I was quite shocked to win the Jay MacDonald Trophy this past season, as usually players with maxed out builds usually suck. My hopes of a cup were crushed early once again, and that angers me that a season that I had gets wasted by the lack of effort of some players. (I am not name dropping anyone of course).

You are probably noticing the tone of this article, a mixture of being tired of the same things happening again and again, and the frustration of such actions. This season, I am betting on myself to not only exceed last season's point total, but become only the second player in SHL history to score 60 or more goals in a season. There is a catch though, it is also the last season of my contract though, so if you are another team possibly trying to get something going or have a strong shot at getting a cup, you can speak to me about why I would consider joining your team. But my current priority is winning a cup this season, and also getting it without turning people's head. I play for myself, as long as my desire to succeed is still there.

TLDR: I am testing the FA market next season, but I still have a strong chance to stay where I am. I just need to get my frustration out of recent events, and that I have my goals and plans set, but not written out yet.

Toronto did an all-in push and ran into a hot goalie. It happens. They’ve still got a great core and strong pieces. FHM is funny like that.

What you did with TOR last season was nothing short of incredible,
as a fellow GM, you did an amazing job extracting the absolute best out of the entire team.

Losing when, and how you did in the playoffs is definitely not for a lack of effort.
Hope you know I appreciate the effort you put in as a fellow GM in this league.

I don't understand how there can be a lack of effort by some players. With no test simming, we're relying on the sim engine that is unpredictable sometimes. If it's about TPE earning, I don't think one more attribute increase on some players would've made a difference in the grand scheme of things. I don't think it's fair to call out TOR as a whole like that.

Classy move calling your teammates out in public, you don't even have the stones to name them. Why would someone want to add that kind of backstabbing to their LR in FA?

oi, I'm not condoning slamming your teammates, but let's ease up a little here.

I feel for you Valor, I do. It's frustrating to lose, especially when you're putting in a lot of effort. Trust me. Winnipeg won the presidents trophy and didn't win the cup either. My player was frustratingly useless and it wasn't for lack of earning. Earning isn't everything and nothing in sim leagues can guarantee you a cup.

There's rare cases where this isn't true, but everyone wants to win the cup, no one is trying to ruin other's fun. But you gotta remember the human too, everyone here has real lives and not everyone can always commit to things 110%. I don't know who you're naming. I can guess, but I don't know. It doesn't matter though, everyone is in this league because they want to commit the time they can to this website. But the time people can commit isn't the same for everyone.

I understand your frustrations, I really do. I understand wanting to lash out. But there's better ways to do it, I promise.

That requires self awareness which is severely lacking.

I'm pretty sure I'd be on the low effort list ... but it's not like our players aren't producing.

Truly though, if anyone here has the sole ambition of winning a challenge cup then they'll likely spend their time here feeling miserable, unfortunately.
