Deener steps up to the podium to hold his first press conference after being newly named as the GM of the Texas Renegades.</div>

"There are going to be changes in Texas. Not only in the personnel, but the attitude of the team and how the league will perceive the character inside this locker room. We seek to build a team full of champions."
</div>

Those simple words meant very little at the time, but would turn out to be the exact definition of the offseason ahead of the Renegades.

In only a mere few days later, Chris Partlow, Jordin FourFour, Jim Lahey, and Logan Valentine would announce their retirements. Following suit, Bryson Thomaz would reveal he would like to be moved to the Buffalo Stampede, and Oliver Pettyfer would sign with the West Kendall Platoon, where her heart laid.

Change was definitely coming, and the Renegades looked doomed to enter a lengthy and painful rebuild.

<div align="center">Renegades All Good Things Must Come to an End Renegades </div>

Soon after the tumultuous series of events that seemingly sent Texas' playoff hopes into oblivion, Deener sought out to gain assets in return for his retiring assets. In separate deals with the West Kendall Platoon and Minnesota Chiefs, Deener was able to acquire two first round picks in the upcoming draft for two retiring assets in Jim Lahey and Jordin FourFour. Subsequently, he would deal off star winger Bryson Thomaz in a move that would bring back The Carl Mountain and 2 future 2nd round picks from the Buffalo Stampede.

The rebuild was seemingly on. The time was ticking for the entire team to be blown up and for a long and lengthy rebuild to commence. Without a true number one goalie ready, a depleted defensive core and an absolutely gutted top line, the Renegades would have no hope in hell in returning to within a game of the SHL finals again this upcoming season.

Jim Lahey and Jordin FourFour's time as Renegades came to a halting end</div>

<div align="center">Renegades Stuck in a Crossroads? Renegades</div>

With panic setting into the Renegade organization, Deener felt the pressure everyday from his team, with several questions being asked by the media and fans through every direction he turned.

"Are we re-building?"
"Are we even going to try and repeat?"
"What's going to happen with Partlow? Valentine? Kinsler?"
"Is Ogorodnikov ready for the starting role?"

However, Deener had a plan all along. When first stepping into office, he outlined to the league that he was not a GM Willing to lose assets for free. This included retirement. By gaining assets for his retiring superstars, Deener sought after Free Agency to replace those stars for free while dealing the current ones for future assets. Retooling on the fly. It has become the mantra of how Deener runs his team.

<div align="center">Renegades Setting the Foundation Renegades</div>

The biggest problem facing Deener was that the Free Agents he sought had many of the same questions as the fans, general managers, players and media around the league. "What are you going to do to keep us competitive?"

Deener knew he was dealing with an ageing, stale core who had many question marks surrounding it, and an anemic defense. With holes on the top two lines surrounding recent emerging superstar Maxim Horvat, what guarantee would any FA have that this can be turned out in the matter of one offseason?

Deener knew he had to do something drastic. And what he did next would change the shape of the franchise.

First off, thank you SO MUCH to Sterling Knight for your amazing seasons of service as a Renegade. You are a true Renegade and always will be, and we would love to some day in the future have you back. You were the reason I was hesitant on doing this deal, but in the end we needed to do something to stay afloat after our tumultuous offseason.

As for Gauthier, end of an era buddy. We hope Wadey one day returns.

To Nike, Maxy and Dooley, welcome to the Renegades. We are so excited to have all 3 of you and we know you guys will keep us on the path of competing. We also have two 1000TPE + dmen now locked up at hometown discounts of 1.5 mill per, allowing us to be active in bringing more players in.

This trade would shake the franchise. It would bring in familiar face Mikhail Krivakorasev, and two superstar defensemen that would alter the look of the franchises defense for seasons to come in Simon Palat and Chuck Goody.

Now, the league knew, the Renegades meant business.

Subsequently following the trade, Deener would close off on several days of Free Agency negotiations and announce the signing of two of the leagues premiere FA's.

We have come to terms with free agents Dymo Ranjan and Niklas Stryker</div>

Quote:Originally posted by Deener
We're so excited to bring in a player of Strykers calibre. He will replace Pettyfers production on the top line and push us into contention. Since being drafted together, it's been a dream to re-unite us and dominate the league.

So excited to have Dymo on board. We know he can thrive under our new defense of Partlow - Goody - Palat - Velevra and will show the league he means business.

I think a one-year deal was great for us to see if it was a good fit and for Dymo himself to see if he likes the culture.

Now, the offseason of re-tooling was complete. The only missing hole at this moment in time is a third line winger. Through a composed and methodical process, Deener had been able to completely 180 what seemed to be an extremely daunting and painful rebuild and re-establish Texas as contenders once again for the Challenge Cup in S25 and moving forward.

Welcome back to the role where you and I are both comfortable, Boon-y. You deserve this so much and i'm so extremely excited to work alongside you. I know we will come to be the best duo in the SHL.

With a new GM duo and attitude in Texas, the Renegades underwent a crazy off-season that, like Deener promised, would change the face of the franchise.

With this offseason, Deener sought to prove that he does not make empty promises. When taking the helm, he promised a competitive team and aimed to deliver.

Did he succeed? Only time will tell. But one thing is for certain: There are some new kids on the block in Texas. They're ready to shine.
