FA Rankings? Draft Rankings? Matthew Buchesner Scoffs
"Listen, I understand you want to get your intentions out there, it makes sense to me. But Las Vegas at the bottom? Because we're rebuilding? We wouldn't be rebuilding if everybody just signed here."
Buchesner started off without even a question being directed his way. Off like a shot he tore into players and prospects alike making lists of team they want to play for, and those saying they don't want to play for.
"For current players who have made their keep in the SHL, I understand wanting to win, and not wanting to go to a team, I really do." Says Las Vegas Kings defender Matthew Buchesner, "But the prospects who think that they can designate a team not to sign with. No [expletive], I will draft you and make your life hell. Don't say you don't want to play for my [expletive] team, we are the bees knees! Some of you should be happy to get drafted to this league! A list, and Las Vegas at the bottom... What a crock of [expletive]"
Buchesner hasn't spoken to the media much since getting drafted to the Las Vegas Kings second overallin Season 13. His rookie season playing on Las Vegas' bottom pairing was more than lackluster, but he turned on the jets in the last season, notching 18 of his 23 points in the last 25 games of the season.
"I was weary after my [rookie] season, I got sent down at the end to play the last few games in the SMJHL and get some playoff action, and I was just lackluster. I was disappointed, and I brought it upon myself to train harder for the next season. I ended up being very satisfied at the end of my season, and I hope that is what to expect from my for an entire season."
Buchesner's beginning to the season, after being paired with Tom Gibson, was less than impressive, putting up 5 points in 25 games, along with 23 hits and 26 shots blocked. His second half would see him put up 18 points in 25 games, with 58 hits and 45 shots blocked. Is this the second overall Buchesner that we are going to look at in the future?

It is well known that defensemen take more time to develop, especially those of Buchesner's potential ability and size, but he has started to put it together, despite somehow already getting that "bust" label
"Leave me the hell alone. It's been two seasons of hockey, and obviously your biases came before the second half. I've learned so much from Due as my leader, and it is starting to show. Get off my case, I'll prove you all wrong quick. And I won't be afraid to rub it in your faces. Labelling busts two seasons removed...."
His agent, Zach Miller, commented on the matter by saying "... Buchesner has voiced his opinions, and I agree with him... Players avoided my Chiefs like the plague before we started to be competitive because of our terrible season... Some probably wish they didn't avoid us now."
Buchesner will go into S15 season stronger than ever, and bigger than ever, looking to make a real impact at what he does best. Playing the defensive side of the game, maybe with a little more offense than anyone anticipated out of him.
