Following the example of other sports games, the S48 edition of the SHL series is going to feature different athletes on covers, depending in which country the game is sold. For the Swiss version of the game's cover, the featured athlete will be Sulak O'Hritea, @MyLittleHexx. There are plenty of reasons for that decision. Like Mark Streit in the NHL, O'Hritea has been on the vanguard to represent Swiss hockey in the big league over seas. During his first three seasons with the Manhatten Rage, O'Hritea steadily improved, getting more and more points every season. His hits have also greatly improved over time. In the one play off appearance he's had with the Rage, he scored a phenomenal 8 points in 12 games and delivered 52 crushing hits.
His production might have been a bit off this last season with being traded to Los Angeles, but in the 29 games he played for the Panthers, he still delivered 8 assists and 80 hits. With his prime still ahead of himself, that's definitely reason enough to be featured on the cover of SHL S48.

I think the best choice for cover athlete for the next SHL video game would be forward Viktor Marius of the Buffalo Stampede. This may seem like a weird choice but he has also been one of the most successful players in the league as of late and it is always good to feature the younger stars on video games to add hype and excitement so more people will buy the game. But why Marius?

Well, first, he plays a great all around game. He hits, he scores, he passes. He does it all very well and is one of the most well rounded forwards in the league right now. He also really burst onto the season is Season 46, with a dominant performance that undoubtedly helped his team to not only be the best regular season team but to their first ever Challenge Cup. This alone made Marius a recognizable face and it was only compounded with a strong follow up season in Season 47.

I believe that the cover of the next SHL game needs to be CrossFit Jesus @CFJ . Not only is he a long a great veteran presence within the league, he was one of the top scorers in the league. It is key that for someone to be a cover athlete that they need to be a great player, marketable, and a recognizable name. CrossFit Jesus hits all of these markers. On top of that, he's in great shape and can bring a new dimension to the cover. With all the working out he does, we can use the cover as a way to showcase what the SHL athletes look like below the gear. Get him in some wrestling tights, and oil him up, and those copies of the game will sell like hotcakes. Maybe not with the traditional gaming crowd, but ladies over 50 will swoon over the presence that he can bring to the cover. Imagine the SHL game looking like a magazine cover. It will definitely cause it to stick out on that game shelf.
This years cover athlete should be a no brainer. How are people even discussing this? @goldenglutes is one of the best rookies this season. Freshly called up to the New England Wolfpack he has been a great defender for us while consistently putting up points. If I wasn’t such a narcissist I would even say he’s better than me. After a disappointing end to last season, losing game 7 of the four star finals, he returned stronger than ever clapping bombs and making great graphics, especially for yours truly! Writing 150 words is very hard especially when you’re me. Speaking no longer about points, he even has the aesthetic to be a great cover athlete. I mean have you seen his ears, they’re so prominent. Also with such a lack of Asians in the SHL (probably) it would do a lot for the community for him to be a representative.
Dear EA, even though your hockey game has being going downhill since SHL 15 on the old gen, stop putting scrubs on your cover. Your doing the same mistake with your NHL franchise not ever putting the league best player on your cover (Sidney Crosby). Get it right this year and give us Jason Visser. For the last 10 years +, he's seen as the most offensive giften player in the league and you've been giving him no respect. 2x champion, multiple MVP and scoring awards, name it all. Yeah, younger players like Rafe Ulrich and Lil Manius are exciting but they have plenty of time to be the cover boys. Visser ain't getting younger and I swear if you don't pick him this year Ill start a thread on your EA forums insulting Ramjasing. Oh and I won't buy the game. You've been warned. Also please bring back GM connected, with love Ti-Guy Emond.

In my completely unbiased opinion, Hamilton Steelhawks star defenseman Finn Kruger would be a great representative for the SHL on this year’s EA cover. Kruger is a seasoned veteran of the league, and he has played for storied teams such as the Hamilton Steelhawks and the West Kendall Platoon, bringing a Challenge Cup to Miami in S41. Nobody needs a real reason for this PT, let’s be real, but he’s been a defensive cornerstone for his teams since he came up to the SHL, and he is currently serving a top-line role as a growing Hamilton team seeks a proud return to perennial playoff contention. Moreover, adam has been a great presence on the site since he joined, serving as a SMJHL GM for many seasons before making a jump to head office, where he’s served admirably. And let’s be honest here, wouldn’t he look just so damn good on that cover? Tongue

(cc: @adamantium hope you don’t hate me for pumping your tires a bit here, I had no inspiration for it whatsoever and it’s already 8 pm Tongue)
Minnesota Chiefs forward Bobby Watson rise to stardom deserves to reach new heights by being featured as the cover athlete of EA's next hockey game.

During the past few seasons, Watson was one of the top forwards for the Chiefs and led them to 3 consecutive conference finals and helped the Chiefs win the west in the regular season in season 46. He also was a top forward on the Chiefs in season 47 in performance. He set career highs in points, goals, shots blocked in season 46 and is arguably one of the best two way forwards in the league.

When Watson was asked how he would feel about being featured on the cover, he said " It would be an honor to be the first Chief ever to be on the cover"

Watson is a hardened veteran and in his prime seasons, what would be better than a guy that has become a house hold name to be there.

@Bobby Watson
The obvious choice for this seasons cover is Tommy Tuck. Tuck has been the best goaltender in the league for the past couple of seasons and was pivotal in Edmonton's cup win and rebound season. He should easily win his 2nd goaltender of the year award in the past 3 seasons. Tuck is a fan favourite in the Edmonton, he is often seen kissing babies, donating large cheques to charity, and spending countless hours with fans. This is the kind of player that people will buy the game just because he is on the cover. Every future hall of famer should get their chance on the cover. Don't wait too long like they did with NHL 14 and put an old past-his-prime goaltender on the cover. Do it now, when Tommy tuck is undoubtedly the best goaltender in the league. Cup champion? check. Best player in his position? check. Kinda cute? double check. Tommy Tuck is the only choice for this seasons cover. @Muford
Luke Atmey should be on SHL 48 video game cover as he had a remarkable MVP caliber season finishing 6th in the SHL with 58 points only 4 back of 1st and with not that much help from his team with over 20 more points than 2nd in scoring on Chicago. Atmey didnt just stop there as he dragged Chicago into the playoffs and started playing at an even higher level upsetting the Manhattan Rage in 5 games while scoring 10 points in the 5 games but then ultimately being stifled by the West Kendall Platoon and their defense as they swept Chicago. While Luke Atmeys defensive game and work ethic are questionable, his offensive superstar talent and selfish cocky arrogant attitude make him the perfect choice. Also while Chicagos jerseys may suck black and yellow are awesome colors and when was the last time a black and yellow has graced the SHL cover perhaps around like S15 in the old LA era. @Velevra
