Where does Ennis fit in now? I guess I'd try him with O'Reily and Okposo.
Maybe this?
Ennis O'Reily Okposo
Girgs Eichel Reinhart
Kane Larson Bailey / Gionta
Foligno O'Reily, Cal Fasching
Moulson?
Deslauiers?
I'm thinking of Kane as trade bait. What say you?
I don't know if Girgensons fits in on this team anymore, and I really don't think if he does it's a second line role.
I'd like to see the third line from last season kept together. Foligno and Gionta with...was it Larsson?
Deslauriers can just fit in on the fourth line with whoever else we want to put there, he's versatile enough that he'll perform at the same level whoever his line mates are.
I don't like how much the fanbase has turned on Ennis over the last few seasons, he has always bern a good soldier for us and his health problems arent his fault. I see him as a pretty versatile offensive player who can play anywhere from the 1sr to the 3rd line but i also acknowledge that he isnt someone you can fully rely on anymore, due to his health problems.
I'd almost like to see Ennis-Eichel-Reinhart. All three are pretty smart guys, would be interesting to see what they could do together.
Oh and re: Kane as trade bait, I don't disagree but I also don't know who at this point would still take him. Clearly his issues weren't Winnipeg-specific.
I know that Ennis has played all three forward positions and has played right wing the last couple of years. How is he on the left? I'm asking people who get to see more games than I do here in NC. I can't remember which positions he's most comfortable with.

I don't even like his style of play very much if I assume that he sorts out his off the ice issue. He's a great advanced stat guy. Shoot the puck wide and watch it go all the way down to the other end of the ice...But my Corsi and Fenwick got better! lol
Ennis on the first line with ROR and Okposo. I'd say Kane on the second line with Eichel and Rhino. Girgensons either centers the third line or plays the wing for Eichel/Rhino when Kane inevitably gets injured/suspended.
He still has a role. I was hoping we'd get Vesey so we could move on Kane or Ennis, but the plausibility of that seems less and less likely.

Ennis is really effective at negating the offensive skill of his linemates. I'd rather see him as a breakout waterbug threat with ROR and Girgensons. Let them do the heavy lifting and chip it out of the zone, and have Ty chase it.
Ennis - ROR - Girg
Okposo - Eichel - Reinhart
Kane - Larsson - Gio
Moulson - no idea - Des
Similar strategy with line 3, using Kane in place of Ennis. It's less skill, obviously, because Gio has nothing left, but same idea. Chip to the wing and let the fast guys be fast.

My only issue with Okposo on the Eichel-Reinhart line is that he doesn't play nearly as physical as his body type may allow. I've heard him compared to a Vanek in many respects. I personally think that line needs a PWF to complement the offensive skill set those two possess, but I'm sure Disco Dan will explore all options in the early goings of the season.
Vancouver takes Kane in a heartbeat

I've thought that too, but even if he's just a garbage goal scorer in a big body, I like the idea of him crashing the net and chipping in 20-30.

The way those kids can work the half wall and behind the net I'd tend to agree. I'd still like to see a more physical presence with them, but at the end of the day it's Dan's call.
You're overrating Okposo a bit, he's selfish with the puck and bad defensively. Still a good player though, take good care of him

That's why I want him to stand within 3 feet of the crease and just keep his stick on the ice
