Can I get a good reason why not? I can't really think of one.

If a player's in his first five seasons, he should have the option to go back down provided it's cool with both management teams. Maybe add that the 350 build has to be the same to avoid weird redistributions to fulfill a niche role, but, I dunno.

Biggest thing is the definition, since it's a junior league. That goes into the whole debate on if it should be more like a minor league. The idea though is that people would just stay in minors all the time if there wasn't a limit. And people are already trying to lessen that limit more.

Well ... can it? If we're not going to change catering to semi-active people, and the motivation is to keep 10 juniors teams and have full rosters to avoid other roster player caps (the IFA rule or whatever it is), we should have the option for people (and SHL management) to stay in the J and sort of change the stigma such that people can have full minors careers.

Keep the eligibility only 5 seasons, that's fine. Make it contingent on management approval instead of letting someone go rogue or fall victim to his junior team convincing him to return.

I'm just throwing ideas around. All I've heard about the Head Office lately is that these ideas have been thrown around but nothing's happened, and that's either sad or a lie, so I'm attempting to contribute.
why would an SHL team pay for a player (not a prospect, but someone on a harsh decline) to play in the SMJHL?

They shouldn't, the J teams should pay the prospects salaries until they hit the big league IMO. Right now the J salary cap means next to nothing.

Move the salary back to the Juniors team.

We basically don’t have a cap anymore

I disagree with that. I feel like if we were trending in the direction where players who are declining would be wanting to drop to the SMJHL, it should be on the SMJHL team to pay for them. In the same breath, I feel that having prospects count as part of the SHL budget is appropriate, as it forces GMs to balance paying future assets with present assets (otherwise having $70M available to the main roster is too much, imo).

What about a meeting in the middle? Make the SHL team pay something small like 500k to retain the players rights, and then the SMJHL team foots the bill for training/salary/whatever.
Who would spend the millions of SHL $$ to redistribute TPE back into their bank just to go down for a few games?

Why would a GM tell someone to unbank only to tell them they need to spend a lot of their money, maybe some they don’t even have, so they can be sent back down?

Why do we want to crowd the juniors even more?

I think if an AVG SMJHL contract is $3M, the SHL team should have to pay half, while the SMJHL team pays the other half, so $1.5M/$1.5M and it doesn't count against the send down cap if anything. I personally still disagree with the idea as it's a junior league, not an AHL like league, but I can see the argument for it.
i'm too lazy to write a full response tbh, but basically smjhl should only be to help new players get ready for SHL.

Yeahthat smjhl has turned from a DEVELOPMENT league into something totally different. I think it works best as something purely for development
Sounds good dudes. I just wanted to offer the idea up! I appreciate the discussion.

I like it. More topics like this should come up. Always room for improvement.
