THREE STARS OF THE GAME
1 - Vince Rieper (HALIFAX RAIDERS)
2 - Mr. Faceoffs (HALIFAX RAIDERS)
3 - Oliver Kovacs (HALIFAX RAIDERS)
ALL HALIFAX RAIDERS
First Period Goals
Shots for this period are 7 for Vancouver Whalers versus 3 for Halifax Raiders.
Vancouver Whalers : 1 - Halifax Raiders : 0
This game got off to a wild and quick start after an early slap shot from the blue line that hit the post by defender Tauras Karazija of the Whalers only 17 seconds into the game. Unfortunately for the Raiders, that shot off the post bounced straight through Pierre Laroche-Durocher's feet to Whaler Center Carlo Russo opening up the scoring early. Pierre Laroche-Durocher seemed increasingly frustrated with himself on the bench after the play also struggling to open a new bottle of lemon lime Gatorade, eventually removing his gloves to conquer the task.
Vancouver Whalers : 1 - Halifax Raiders : 1
The Raiders tie up the game a few minutes later with the help of third line rookie Defender (and future San Francisco Pride Prospect) Ray Bork. After Bork jumped into Whaler Winger Jack Kennedy's shooting lane his shot missed the net by what seemed like a mile. The puck wrapped around the boards and was retrieved by Raider Winger Vince Rieper. He and linemate Winger Oliver Kovacs give and go up the ice like magicians to tie up the game.
Second Period Goals
Shots for this period are 10 for Vancouver Whalers versus 8 for Halifax Raiders.
Vancouver Whalers : 1 - Halifax Raiders : 2.
After a Carlo Russo lazily dumped the puck, it was picked up by Raider Winger Rainbow Dash and her and her linemates put on a passing clinic. Tape to tape seven times before a missed wrister by Dash quickly picked up and scored by Raider Center Mr. Faceoffs in stunning fashion. Also stunning fans and teammates alike, after performing a 10 out of 10 backflip on the ice in celebration of his goal.
Vancouver Whalers : 2 - Halifax Raiders : 2.
Less than two minutes later the Whalers tie it up. After first taking advantage of a bad line change by the Raiders, an additional sloppy rebound by Raider Goaltender Kata Vilde off the Whaler shot by fourth line Center Crystal Roy. Whaler fourth line Winger Noah Nowes put it away, powerfully scooping it up top over the Vilde's glove popping Vilde's water bottle all the way into the stands hitting a man in the face focused on eating his BBQ nachos. The puck then luckily bounced off his head into his beer making for a nice souvenir and spilling very little beer.
Vancouver Whalers : 3 - Halifax Raiders : 2.
After Raider Mr. Faceoffs runs into the mystery Referee losing the puck. The Raiders capitalize, scoring again just over a minute after tieing it up to take their second lead of the game. During the TV timeout Mr. Faceoff is seen chatting with one of the ice scrappers who moments later "accidentally" bulldozed the same mysterious Referee.
Third Period Goals
Shots for this period are 7 for Vancouver Whalers versus 12 for Halifax Raiders.
Vancouver Whalers : 3 - Halifax Raiders : 3.
Just thirty seconds into the third period. Raider Mr. Faceoffs, evens it up with a wicked wrister. This time electing not to perform a celebratory backflip - rather joining with teammate Ray Bork to perform a Besti squat, a spread-eagle like move where the skater glides on two outside edges with knees bent.
Vancouver Whalers : 3 - Halifax Raiders : 4.
The teams decide to switch the lead again, this time the Raiders Winger Oliver Kovas scores SHORTHANDED . After Whaler Buck Maverick's silly pass attempt was intercepted by Raider Defender Pierre Laroche-Durocher, a quick couple of passes back and fourth ending with the puck in the back of the Whaler's net and a single tear down Maverick's rosy cheek.
Vancouver Whalers : 4 - Halifax Raiders : 4.
Can't stop, won't stop - San Francisco prospect and seemingly future All-Star SHL Winger Luke Thomason put on a dazzling display, skating past three Raiders after picking it up the neutral zone then scoring backhand... after a spinorama, evening the score once again. Thomason was seen afterwards blowing a kiss to fellow Pride prospect and current Raider Ray Bork.
Vancouver Whalers : 4 - Halifax Raiders : 5.
Not to be outdone by fellow San Fransisco Pride prospects, Raider Winger Vince Rieper gets the game winning goal half way through the third period. The Raider's successfully performing the flying V straight out of the Mighty Ducks movie, it was truly a sight to behold. Fans were curious why they would try something so odd on the powerplay but hey, I guess it worked.
