The Search for Darrow, Part 3

Alright, we're back with another swing for a Darrow card. Will I get it? Read on.

PACK 1

JCW! Such a nice dude, I miss him. Barengrub’s been traded a few times now, right? Hope they’re happy whichever team they are on now. Cool to see Cobb make an appearance (we’ll never forget one of the OG HTT boys). Weaver came on strong then life hit him. Isn’t he back? I remember seeing him post recently.

PACK 2
[Image: unknown.png?width=885&height=225]
Holy forking Argonauts, Batman! Two Mannings, a RART, and then both of @Vandy’s players! Darrow played with both Davenport and Vanderberg during his career. Alas, neither is Darrow himself. Still a super cool pack full of super cool people. Then there’s that Stars player I don’t even want to try to pronounce the name of. Holy poop.

PACK 3

I don’t have a ton of strong feelings here. Voloshin was Darrow’s S45 classmate, but didn’t end up working out. Braulin was @TheFlash second player (his first, Jason Kruger, actually was drafted by me. I wanted to draft Braulin but it didn’t end up working out that season. Glad to see Flash is back (off and on) with another player. He’s a good dude.

PACK 4

Nothing super exciting for me here. Maybe a few new cards? But in the end, nothing I’m dying to have. On to the next one.

PACK 5
[Image: unknown.png]
Mew Two: bot a scary Pokemon and a top six winger on my Platoon. I think I had one before, but I’m not sure. Edward Teach had a cool pirate thing going for a bit; sadly they went IA. Also another JCW—he was the defensive forward that walked to future Colorado Raptors could have a chokehold on the Brandon Holmes Trophy.

PACK 6
[Image: unknown.png]
Wow! That’s a Gabe! Yet another player who starred with Cassius Darrow for the Argonauts. Adam Kaiser I had to look up; he was part of the Kaiser family alongside DaBenchwarmer’s early player, but I don’t really know much about the user Kaisonious. Looks like they changed their name to Ghost at some point, and didn’t have a player after Kaiser. Kaiser had a long (810 game) SHL career with TEX, HAM, TOR, and NOLA. Cool! Also another Teach, and the first of many Sombreros.

PACK 7
[Image: unknown.png?width=885&height=225]
Prior to opening this pack, I felt like I had to be getting close. Other people have sent me screenshots of their recent Darrow cards in packs, so I know he’s out there. He just wasn’t in this pack. Still, there are some interesting cards. Ty Hoover was another S45 classmate of Darrow’s, Rashford’s a cool guy (despite being a Newfoundland alum), and Salo is one of several players from my fellow CBJ fan turned Toronto co-GM @mcgriddleluver.

PACK 8
[Image: unknown.png]
Okay, this is rude. My first ever draft pick as Colorado (co)GM was goalie Alexander Thorstrom. We needed a goalie, and right before the draft POOF there’s the return of Jesster, he for whom the Ryan Jesster trophy is named. I chatted with him and felt good about it, so I took him 2nd overall. Ope. It hurts, and I don’t like talking about the S47 SMJHL draft. There’s also the good backup soldier, Sergei Potvinov, who was very effective for Baltimore before his regression death.

PACK 9
[Image: unknown.png?width=885&height=225]
Greyson Cooper had a great SMJHL career with QCC and seems to be doing well for Buffalo thus far. And Carlos Brown is another great person from Colorado's past. I don’t have much else to say. NEXT!

PACK 10
[Image: unknown.png?width=885&height=225]
Bummer. I did trade for Anthony Archer once to load up for an S50 Four Star Cup finalist run. And I feel like Al Kayhall played for Seattle in that first season, but I’m not entirely sure. (note: he didn’t; he was available in that expansion draft, but no one nabbed him).
Let’s do one more!

PACK 11
[Image: unknown.png?width=885&height=225]
You know those random backup goalies that kind of just float around and many fanbases cheer for because they remember him with their team (think McBackup in the NHL)? I thought Brodeur is that. He was drafted by Colorado but flamed out as an EBUG, and I thought landed somewhere else. Turns out it looks like he never really played more in the J (oops?).

Another chapter, another round of disappointment.
