It has been a long time coming.

Long time.

Rafael Boeck has finally come to the big league, advancing from the J into the SHL. It has been a rather amazing experience watching this skater do his stuff with the Carolina Krakens; his enthusiasm and keen mindset gearing himself for an extra season before his contract came to an end, turning him into a free agent. We had not had the opportunity to catch up with Rafa since the last interview and unfortunately was not available for an interview with him, last minute, gearing himself for the last few games of Season 66.

The player was signed on for a single season by HFFO for the Edmonton Blizzards and it is going to turn up the heat for a rather junior player.

Rafael looks in good form after coming off of a short break between the end of S65 and becoming a Free Agent. Whether or not he has done any amount of training is yet to be seen on ice. He has an uphill battle coming on with being a new signing and having been behind the curve where the senior teams are considered but he is still fighting. I look forward to seeing what Rafael can contribute to the team, but there have been rumors circulating that the player is considering hanging up the jersey depending on how performance is this season.

Could it be that Rafa has greener pastures?

Will he return to more local teams in Germany?

Speaking of Germany, DACH's performance in the WJC earned them Gold. It turned the tides since the last time DACH had played, and it was a delight to witness Rafael be selected again to form part of their roster for the second time.

So going forward, Rafael Boeck has a lot on his shoulders as he continues with the season with Blizzard.

Will he continue?

Will he fold to pressures?

Time will ultimately tell with the young player but their enthusiasm and love for the sport continues and I bid him all the best in the future whatever he decides.
