The offseason is closing in on us, and we are almost at the SMJHL Draft.
Before the real busy season starts, and you're going to be answering scouting messages from every team, it is time to sit back and relax a little. Dreaming about how your life would've looked without hockey.
Written Task: What would your player be doing now, if he or she hadn't pursued a career in hockey? (250 word min.)
Graphic Task: Show us a picture of your player, doing what they'd do if they weren't a hockey player.
Reward: $500,000 for doing one of the above
Only current SMJHL Draftable Free Agents (S71 SMJHL Draftees, SHL class of S72) are eligible for this bounty.
There is no need to claim this anywhere. After grading the money should pop up in your account 'automatically'.
Deadline: Monday, May 15th @ 11:59PM PST
I feel like if Zach Cuff Jr wasnt playing hockey he would go back to what he would do as a pass time hobby in his shed back home in Newfoundland. Zach was an amazing welder he laid out some mint beads on wood carts he would fabricate for his old baymen clients. He could weld all types of metals. He specialized in TIG welding but was also very good with his flux cored and was no slouch with a 7018 rod. A 6011 welding rod would help him with whatever repairs he would need to do on dirty old rust buckets. Zach was already approved to do a welding program incase the SHL life didnt work out in his favor so its always something for him to pursue if he wanted too. Once he successfully acquired his journeymans in his trade he would start a ship repair company due to the amount of ships that are always around St. johns or anywhere in Newfoundland for that matter. Could also have it so its a mobile company and do jobs all around Canada. Zach Cuff jr would still play hockey though just not at SHL level he would tryout for the St. Johns Growlers (this would be after starting the ship repair company) and play with those guys to finish his hockey career. Once the ship repair company got on its feet he would have enough staff hired on to not have to worry about the daily work and could focus on winning championships for his province!
That one's pretty easy. Sunrise van de Schubbekutteveen, as his name implies, hails from the farming town of Schubbekutteveen where his folks are some sort of former noble bloodline. Legend has it that their forefather founded the town after growing his farm a bit too much and due to its distance from any major outposts, it served as an isolated corner inside one of the Netherlands' lesser provinces, Zeeland. His father, Jolly-Prince, happens to still own a large farm that presumably harkens to the days of the aforementioned forefather and thus, rose his pack of fifteen children thanks to his farming efforts... with the massive aid of Sunrise's mother as he himself isn't exactly very good with the simplest of farming concepts.

Should Sunrise never play for the local Zeeland Seagulls' junior team (...well, as local as it gets, the team is Terneuzen which isn't that close from Middelburg and therefore Schubbekutteveen itself), he would've likely entered the local school's farming program to learn the craft and then turn to the green pastures and the muddy land of his family's farm. Another option, one that followed together a stint with Kölner Haie in the German league was to work in the field of chemistry. Sunrise was a diligent Chemistry student at the University of Cologne and only truly accepted an invitation to ply his trade into the SMJHL after graduation, citing that he really liked the field and would probably go back to it once his playing days ended.
