I just posted the correction on this. And it was always contextual. Just worded wrong. That's why they were suspended but some others weren't. Because they were using it with a different definition. That being said I still think there's other words that could be used to express these alternate definitions and I wish we would use them instead of resulting in this type of speech to push buttons and rules for loop holes.

If it's contextual, then why even bother "banning" the word or making a rule about it? This whole thing is retarding the process of the league moving forward as a welcoming place.

"banned words" = we can suspend who we want and turn a blind eye to whoever else because "context"

lol

Because it's gotten to a point where it's insane that y'all need to be able to personally attack someone. That TD was atrocious with the amount of hate speech being spewed and this is a step in the right direction. The post just makes it where we updated the penalty for doing what we had before and more so listing a few specific words that will be more looked out for.

Let me ask you this. What reason do you have to personally attack someone that you need to go after someone using any of those words?
We could also just add an extension to the forums which automatically sensors those words.

If the league is going to auto-ban people for using them, this seems like an easier way to get the same outcome, and nobody needs to get banned.

You could have stayed in HO and fought it. I mean you were in there when we suspended some others for similar stuff.

no dude you're missing the point

nobody is getting banned because they are saying the banned words, it's because of the context of the banned words being used

Honestly why didnt dude and Iobese get suspended for their actions? Show the league that there is an zero tolerance policy about hate speech.

Kind of counter intuitive then. If you don't agree then stay and speak out against it. Again as I asked NJ. What reason do you have to personally attack someone with any of these words that this effects you in such a way to throw a fit about it?

Still being talked about. We're not done handing some out if need be but it's so much coming in at once right now. I apologize if it's not as fast as everyone likes but it's just been a busy week for us all.

It's always been to that point and frankly, for some, it will always be at that point. People will bring their feelings to the forum and get offended one way or another, whether it's derogatory words or posting their actual photo on here. Creating some sort of mish-mash rule subject to "context" isn't going to change that and suddenly move us in the right direction. It should be at the hands of HO in a fair and completely unbiased manner, hands down. As for the words, what does that even mean? "More looked out for?" So you mean to tell me that HO hasn't been looking out for "*****, *****, retard, *****" all this time?

Let me ask you this, do you think adding or updating this rule will do literally anything to mitigate people using hate speech in AND outside of the Thunderdome? Because to me, it seems like all it has done so far is make people use it more.

Being in HO was burning me out and then this lump of shit idea comes so of course I'm against it and obviously opt out.

i have no dog in this fight, i couldn't care less on what words people throw around on the boards. I can use colourful language to get my point across in other ways. My issue with what you guys have been doing and shown with this suspension is that I don't think it's right that you guys are picking and choosing who to suspend based on "context" of BANNED words. If it's banned, should it not be universal? If you're serious about a rule change, and you let other people get away with it, it makes you guys look like you don't know what the fuck you're doing.

Maybe you guys should look at re-wording the rule if you are picking and choosing who to suspend based on "context".

Maybe Im wrong but when I was reading the Explain TD I didn't notice a ton of personal attacks on people besides the initial offender Slash and or Dude. Yes the words "f****t and n***** were being used freely but I didn't see someone straight up calling a gay person a F***** or a black person a n****. I understand that HO wants to "protect" these minority groups but unless the word is being used to straight up name call someone for being a particular member of a group it makes no sense to ban the actual use of the word.
The bottom line is people need to stop being childish and just being contrary. If HO said you couldn't say the word blue there would be several people saying blue in the thread just to provoke. It's basically just common sense, no need to defend you "right" to disparage someone on an internet forum.
