Our homeboy commissioner Eggy216 hit me up knowing that other than being a professional hockey player I was also an entrepreneur on the side. He said, “Hey JT we need another SHL franchise get on itâ€. No problem, I know just the place. No hesitation really. Wood Buffalo, Alberta. This is a town that is just begging for some professional sport to rally around, and who wouldn’t want to play there. Wood Buffalo is like the Vegas of Canada, non-stop excitement. I ran a team naming competition in the community and the top choice was the Wood Buffalo Bears (we would have went with the second top choice, but that was the Wood Buffalo McWoodBuffaloFace, Wood Buffalo resident’s aren’t exactly creative). The Bears will play out of Fort McMurray’s Casman Center, and the mascot will be a grizzly named Bruno. He will be instructed to copy the antics of Benny the Bull from the Chicago Bulls as most Wood Buffalo natives do not use the internet so will not have heard of him before.
