What This Is About:
So I'm pretty sure I'm not the only huge pokemon fan on this site. While waiting for pokemon Go, I was trying to come up with something to hold me over, and a got an idea. I wanted some competition beyond my circle of IRL friends, so I thought why not start a pokemon league on SHL?
If there's enough interest from other members, I propose we set something up on Pokemon showdown. Have a certain number of members act as gym leaders (ideally 8, but less if interest is lower. Maybe have an E4 if we get LOTS of interest) and have someone with graphics skills design some badges you can add to your Sig once you defeat them. Rules could be worked out later, but maybe have some kind of system where, if you lose to a gym leader, you have to win a certain number of battles against other SHL members to make another challenge (to encourage competition between non-gym leader members). Specific rules would be ironed out if there's enough interest to get this off the ground.
Anyways, if you'd be interested in this, or something like it, or would like to help out without competing, post here or PM me.

A Wild Rules Post Appeared
Team Composition:
1. No legendary pokemon.
2. Your team may contain anywhere from 1-6 pokemon. Gyms will have 4-6, depending on Gym Leader Preference.
3. We will be using all Gens.
4. Mega evolution is allowed* Still up for debate
Banned Moves/Pokemon:
1. No one-hit KO (OHKO) moves allowed (fissure, sheer cold, etc.)
2. No Mega Blaziken
3. That's it for now. More bans will be brought in only if things get out of hand, and will be discussed before implementation.
Gyms:
1. There will initially be 6 Gym Leaders. This will be increased to 8 if activity is high enough.
2. Gym leaders will each have 4-6 pokemon.
3. 50% or more of these pokemon must have the gym leader's chosen type. Pokemon who fit the theme (for example, Flygon on a flying type team or Gyarados on a Dragon one) can fill in the rest, so long as they can learn at least one move of the given type.
4.Gym leaders may be challenged in any order.
5. To challenge a gym leader, you must provide proof (via Showdown Recording) that you have defeated 3 other trainers. This can be done by typing /savereplay or hitting share during the battle, and sending the link to a leader via PM.
6. Defeating a gym leader in an informal battle, even if they use their gym team, does not yield a badge.
7. Gym leaders may challenge one another for badges, if they choose to do so.
Some Things For Discussion:
Current Gym Leader List:
1. Jedi - Fairy
2. ORIGINSZ - Fire
3. Jackson - Steel
4. JHS - Normal
5. Maxy - Dragon
6. Šatan - Ground
Feel free to ask any questions you have and make suggestions.

Get volunteers to be gym leaders (4,6,8)
-They will then choose types and assemble teams.
-Probably do some playtesting to check teams, decide on banned pokemon/moves, and work out flaws in the system.
-Have someone design badges
Then pick specific rules
-As I mentioned earlier, this is where we decide on the Banlist and in-battle rules, such as sleep clause, no swagger, etc. This will probably happen through group discussion.
-Also we will decide on the rules governing teams and how gym leaders are challenged. I don't want to restrict the pokemon pool too much, but I also don't want everyone using variants of the same OU team. So maybe some kind of system where pokemon from the higher tiers reduce the number of slots in your team. Looking for more ideas on this.
-As for gym challenges, you can record battles on Showdown as far as I know, so a simple system where you PM a gym leader with a link to the battles you won to earn the challenge (I'm thinking maybe 3) and then battle as soon as both are available would work fine. I don't think a specific gym order would work due to member availability or people getting stuck on a particular one, so they would probably be challenged in any order with the prerequisite being 3 battle recordings, or maybe just a recording of the previous gym victory.
Once these things are set up, we can start letting members challenge one another or the gym leaders and see how things go. Over time, gyms may be changed or added, rules shifted to reflect what's happening in the league, etc.
Pipe dream would be that this takes off and we establish a sub-forum to do challenges, discussion, etc. In there instead of here or through pms.
