Detroit, MI-Thank you for picking the Detroit Tribune as your local newspaper for al tings Falcons. Today we sat down with Dickie Adua captain of the Detroit Falcons and asked him some questions.

Interview : Hello Dickie, thanks for sitting down with us today. First I want to talk about your successes on the ice with the Falcons. What allows your team to be so successful this season.

Adua: Well we are very much a team. We have bonded so much since the beginning of the season especially since we started off the season 0-3. The day after the third game we had a players only meeting in the locker room and we decided what kind of team we wanted to be. Since then the team has played much better and has us fighting for a division title.

Interview :You haven't played so bad yourself Dickie. Tell us how you have adjusted to the league so well.

Adua: Well all of it goes out to my teammates and coaches. They have helped me adjust to the speed of the game well by pushing me to be the best that I can be in all aspects of my game. I have worked hard all season and I think it is starting to show off. I'm trying to play well consistent defense while also chipping in offensively when the opportunity creates itself.

Interview : You say that they the coaching staff and your teammates have helped you adjust to life onn the ice in the NWJHL. How have they helped you adjust off the ice?

Adua: They have honestly been great. The coaches try to have as much interaction with you at all times and make sure that the guys are not having too much fun when they are away from the rink. Most of us players have our own apartments close to the rink. That is great and really helps all of us. This is the first time I have ever been truly on my own and it has been difficult. Cooking has been the biggest obstacle of the entire NWJHLl life so far.

Interview :Well that's too bad. What would you say is your best plate as of right now?

Adua: Well right now I can make a mean bowl of Raumen Noodles. Other than that I would recommend the nearest fast food restaurant because it is probably healthier than my cooking.

Interview Ok well we will move away from the cooking aspect of your life. How is the rest of life away from the parents?

Adua: Well there is alot of freedom when you live by yourself. and I mean alot of freedom. I can and have done whatever I want as long as it does not interfere with hockey. I'm not talking anything illegal. At least not too illegal. One night we ducked taped Drizzy to the couch when he fell asleep and then put him in the elevator. Surprising how long it took him to wake up. But its alot of fun. It is hard I'm not going to lie. I do miss my family but this is what you have to do to fulfuill your dream. That is my number one goal and I am doing what needs to be done to reach it.

Interview : You speak of your dream. I'm going to read between the lines here and say that you are talking about one day playing in the SHL. Am I correct in saying that?

Adua: Of course you are. I was not trying to be cryptic. I am in the NWJHL to win a Four Star Cup and then go on to have a successful career in the SHL. That has always been my dream and I will play in the SHL one day.

Interview : Do you have any favorite SHL teams? Any teams in the SHL you would not play for?

Adua: Since I was a kid I have always been more of just a pure hockey fan than any sort of team or player fan. Obviously kids have their idol but I never really had one that I enamored by. I respect every player and every type of player that makes it into this league and I want to take the best attribute that each has and put it into my game to make me a well rounded player. I will report and play for any team in the SHL. It truly would be an honor to play in the lague and I will be happy to play for any team. Not saying that that cannot change between now and SHL draft day but I would be hard pressed to refuse to play for any team in the SHL.

Interview : Let's get back to some NWJHL talk. I dont know if you say but the Firebirds ran an interview in the Prince George newspaper of Corey Tripp talking about your guys rivalry. Any response?

Adua: I did not see the interview. Honestly I don't know how he sees the rivalry as starting and to be honest I really don't care. The world knows it started with a dirty hit. As for our upcoming game I hope he does not think that the rivalry has died now that we have moved onto the next level. Obviously nothing is more important that getting another win for the Falcons but I will know when he is on the ice at all times. I will not go out of my way to get a piece of him but if we are both out there together I will get a piece of him and it will hurt. There you go Corey. I'm coming for you and the birds Friday night.

Interview : Well okay. Did not realize you were going to get so heated about the topic I'm sorry for bringing it up. Let's move on shall we. The other day there were reports of Blake Lively leaving your apartment in the morning. Is there any love in the air?

(Lively leaving Adua's apartment in the morning.)

Adua: Like I said there is alot of freedom when you live on your own. I would certainly like to hope that there is some love in the air. Blake is a lovely woman and absolutely stunning. We went out to dinner after one of my games and just enjoyed each other's company. Yes we did go back to my place to enjoy each other's company a little more privately. She did stay the night as it was too late for her to head home. We woke up before my pre game skate the neext day and had breakfast. She woke me up to belgium waffles. What a woman. She is an amazing girl and I hope to see more of her in the future.

Interview Well that is all the time we have for today. Thank you for sitting down with us again and we look forward to your next interview.

Adua: Thanks for having me and it is always a pleasure to sit down with you when I have some spare time. Get ready for your front page headline on Saturday. 'Adua and Falcons steam roll Tripp and Firbirds.

Go Falcons
