he played much of the season out of position. A natural winger, Kickz spent significant time working on his faceoff game and learning to play down the middle. His skillset fits that of a center. A natural distributor of the puck and responsible defensive play. SHL GMs will be looking at this flexibility and be thrilled by the team-first mentality. However, there’s no doubting that some will still be weary of some of the failings of Kickz’ current training partners and former SHL burnouts, Chuck Goody Jr.

S58 Rookies are already looking ahead to the upcoming draft and interested to see where there names might be called. For Kickz Jr, the expectation is that he will likely be picked in the top 25-30 players. Very similar to where his father, Kickz Sr. was selected.

I mean, can you really go wrong with the name Biggs Secksy? He’s a large man, with sexy features. He knows how to party and he knows how to puck. And yes, I mean puck, not firetruck. Although, if we are being honest Biggs Secksy doesn’t really sound like a winger’s name, more like a swinger’s name. Right?

As for Anaheim, their offense has been red hot all playoffs, with their defeated opponents still hearing Conga in their nightmares. Who are the favourites in this classic battle of offense vs defense?

In the playoffs, defense and goaltending is everything. Chimkin Tendy was red hot against Quebec and there is no reason to expect that he will slow down here. He was a top goaltender in the league all season long, booked over 8 shutouts and was pretty much tested all season long. Not to mention what a fantastic defensive core that Anchorage has in front of Tendy. This is heavy favorite to the defense.

Code:
C. You're in another timeline where Quebec and Vancouver are the two cup finalists. What went right for them in this timeline's semis compared to ours where they lost?

Generally, to make it to the cup finals, you have to win 4 of your 7 contests. Now, if I was going to take a step back and try to identify where Quebec and Vancouver went wrong in their respective series’, it would be most likely that they didn’t win enough games. Let me double check…yep, both teams failed to win 4 games. In another timeline, Quebec and Vancouver both would have managed to win 4 games to defeat their foes and move on to the finals.

Code:
D. We've been talking about the playoffs, but regular season performance is a key factor in laying the foundation for a solid playoff run. Who was the key player to success for either team (or both) during the regular season and why?

Chimkin Tendy was the key player for Anchorage throughout the season. Playing over 3000 minutes, with 8 shutouts and a .920 save percentage, he pretty much carried the boats through the regular season and right on into the playoffs. A phenomenal 33 wins and 7 OTLs was good for 73 points that secured a phenomenal seeding. The momentum carried right into the playoffs and Tendy has been just as lights out for the entirety of the playoffs. He is the key factor to Anchorage finding a way to win the Four Star.

Alright, so I think there’s a very easy solution to this dilemma. Part of the culture in the Newfoundland Berserkers locker room involves drinking. We have a fine appreciation for the alcohols. For that reason, I suggest a beer can/bottle koozie with a graphic of various players down on a knee, shotgunning a crisp beer. Each koozie can have a different player on it, or maybe some will have multiple players on it. We’ll just take a picture of the players shotgunning beers and the turn it into a comic style so we can slap it on koozies. As to which game to give it out on, I don’t care. Do it for the first 100 fans at every game.

Leon Athanasios has enjoyed being in Newfoundland and getting to be welcomed into the community. As such, he found it apt to try to be more involved in the community that welcomed him with open arms. Back in Greece, with the economic instability and the general struggles of people in poverty, Leon thought that working with organizations that try to help out people living in difficult conditions would be a good way to get involved in the community. Looking around, Leon found many organizations to work with in St. John’s. One of the causes that Leon made a donation of $100,000 was the Kids Eat Smart Foundation, to ensure that children had access to healthy and nutritious food. The other charity that Leon and some teammates worked with was Habitat for Humanity, where the players went on site to help build mobile homes for people in subpar living conditions to live in.

Well, I think this season was a huge learning experience. As a member of the third line on a very young team, me and the team faced a lot of difficulties this season. A lot of teams with some high powered offenses and stifling defenses were coming to town and we struggled a lot. I didn’t perform as well as I would have liked, only putting up 8 goals and 11 assists in 66 games. I also gave up the puck 30 times, vs only taking the puck away 8 times. I think there’s a lot to be desired of my game and how I can improve. However, working with Ham and Juke has given me a lot of insight as to how to approach the offseason and develop into a much better player. I’m going to be working a lot more on the mental part of the game. Understanding how plays develop, how to be better defensively, especially with positioning. Once I can understand how the other team plays, I can work to counter them and improve my own stats.

Well, the big story that just came in is that Newfoundland just won the SMJHL draft lottery, so we’ll have the first pick of the draft. It’s going to be very interesting, as that player will definitely be competing with me for ice time, so it’s a bit of a fire under my ass to get better. I think it’s a good thing though, as it’s a reminder that we didn’t perform well this season and complacency is not expected. As of right now, I’m not sure how many players we have staying down for next season, but I’d assume a large portion of our core will be returning since they were drafted in the last draft. Just the opportunity to have another season with the boys is going to be big for our confidence and chemistry, since we’ll have the experience from this past season to improve upon next season.

Task #11 - 3 TPE
For now, I’m just focused on taking a break. Since Newfoundland was eliminated in the second round, I’ve just stayed away from the facility and the team. While hockey is a game we play, it’s also a full time job and career. I think too much of a good thing is a bad thing, so I’ve been taking this free time to spend some time away and enjoy some of the other aspects of life. Unfortunately, I’ve gone through a recent breakup after the playoffs ended. I don’t think I played well enough, so the girlfriend left. I kid, we left amicably. But it’s been an odd experience to have neither the sport I love or the person I loved. I’ve been hanging out with friends, trying to practice some gaming before we get called back in for more film study, scrims, S&C. I think that once we all get back together and practice, we're going to see some really good things in store for us next season.

Task #12 - 3 TPE
This past season for Newfoundland was certainly interesting. While the team struggled mightily in the regular season, the team rebounded to win a playoff round, and made a deep run with the Maine Timber in the second round.. As we move into the offseason, it’s time to shift the focus to the upcoming SHL draft, where we’re continuing our focus on various draft prospects. Today, we’ll be looking at Leon Athanasios, the sniping winger on the Berserkers. The young forward has displayed a desire to shoot the puck, and he had almost 100 shots on goal this season, despite being on the 3rd line for most of the season. The winger also seemed to improve defensively as the season went on, being entrusted to play on the 2nd line for a few games. His game is very raw, and his development sporadic, but the growth is clear. He’s committed to working harder this offseason to take up a larger role next season, both on and off the ice. In terms of being wary, GM’s could look at the lack of experience and ice time, and they’d see a very raw winger whose role still isn’t determined yet.

The format is trash. If we had any other option we would probably take it. I personally have complained about this playoff format to the FHM devs on many occassions asking for them to change it to conferences playing internally until the finals, but so far there hasn't been much traction on getting a fix. When they announced that FHM7 would have custom playoffs I was so excited at the chance to get off this system only to find out it's restricted to 2, 4, 8 or 16 teams only. The devs have now said that they would work on a solution to allow other sized playoffs, so keep your fingers crossed.

By far I'd have to say the series between anchorage and quebec city was the best of the playoffs, I really didn't expect the Armada to come away with a win from that series and I feel like it's the series we really should have seen as a finals if it wasn't for this strange playoff format. The Armada coaching staff must be very happy with how the series went and that they managed to take down one of the best assembled teams in recent smjhl history. Quebec unfortunately wasn't able to get it done when it mattered most against an armada squad that worked really well together.

Honestly my offseason is going to just be filled with pre-draft interviews, post-draft interviews and all sorts of interviews during the draft. I have been scouted by a lot of teams and I am fairly confident in the position I am going to be taken at the draft. I've got my suit at the cleaners getting ready for the big day and I'm really looking forward to it. I spoke with many teams before the draft lotto when they figured they had a shot at getting me, the talk has slowed down now that the draft lotto is over and the 1st overall pick owner has been decided, but I'm still having a fair bit of talks with different teams that hoped to trade up into a position to take me. It should make for an interesting draft, I'm also really curious to see where my draft mates all end up going, especially those I am on Detroit with.

During this offseason, I’m using my platform for good. There is an issue very close to his heart that, unfortunately, not many of the SHL community know about. The lack of maintenance for the ponds at local parks is truly dreadful. That is why I have started the Pond Protection Project. I have witnessed on multiple occasions the park maintenance staff just dump barrels of chemicals into the ponds in their efforts to keep the ponds clean. This is the worst thing possible! We need a more natural solution to dirty ponds. Luckily, being an expert on ponds, I am more than capable of providing the proper solutions to this issue. Instead of chemicals, I encourage the introductions of different algae, fish, and insects that will keep ponds sparkling and fresh without the use of harmful chemicals. I will spend his weekends training staff on how to maintain and encourages any park goers to blow the whistle on unethical pond treatment. We can make a difference in our parks!

LW: Lemo Pihl (ANC) – more of a provider than a scorer, but still tallied 39 total points on the year. Gets back and supports the defense as well with 89 hits and 69 shots blocked.
C: Vladmir Petrov (ANC) – a well balanced center. Pitched in with 19 goals, 21 assists, while also adding 126 hits on the defensive side. Oh, did I mention ed won 63% of his faceoffs too? Petrov is the perfect guy to lead this line.
RW: Asclepius Perseus Flitter (ANA) – every dream team needs a true sniper. Flitter was 2nd in the league with 35 goals and pitched in with a modest 23 assists. Doesn’t get involved too much on the defensive side, but that’s not what he’s here for.
LD: Igor Victory (ANC) – one of the most efficient defenders in the league. Near the top in terms of hits, while also limiting himself to only 29 penalties. Can pitch in on offense too with 13 goals and 20 assists.
RD: Joorgustraad DuBolk (ANA) – his hitting stats won’t wow you, but this guy was a machine in takeaways (50) and shots blocked (92). Also racked up 10 goals and 27 assists.
G: Chimkin Tendy (ANC) – saved 92% of the shots he faced and lead the league with 8 shutouts. Clearly capable of standing on his head when needed.

Task #7 – 2 TPE (122 words)
While I like the idea of each division winner getting a top 4 spots and every team making the playoffs, I do think the conferences should remain separated. In my ideal situations seed 1 thru 4 still get a bye week. But rather than having #5 overall play #12 overall, I think #3 in the East should play #6 in the East and #4 in the East should play #5 in the East. Same with the West. It seems odd to me to decide the divisions are important but that the conferences don’t matter. It’s also weird that you can have an East team win the Western Conference Championship. With the format I spelled out above, the awkward issues should get resolved.

Task #11 – 3 TPE (182 words)
To any of those familiar with my background, they know he is very new to the game of hockey. When he signed as an UDFA, he barely knew how to skate. Constant film study and quality coaching throughout the season helped me learn the mental side of the game like positioning and awareness, but he still lacks that natural ability on the ice. I will be spending the majority of my offseason working on my footwork as well as stickwork. There are many drills that you can do at home that increase your hand eye coordination and quickness. I may even get dramatic and wear my skates everywhere around the house and through the town when running errands. I need these skates to feel like they are part of my body next season. No more falling over on the ice. Same goes for the stick. Instead of reaching and grabbing the bag of chips on the top shelf, I will use my stick and lasso them down. These may seem like unorthodox ways of training, but it’s what works best for me.

Task #12 – 3 TPE (186 words)
Puddles O’Duck: where to even begin with this guy…he didn’t know how to skate 3 months ago! He’s absolutely the definition of a project player. He appeared to be a quick learner up in Maine, but taking someone so raw is a high risk for GMs. He was late to the party and missed out on the draft, putting him towards the bottom of the TPE ranks for this class. However, since joining the league, he has been one of the top earners. You can tell he’s dedicated and will give everything he has to make the team better. However, determination can only get you so far. At some point at the next level, his lack of growing up playing the game will likely hurt him. At the end of the day, his floor is a solid 3rd line defender who could pitch in on the 2nd PP line. His ceiling is just shy of the all-star level. If he goes in the first, it could be considered a reach, but teams that get him in the 2nd could have quite the steal on their hands.

The Quebec City Citadelles are giving away Rally Towels to all their dedicated fans at a game next season! Quebec City management decided this would be the perfect item to give away to the fans, because Quebec Fans can wave the rally towels around like maniacs at the start of the game, then use it as a bib during the second period  while they eat their mid game meal, then use it to rally the Quebec players when they're inevitably losing in the third period. If the game makes it to overtime, the towel can then be used to cover the fans eyes so they don't have to see yet another QCC loss.

Mew Two vs David S. Pumpkins. Battle of the irrelevant fourth line forwards. Battle of the ISFL friends turned SHL rivals. Stats are irrelevant here, as fourth liners aren't on the team to contribute on the ice right now, they are on the team to be cool in the locker room and develop into good players. Mew Two has a commanding lead in TPE, having 321 TPE to David S. Pumpkin's measly 243 TPE. Mew Two also has the cooler pregame routine, as he listens to the OG pokemon theme song on repeat while getting ready, while David S. Pumpkins watches the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown Movie.

Task 4 (3 TPE):
For Mew Two, giving back to the community is easy. As he is far and away the coolest pokemon ever, his mere presence is enough to raise children's spirits. He likes to go to the various hospitals around Quebec City and spend time with the children that are patients there. Sometimes if he's in a good mood he will use his telekinetic powers to brighten the children's spirits by performing magic shows for them and their families.

In addition, since he is a pokemon, he is a very powerful being. If he hears about children being bullied at school, he goes to school and uses the fighting skills he learned from his time as a cast member of the super smash brothers franchise to beat up the bullies and to make sure that everyone is treated fairly. Sometimes when the kids are really mean he turns them to stone like he did to Ash in the first Pokemon movie.

Task 7 (2 TPE):
This playoff seeding is abysmal, and it honestly shocks me that a sim league of this high quality has something like it. I know that this weird seeding is the only way for FHM6 to let all teams into the playoffs, but at what cost? Whoever wins the 1vs2 seed matchup is going to crush whatever measly opposition they face in the finals. Why even bother letting the worst teams in the league into the playoffs? Surely there's a way to have the top 4 teams from each conference make it and to have traditional seeding. While it sucks for the bad teams to not make the playoffs, my response is: git gud.
(113 Words)

Task 8 (2 TPE):
Well, Mew Two's first season of minor league hockey was pretty unspectacular. He had some highlights, including a couple multi-point game and being the first star of the game once. However, he was buried under the extremely deep talent level of the Quebec City roster and spent the season on the fourth line. As a result, he did not get a ton of shifts, rarely getting into the double digits. As expected for a rookie, his game rating was mediocre to bad, rarely being above 50, and it was not too uncommon to see a game rating in the 40s. Hopefully as a 350 TPE capped second year player, Mew Two will improve.

Task 9 (2 TPE):
It pains me to say it, but the Quebec City Citadelles vs Anchorage Armada series was the best of the playoffs. Obviously, it was a huge disappointment to lose it, but there were some fantastic games. An OT game 7 was an experience I'll never forget, even though I would love to. Chimken Tendy was fantastic the entire series and honestly might be the playoff MVP thus far. Plenty of QCC players shone brightly in the series as well. The probable MVP, Zdenko Beranek, scored and assisted quite a few goals, and Tres Sombreros was playing the best hockey of his career during the series.

Task 8:

Kermit Murphy had a solid, if unspectacular, rookie season in the SMJHL with the Detroit Falcons. The recent 4th overall pick, which many analysts panned on draft day as "asanine" or "a waste of a pick," Murphy struggled to live up to his father's legacy as a Falcon rookie. However, it was not a bad rookie season on the whole, as he finished with 27 points and found himself contributing to both special teams units on a team that made a surprising run up the standings in the second half of the year. Murphy also finished 3rd in the SMJHL in hits, owing to a rambunctious style of play that has not made him many friends around the league. Improving his offensive output alongside an already developed defensive and physical game will be a key to Murphy's success, along with Detroit's.

Task 9:

I think the Quebec City versus Anchorage series has been by far the best so far, as it saw the two best teams in the league go head to head in a back and forth affair. Anchorage has built an identity as a defensive powerhouse over the last several seasons and their disciplined play was able to make the difference as they defeated to powerhouse Citadelles in six games, leaving the Laurifer Trophy-winning squad empty handed in a season many expected to end with their victory. Even then, it was a very tight series that included a close overtime game in Game 5 that gave Anchorage the series lead, and it really felt as though a single bounce at various points of the series could have drastically changed all of it.

Task 10:

The Detroit Falcons have a lot to look forward to in the coming seasons. The excitement of last season's draft where the team drafted Luc Blouin, Pavel Jeziak, and noted future bust Kermit Murphy at 2nd, 3rd, and 4th overall was well placed as the trio developed rapidly as rookies. Blouin in particular handled big minutes with aplomb despite his age, while Murphy and Jeziak were paired together for the majority of the year and provided nice depth scoring for the team. A big development for next season will be those three reaching the 350 TPE cap, alongside current top players like Jonathan Granstrom, Wen Baters, and Anton Mihailov reaching the 425 TPE cap. The internal development has been rapid and gives the team a significant amount of depth that should see them continue the momentum of their S57 campaign, and while I would still say QCC is likely a favourite again next year, Detroit should be competitive and potentially a darkhorse team next season.

Task 11:

Kermit Murphy spent much of his time preparing for the rigours of the SMJHL season by working on getting stronger and filling out his massive frame. He was successful in doing so and is already one of the more physically dominant forwards in the league, but his focus this offseason will be on adding more offense to his game. While he never expects to be a Theo Morgan-type sniper from outside the slot, improving his shot power, accuracy, and selection as well as his reads of offensive scenarios will help him create chances for the Falcons more regularly. In addition, he's been seen renting out icetime at a local rink in his hometown of Hamilton, Ontario and putting in intensive work on puckhandling drills as he looks to become more confident with the puck on his stick in transition. His combination of size and strength along with a soft touch should allow him to dominate the net front as well as control the middle of the ice in the neutral zone, and becoming that kind of dominant force will be a major boon to the Falcons.

Task 12:

Kermit Murphy's most notable attribute is evident the moment you see him, and that is his massive size. He's not just tall at almost 6'5, but unlike many tall junior types he is built like a brick shithouse with massive shoulders and legs, meaning he weighs a sturdy 225 pounds at a young age. However, he was a 4th overall pick in the SMJHL not just for this size, but for what it helps him accomplish on the ice. He is a dominant force along the wall and either behind or in front of the net. Very few defenders are capable containing him without help, and Murphy knows this. He will frequently draw multiple defenders to him while holding the puck before making a quick dish to a now unguarded teammate. He creates havoc in front of the goalie, and has a knack for getting a piece of point shots. His puck skills are better than he gets credit for, but he can stand to work on them further and build confidence carrying the puck. His shot is fairly average but with his size, he should be able to add a lot of velocity with some practice and tweaking with a skills coach. His skating is not bad, especially for his size, but it remains one of the weaker aspects of his game that he will have to work on over time if he hopes to make an impact at the SHL level. Decent scouts will love him for his hard-nosed style and projectability into a checking role in the majors, while great scouts will see him for what he could be - a two-way force of nature that has the potential to dominate every aspect of a game. Expect a team like Seattle to be extremely interested in Murphy.

I’m so fortunate to be in a position where I can help my local community and truly make a difference here in Portland.  One of my favorites ways to give back is to help with the local Portland Children’s Hospital.  So many of those kids are fighting for their lives every single day and it’s the least I can do to both help out financially and with my time.  From every game check, I donate 10% to the Children’s Hospital which goes to research and their laboratory supplies.  But more importantly, I go visit once a week and spend as much time as I can with the kids.  Many of them are huge hockey fans and we talk strategy, watch replays, play video games, or just chat about every day things.  If I can give them a break from their struggle for just a few minutes each week, it’s worth it.  We even hosted some of them at our annual Portland Night where they got the full VIP treatment at the arena. Prime seating, locker room passes, game memorabilia, the whole package. Those are some of the bravest people you’ll ever find and I could not imagine going through what they face every single day.  I can only try to do my part and help where I can.

The playoff format is absolutely atrocious and needs to be changed immediately.  What’s the purpose of the different conferences if we don’t have a Four Star Cup featuring one team from each?  There is pride in winning your conference in every other professional league, but for some reason we don’t have that here.  I also think that every team making the playoffs dilutes the regular season to a point of near-uselessness.  Regular season games rapidly lose their meaning and I think the best way to remedy this would be to move to a 6-team playoff format where we scrap divisions altogether.  The top three teams from each conference make the playoffs, with the top team getting a bye.  We could even to an eight team playoff with the top four from each conference and it would be infinitely better than what we have right now.  I’m honestly not sure how the current format could be worse.  The regular season needs to matter and we need to have true winners from each conference facing off for the title.  It makes too much sense not to do.

You just played out your very first season in the SMJHL to start a new chapter in your career. Overall, how would you say you performed in your rookie season? Did you meet expectations you set for yourself individually? What do you need to improve on for next season?
Requirements: 150+ words.

I would say that I both met and fell short of my expectations as a rookie.  From a sheer numbers perspective, I’m more than pleased with my goal scoring.  I managed to net 10 goals, which is more than I thought I would end with, based on my TPE and current built.  However, I also managed to have just 10 assists, which was a pretty big disappointment for me.  Especially because I had three assists in the first few games and seemingly disappeared in that regard the rest of the year.  The main thing I need to improve next season is definitely my consistency.  I would have stretches of games where I’d have high ratings and get multiple points, but then go a week without any notable box score numbers.  I know not everything is about stats, but I truly wanted to help my team more this season than I think I did.  The postseason was a harsh ending for me as I also hoped to bring home some hardware this year in Maine.  Overall, it was a mixed bag but there is plenty to be excited about for the future both in the J-league and in the SHL when that time comes.

So your team just got eliminated these playoffs, and have to look forward to next season where hopefully things go differently. What does your team have to be excited about for next season, where they'll have another go at the coveted 4-star cup?
Requirements: 150+ words.

Being eliminated in the first round was a true gut punch for us in Maine, but we have a ton to look forward to in the coming season.  We had an incredibly strong group of rookies that are among the hardest working and most talented in the entire league.  With Jonny Tsunami, myself, and Fredrik Stefansson all coming back next year, we have the potential to have one of the most cohesive lines in all of hockey. The three of us combined for 69 points this season and that number is set to absolutely explode after another off-season of training and conditioning.  We each need to take a big step forward to help lead the team next year and avenge the bitter taste of this season’s early postseason exit.  It’ll definitely be a challenge to make a deep run right after replacing our beloved GM CoA, but I have no doubt that we’ll come together as a team and make a deep run in S58.  We’ll have to replace some of Maine’s greatest stars as they’re called up to the SHL, but next year will be the young players’ time to shine.  The future is bright for the Timber, but we can’t take any days off.

It's officially the offseason. Whether you just won the cup or didn't even make the playoffs, it's time to take a break and look toward the SHL draft. In 150+ words, tell us how you're spending your time this offseason.
Requirements: 150+ words.

The second the Timber were eliminated, I got to work prepping for the SHL Draft.  First and foremost, I poured everything I had into my physical training and conditioning.  No matter what your skillset, if you can’t manage to stay on the ice for extended periods of time, you won’t be a successful player.  When I wasn’t working on my body, I both did my homework on the SHL franchises themselves and began the season-long analytics and film review from all of our games.  I want to be able to not only talk to my potential SHL teams about my performance on the ice in detail, but I also want to know the specific areas I can improve for next season and for my SHL career.  Staying on the cutting edge of analytics and detailed film-review is something that will help separate me in the Draft, as my potential suitors know that I can self-critique my play and use every mathematical and analytical advantage on the ice.  It’s not all work, though.  This weekend I decided to spend a quick couple of days at the beach for some rest from the weight training and conditioning while I spend time with my family and do some research on SHL teams with my agent.  Come Monday, it’s back to the grind with my endurance training as I try to put my best skate forward for the Draft.

Write a pre-draft scout report on your player from the perspective of a journalist covering the prospects of the S58 draft class. What do possible SHL suitors have to be excited (or perhaps wary?) about when it comes to potentially drafting your player?
Requirements: 150+ words.

Dogwood Maple is a center in the upcoming SHL Draft and current member of the Maine Timber.  Originally signed by the Timber as a free agent two seasons ago, he returned to Maine when they selected him with the seventh overall pick of the S57 SMJHL Draft.  Maple has a high energy, team-first attitude that SHL teams may find attractive, causing them to move him up their boards.  He’s a forward first and foremost with plus scoring skills, but his passing needs to be sharper to excel at the next level.  He can sometimes disappear for long stretches and needs to improve his consistency.  He’s a willing defender, but no one would mistake him for an elite defenseman.  He continues to work hard on his positioning and shot blocking and if he can improve that side of his game even marginally, he could become a very successful two-way player.  Overall, he’s a bit raw but has the intangibles and skillset to become an elite SHL player, given enough time to develop.  No off-the-ice issues, either.  I could see him going in the first round if he impresses during the interview process, but some teams may be nervous about his defensive skills.

Requirements: 100+ words.

Although the series ultimately ended in a loss for Kelona, our first round match up with the St. Louis scarecrows was a complete thriller!... with Kelona up three games to two..game six went to St. Louis in an overtime match up and then we immediately got on the ice for a game seven which rendered STL victorious. For many on that ice this was our first time in a game seven experience! The crowd size watching it, the intensity of the moment and knowing every play was critical. A. Which player from either team has the best name in this series (just the name itself, nothing to do with the player themselves).

This is a important question and after some thorough review I believe that Armada Goalie Chimkin Tendy has the best name in the finals. When I hear that name I see chicken tenders in my mind.. and I believe I am not alone on that.. clearly momma Tendy wanted those that call out her sons name to get hungry and I find that to be a #Delicious Endeavour. For historical reference I also see weed and scotch..

Nikolaj boyle is a kinda man. While one might view him as a savage on the ice, he is a kinda hearted man. His father was a police officer in Brooklyn and was heavily involved in the comunity. He taught young Niko the ways to be a good man off the ice so he volunteers constantly. Boyle has set up a charitty in honer of a dieses one of his teammates Zayne Rotzbua has. The illness is cald, "Stinkyness" and Rotzbua suffers from it. Leading Vancouver scorer Kappy also is someone who suffers from stinkiness, so Boyle knows he must do what he can to fight this. He volunteers at local Orphanages, which being adopted he relates too, and teaches kids how to stay clean and avoid being Stinky like Rotzbua and Kappy. One day he hopes to end stinkiness among both children and adults. But for now he focuses on the greater vancouver area, and plans on doing it during his time in the J's

Yeah so next season is going to be rough, but at least i should be sick. We are losing many capped players, and the replacements arent the best. I realize that we should be competing in 2 seasons or so, but for now only one thing matters for the whalers boys and girls, STATS. This is the year boyle breaks out and starts scoring for fun, we got a taste of it in the playoffs but Boyle is now a real weapon for Vancouver, and should be scoring for fun. The expectations are low, but guess what? they were low last year too and Vancouver almost made the finals. Who knows what will happen. Vancouver hit hard in the draft last year, and despite not having a first, we got about four players that have been earning hard, and one of those guys in a alien so thats rad. Boyle is one of the top earners in this class and plans to prove that on the ice.

Task #11 - 3 TPE

Its offseason and boyle is doing stuff. He did not get called up for his home team, but was loaned out to Canada, and plans on playing for the country that his club Vancouver Whaler, is in. There are only two things on boyles mind right now, winning gold, and becoming a high draft pick in the upcoming SHL draft. Only 5 teams have reached out to him so far, so he expects a lot of contact over the upcoming week. He wishes that teams would have scouted earlier so he would have a general idea of were he will end up, as now teams only have about a week to scout plan and draft. Boyle despritly wants to be a first round pick, waiting til the 3rd round to here his name called in the first draft annoyed him and he knows he is a first round talents and hopes that others care yet.

Task #12 - 3 TPE

Reasons you should draft Nikolaj Boyle. Firstly he is one of the fastest players in the draft, when your looking for someone to score a breakaway goal in overtime, look no farther than boyle. Vancouver was one of the top scoring team in the playoffs, and Boyle was the best scorer who played on the 2nd line. Any team can use someone like boyle to come off the bench and dominate and really change the game. It is important that team view boyle as a first round prospect. As a user, you know that he will be relayable and will earn well, he is a GM in the ISFL, so you can easily get a hold of him. A good mind to have in any SHL locker room, and is increadibly discord active, boyle will be a amazing user to draft to any SHL team and will not cause anyone to regret it.

The best name in the draft is puddles the duck, he is a god damn duck who plays hockey, another good name is Narboza Manyhands cause hes an alien who has not broken charecter in the 2 months i have known him what a god damn legend. Those two names are funny to me and i really enjoy them
