Just days after falling to the Stingrays in 7, Gene Parmesan would have to walk into the draft and wait to hear his name called, it would seem like a great thing and to him it is, but after such a crushing defeat one can only imagine what it is like to have to go on.

In the 2nd round, 16th overall, the Minnesota Chiefs were up at the podium to select their player, oddly enough, Gene Parmesan went from losing in game 7 to a team that had just lost in game 7, so he had players around him that knew how he felt, but he wasnt the only Firebird to land in Minnesota. His teamate on the Firebirds, David Winter was selected 3rd overall by the Chiefs and Parmesan couldnt be happier with the fact that he has a teamate on the team where he is going to play.

"Its a great feeling knowing someone on the team, even if Winter wasnt there, then i would still have Miller, who was actually my GM last year, and now im going to be teamates with him, but it definitely helps to have a former teamate going to the same team."

Of course during the interview the subject of the game 7 loss came up,

"Its tough, its very tough, ill tell you that. I dont really know what to say other than that, we worked hard all year and just couldnt pull it together right at the end, its no help that R got suspended, then we released him, which i think was a good idea because of his behaviour. Im definitely glad to be going to a team that knows what its like to lose in such a game, although they lost in the finals, and the Firebirds were looking to get to the NWJHL finals, i have nothing but optimism going forward now, knowing that ill be with a great team."
