Simulation Hockey League

I haven’t been active in a couple years, but I came back because this is a pretty cool story about how SHL is more of a binding force than we all may think.

I recently moved up north for law school and was at a meet n greet event for the incoming students. Started talking to the person next to me and the conversation shifted to hockey. Not gonna namedrop the person but he was talking about fantasy hockey and then he mentioned he was part of this fantasy hockey league where all the players were fictional. Knowing thats exactly the spiel I used when i told people about it, all I said was “SHL or VHL?”

While the dude’s a newer create and wasn’t around when I was, we had a lot of fun catching me up on all the latest news and stuff going on around the leagues. It was really sick that in a time where i’ve been kinda anxious about meeting new people in a brand new place, it was this dumb shit that helped me connect with someone and make me feel better about the future. Seems like all of yall are keepin on keepin on and continuing to do your thing during the pandemic, and i’m really glad that the site still exists after all these years.

So shoutout to all you users new and old, and shoutout to the SHL for providing a place where all us hockey nerds from diverse backgrounds can get to know each other and play pretend for a little while. I’ll never forget all the shit I got to do here, all the friends I made, and all the laughs I got to have on the thunderdome.

I guess what I came here to say is that the world is smaller than you think, and never forget everyone else on the boards are real people who are with you in tough times.

damn thats actually crazy. Considering that there is probably only what, 2,000 people I assume that created in the SHL and a fraction of that would actually say that they are apart of it.
