RE: S48 PT #1 - SHL Draft Kit S48 - Leoben - 06-23-2019 Quote:SHL sleepers and undervalued players: People usually go for the wingers and forwards first and while that makes sense a two-way defenseman like Fredrich Koenig can't be overlooked for two long. One of my players got to play alongside him many moons ago and he was an excellent linemate. He leads all other defenders in points and was third in shots blocked at the end of pre-season. Anticipate those numbers to be similar or better by the end of the regular season. Koenig is incredibly valuable in Chicago and I'd anticipate him off any board early in a draft. He is definitely the top defender in Chicago as Owens is getting up there in age. Koenig averaged just over a point a game in pre-season so that's solid work. When other people start looking for defense in the draft, it will already be too late for you because he'll be gone. @teztify RE: S48 PT #1 - SHL Draft Kit S48 - karlssens - 06-23-2019 Bold SHL predictions: This article discusses some of our boldest predictions about the upcoming S48 season. Atop the east and west conferences at the end of the preseason we have two very surprising teams, the Chicago Syndicate and the Winnipeg Jets. While neither team is terrible, in fact the former made the playoffs last season, it definitely came as a shock to say the least when they finished as the top seed. I predict both teams will continue this torrid pace right in to the regular season and continue to surprise the league. While I highly doubt they'll both go top seed in their respective conferences again, they both comfortably sit in a playoff position come the end of the regular season. A big reason why is the veteran play of their top forwards, Luke Atmey and Jason Visser. Atmey has been everything and then some for the third year expansion club and should continue to put up lofty totals again in S48. The same can be said of Visser who shows no signs of ageing despite entering in to what is now his 8th season of regression. While both have a cast of teammates ready to chip in offensively, these two fellas definitely lead the way for their respective clubs. RE: S48 PT #1 - SHL Draft Kit S48 - BarnabasCollins - 06-23-2019 Code: Bold SHL predictions: This article discusses some of our boldest predictions about the upcoming S48 season. The SHL is a cyclical league, some teams dominate for long stretches but not everyone is able to pull a Calgary and keep an elite level of play even during a rebuild. Players get older and once dominant teams start to fade away and miss the playoffs. Two such teams that will miss the playoffs, my bold prediction is that Edmonton and Buffalo both miss out on the postseason this time around. The past few season we've seen both of these teams at the top of the regular season standings and they have gotten a cup in the past couple but all things come to an end. Age will catch up with both thee teams and as other younger teams come up in the ranks these two stalwarts of the past few seasons will begin to fade and take a back seat to the up and coming teams. It will shock many and people will say I'm out of my mind but that is the bold prediction for the upcoming SHL season. RE: S48 PT #1 - SHL Draft Kit S48 - Sean - 06-23-2019 Code: Bold SHL predictions: I believe there needs to be some big movers and shakers in the West. The East has a clear power structure with the best teams being great and the worst teams being far out of the playoff picture. The West on the other hand has 8 teams that could all make the playoffs. I doubt the SHL GMs want to leave their season to an extremely uncertain set of circumstances. My bold prediction for this season is that there is going to be some huge moves made in the west in order for teams to differentiate themselves. This could lead to an all-out arms race. There are bottom feeders in the east who will be selling off any valuable assets they have, and they most likely will want to keep them out of the Eastern Conference. There might also be a team or 2 in the west that gets off to a bad start or realizes they are getting older and might want to hit the reset button. The situation is perfect for some big in-season moves and I believe we are going to see a lot of them! According to the book-makers, there are two big favourites on winning the Jesster trophy. There is Los Angeles Panthers' Borromini Cannelini @ArGarBarGar and Collin Gibbles @SpartanGibbles of the Minnesota Chiefs. Jimmy Slothface @slothfacekilla of the New Orleans Specters and Hiro Fujikawa @"Marley, Cannelini's fellow Panther are obviously also solid choices. However, in the preseason, there were some other young players who threw their hats in the ring. Tampa Bay Barracuda Defender Akashi SixNine @FourFour has scored 4 goals and 28 assists and came rather close to the top scoring defenders of the league, which is very impressive for such a young player. But another Barracuda brought up even more impressive numbers in the pre season. Center Matt Kholin @Kalakar has scored more points than any other rookie by a big margin. 14 goals and 27 assists were good for 9 more points than any other rookie managed to score in pre season. All in all, the league has gotten a lot of good rookie entries this season and the race is wide open. RE: S48 PT #1 - SHL Draft Kit S48 - nubbedindaribs - 06-23-2019 Code: SMJHL prospects to draft and stash: Let's take a look at this snake bitten kid here Jon FortyOne @C9Van. Here's the thing: this player is gonna be a stud. He's gonna be a light the lamp and then go back for seconds kind of player. Yeah, right now he's got a little monkey on his back problem going on. Actually, not even a monkey. Jon has a full grown Silverback Gorillia on his back. The kid can't seem to find the back of the net whatsoever. But I'll tell you what. This man's ceiling is higher than ol' ashy Notre Dame. He's gonna be an extremely versatile player that will have no holes in his game. Forecheck, backcheck, paycheck baby. Keep this kid in your mind when you get into the later rounds in fantasy. Once he starts heating up he'll lead your team to post season glory, I guarantee it. He's got everything in his toolbox to be a real good player. RE: S48 PT #1 - SHL Draft Kit S48 - Leppish - 06-23-2019 Code: Get ahead of the Awards report: Scott Stevens or Bojo Biscuit Trophy: I think Minnesota Defenseman Geoff Moore might be in conversation for D-man trophies or possibly even a most improved player award in the near future. With Moore's skill levels constantly getting better, he's also getting relied on more every season by the Chiefs. Currently playing the most minutes of any player in the league, Moore has managed to put up 13 points in 15 games so far. With plenty of season left he might even be looking at some awards committee considerations this season if he can keep it up. Not only is he 9th in the league for Defenseman scoring, but he is also blocking shots at an elite level, currently sitting 3rd in the league in that category. Only downside i see for Moore in awards votings is his lack of physical play, onl recording 2 hits so far. But at the same time he also has not taken a single minor penalty yet. @ me RE: S48 PT #1 - SHL Draft Kit S48 - DollarAndADream - 06-23-2019 SHL sleepers and undervalued players: I think as far as sleepers are concerned, Mikael Choybuk has to be up there. He goes undervalued to a lot of teams, but he brings a lot to the table. Maybe his 27 points in 50 pre-season games is nothing to go crazy about, but his presence in the locker room and knowledge of the sim are bar none. He is one of the more consistent producers in the practice room, and a reliable guy compared to somebody else you might sign or draft, and I think Choybuk has more potential than people think. Even looking at his current pace at the beginning of the regular season, you can tell he brings his game. He is a goal scorer, and all he has right now is 5 goals. Not only that, but his shot percentage is at 21%, which is among the best throughout the whole SHL. I think if you are passing on this guy, you would be in the wrong. I expect him to get even better as the season goes on. RE: S48 PT #1 - SHL Draft Kit S48 - ProjectSaint - 06-23-2019 Code: SMJHL prospects to draft and stash: "My only wish is to silence those who doubt me" - Mika Kandesky ![]() ![]() Make no mistake, this guy is here is just meant be a star. The S48 #10 pick has decided to use this preseason as a statement to all other players to watch out for him. 42 points (14G, 28A) this preseason will back that statement up from MK77. Don't be suprised is he decides to dominate on both sides of the puck. "If I improve on this in the regular season, it just means that I could be the steal of the draft" - Raphael d'Alcott ![]() ![]() A saintly demeanour to match his performance this offseason. D'Alcott notched in 29 points (9G, 20A) this offseason, a very good performance for the 2nd rounder, but he is already claiming that you'll see more of him, and with the report of his hard work ethic in Anchorage, I'd start getting a shrine to D'Alcott if I was you. "I mean, in Russia, I took all the vodka I needed to dull any pain I take" - Piotr Horvat ![]() ![]() If you hear a silent URAAAAA, just prepare your soul for the destructive force know as the Horvat Train. The Russian tank has bowled in 107 hits, good for 4th in the league, coupled with an impressive 21 points (2G, 19A). I wouldn't want to stay in the way of the Horvat Train, lest you want to be sent to the infirmary. RE: S48 PT #1 - SHL Draft Kit S48 - JT3 - 06-23-2019 SHL Dynasty report: What young players in the SHL should you draft and stash? here we target those players who will one day turn into draft day stars. Borromini Cannellini - This guy is going to be a stud. His progression rate is off the charts. He is going to be good, fast, and he will remain good for a very long time. His value is only ever going to go up, so draft and stash now. Charlie Schieck - Already a decent fantasy option, but Schieck will soon be the bonafide #1 defenseman on the team, and with San Francisco's core slowly getting better and better, look for him to put up massive numbers in the near future. Gordie Boomhover - With Mattias Enqvist retiring, he leaves a massive hole in the first line center spot on the Wolfpack. Unless a winger is shifted to the center position, look for Boomhover to fill that spot as soon as next season. His fantasy value will explode, so draft now! Luke Thomason - Already the #1 center on a Manhattan Rage squad who are built to compete for a long time to come. Thomason already puts up decent numbers, but look for them to get better as the Rage keep improving. Draft him now if you haven't already. RE: S48 PT #1 - SHL Draft Kit S48 - Mac - 06-23-2019 I would go the easiest route on this point task, and simply state that it is the most overlooked and underrated player. It frustrates me to see, that the scouting staff didnt pick up on Raph d'Aclott, who joined late, but was 20th in TPE gained. That is damn impressive, considering he was breaking 200 at the time of the playoffs, and got to 300 before the start of this season. He is the sort of rookie who will make a name for himself all over the league for years to come. Either has a player, an agent, the father of a player, or all of the above. In his time in Anchorage, he has proved to be a strong lockerroom presense, a great teammate, as well as leader due to his undeniable work ethic. In the preseason, wth a supporting cast of rookies, he managed a solid nine goals and twenty assists, what would be a very solid sophormore showing. However, as he gains experience those totals will rise, mostly due to what would be inaccurate shot, because while he was in the top 5 on the team to shoot the puck, his shot percentage was amongst the bottom 5 on the team as well. Once that has resolved and the supporting cast around continues to improve, I could easily see him eclipse the forty point mark. And this, from a player skipped over twenty five times before Edmonton made an absolute steal. Make my words. Screw Flanders. RE: S48 PT #1 - SHL Draft Kit S48 - Tomen - 06-23-2019 Code: SHL Dynasty report: It depends on the definition of young but I would say Alexander Selich. He was picked fairly low in the second round of the S45 SHL Entry Draft and will one day become hopefully one of the best players taken in this draft. He has all the tools for a great career and he is one of the very few very big guys on the ice in the SHL standing at 6'10 and 280lbs he will be a physical force one day and rack up a ton of hits on the opposing players. He is also a player that is further down the lineup in the Stampede system because of so many great forwards ahead of him but I believe that in S49 Selich will finally see top 6 ice time and prove his doubter wrong and help to turn Buffalo into one of the most dominating teams in the east. @Tomen RE: S48 PT #1 - SHL Draft Kit S48 - ToeDragon84 - 06-23-2019 ![]() @Wasty RE: S48 PT #1 - SHL Draft Kit S48 - jaimeac - 06-23-2019 Code: Code: SHL sleepers and undervalued players: Player: Hiro Fujiwaka of the Los Angeles Panthers. Fujiwaka is a value pick that could be interesting if he sticks high up in the panthers line up. The team lost a lot of talent last year and rookie sensation Fujiwaka could be the guy to pick those minutes up. In preseason he showed that he is an important player for the new look panthers, he played top line minutes alongside Max Mauldin and Phillip Winter and also got time on the powerplay. I seriously believe that he's gonna have a great rookie year with the panthers on a team that is looking for scoring depth after dealing players last year most importantly Sophia Bennett. Fujiwaka was regularily the most exciting offensive player for the SMJHL's Anaheim Outlaws and proved that he could carry a line at that level. I wouldn't expect him to reach that level in the SHL right away but he's definitely got the potential. Preseason numbers shouldn't be over relied upon but 26 points including 11 goals is nothing to scoff at for a guy that I honestly believe has just begun showing what he's got. 189 words @"Marley" RE: S48 PT #1 - SHL Draft Kit S48 - bana - 06-23-2019 Code: Get ahead of the Awards report: One of the best things for a player throughout the regular season is the race for glory. Of course the main battle is to see who hoists the championship at the end of the day, but if we're looking outside the main motive, the drive to thrive is surely alive in most players. They want to be the best - they want to win, score, shoot, be dominant, make the big hit and be the player the teams can count on. Year after year we continue to be amazed as players are forever remembered in memory for playing big and racking up the awards in the Simulation Hockey League. I don't think this year is going to be any different for the fans, players and those involved in this wonderful league and game of hockey. For this season, the preseason has come and gone and with those statistics, we're going to give you some good, bold and bad predictions for this seasons awards. Remember, we're ignoring the current regular season stats for Award predictions, but will jump to them from time to time because we can. Most Goals
Jason Visser of Winnipeg currently takes the cake for this award as he rolled the season with 35 goals - 6 higher than second place. That's an incredible amount and the fact he did this through 50 pre-season games is absolutely amazing. He's always been a great force and dominant player to watch - often being a strong component in Winnipeg's success and thriving fan base. Right now, Winnipeg is rolling in the league and seemingly, they've kept up the magic that they were feeling in the pre-season. Visser sits 3rd right now for goals, but if him and Winnipeg keep it up, expect the climb to potentially and most likely continue. Most Points
Visser led the way once again with the most points in the pre-season with 76, which also happened to be a strong amount over the next number and a very memorable run when it comes to where he stands point wise. Lil Manius seems to be running the show this season in Winnipeg this regular season and to me, if Winnipeg keeps it up, it's a fun battle between two teammates to see which one can end up higher because right now it could be either one. Best Goalie
Chris Partridge reps this in the pre-season with some fairly good stats and a record. There's another guy who contends for this title but at the moment, they take the cake here. NOW.... If we're basing this off the regular season stats, it's a whole new game. He's near the lower ends of it - while 4 other goalies arguably are the best this season with some extremely attractive record and statistics.THE END. |
