First of all,

Thank you to the committee and anyone else who's idea was renaming the award after me. Coming up on 6 years on the site, a lot has changed. I joined the SHL right when @DrunkenTeddy switched you guys over from JCINK to mybb forums. A move that helped move the SHL from a playerbase of barely 250, to now over 450 players now in those 6 years. The highs and the lows of being in a sim league. And being on an outdated platform like forums. Being able to reach users all over the world season after season to keep it alive. It takes a village. All the hard work, countless hours from everyone involved. Truly grateful of the community.

Knowing I've known people for about 6 years is crazy. Going from a college freshmen to now a couple years into having a real job. The passion never wavers. The SHL is about community first and foremost. Thats why its alive and is able to thrive. This morning I was going through some of my old posts when I joined. A few DM's as well from @adamantium and @Glyc. My original GMs. From @King who I did my first podcast about the SHL. To the other members who I did podcasts with @esilverm @Rich @adamantium and im sure I missed a couple here and there.

From the early friendships I made with @trella and @SlashACM and others from that server. Was a lot of fun.

The first big major project I did for the SHL was the trade histories. I still remember having my laptop, watching the flyers on the couch while I was going through the old trades. Confused by some, as GMs are terrible at making things clear outside of their context. But I remember putting it out there at first. I didnt really tell many people, and then I just dropped it. January of 2019. I should probably get back around to updating it eventually, but i saw a problem in the SHL. or a hole in the history of the league and wanted to fix it.

I also made a ton of media back then. When I created there wasnt a player analyzer, or anything like that. I was tracking TPE manually from week to week for my draft class and subsequent draft classes. I barely knew how to program at all. or how to use a google spreadsheet. @Blastmeaway was the godfather of all SHL Spreadsheets.

Becoming the advisor to the whalers, co-gm of the whalers, Updater, GM to the Whalers, Co-GM to Manhattan. Historian head, PT grader, rookie mentor, budget head, Co-Commissioner, GM of New England, helped starting the trading cards. Helped with starting the portal. I did a lot in the SHL.

Some of my favorites

Being able to help @downer with creating the portal. Without his time and experience, the portal just wouldnt be a thing at all. Forever grateful he joined the SHL, saw a problem and wanted to help. And then for taking the time to review my PRs so I can add stuff to the portal now
Being able to grab all the Old SHL & SMJHL Logos before they were lost to time due to Tinypic shutting down. Wayback machine did a lot as well
Rediscovering the S1 SHL stats
Going through the S1-S5 playoff play by plays to get the old playoff stats
Trade histories
Starting the SHN
Winning a cup with Vancouver
Winning a cup with Manhattan
Winning 2 cups with New England
Im sure im missing a lot

Some thank you's that I havent made

Having @DrunkenTeddy trust me enough with helping around the SHL a lot. From moving around things on the forum, to helping on the database wise (sorry @Grok). If anyone else deserves the renaming of this award, its Teddy. He's put in countless hours behind the scenes to make the SHL actually work. without him, the SHL wouldnt be as successful, and without a portal. Or we wouldnt have switched to FHM either. Remember the original index's made by Teddy.

@JayWhy for being a great mentor. I wouldnt have had any success in New England if he wasnt my GM in Manhattan. He taught me how to draft semi well. Build a great locker room. Coming up with a plan and sticking with it. How to trade well. How to communicate with players. etc, etc. One of the best GMs ever

My Co-gm of new england. @Snussu @TheHammer43 @jeffie43 @JR95 helping me run New England

@Glyc and @adamantium for getting me into management with the Whalers

To the whole SHN crew. Too many to list. But that was a ton of fun in the Pandemic to be a media machine. Really enjoyed the time put into that

@nour for being the commish and brining me in to be co-commish. Fun times. Think we made a good runway for the future of the shl. Definably made mistakes, and Finn & crew really took what we did and made it a million times better

@Rich for being my longest podcast co-host

@.bojo for keeping all of the old STHS stats. For the bojo box. Without him a lot of the old history just wouldnt be accessible. A lot of what I do wouldnt be possible

For everyone in Czechia as well. Shiny, Caltroit, Blast, Troy, Alaska, Off, CoA, Geck, Arty, etc, etc. Maybe one day we will win gold. But when I first joined, Czechia helped me really get interested in the league. Super grateful for being apart of the discord.

I know im missing so many more people. Just the ones that popped into my head. And things that stood out to me after 6 years on the site. We do it for the community. If it wasnt for the community, then I wouldn't have done most things in the SHL. If there wasnt the praise, feedback, appreciation for the things ive done. Whether on the micro scale of winning cups. Or the macro scale of trade histories, and other ventures like that.

Thank you SHL.

well you see, Luke is smart
Cheers luke, you rock
funnily enough, I also point to that Czechia LR as the reason I stuck around and actually lasted more than a season in the SHL.

also learning from JY gave me fuck all, idk what you are talking about (I definitely listened to everything he said)
Congrats luke, truly appreciate all the work you put in!
