Yes! Willie Miller did go to a special hockey school for up and coming hockey goalies. This is where he learned to hone his skills both on and off the ice. At most hockey schools, they teach you in conventional ways, but Willie never actually picked up a hockey stick until his 16th birthday. Up until then, he followed a special training regiment that did not allow him to use a hockey stick. This perfected his mind for the game before he ever had a chance to hit the ice, putting him far ahead of all the competition. With this nice head start he had, all that was left was learning how to skate. Unfortunately, Willie was awful at skating and had no sense of balance what so ever. Because of this, he decided his best course of action would be to be a goalie because they do not have to skate very much. This proved to be a great idea as he has now was two championships with Seattle and should have many more to come!

Player prompt

Sea jebus grew up in small town by a river in the middle of Saskatchewan. Small town hockey was life for the little town and it seemed that every family and their dog would spend many hours and days at the Skating barn and playing frozen river and pond hockey in the winter. Everyone dreamed of being an Shl star and we all had our favorites growing up. Every Saturday night everyone watched the big games of the shl on TV. Sea jebus was born with the hockey bug and followed in the footsteps of his father, grandfather, mother sisters and brothers learning to skate at a very young age. He joined the local Tim bits hockey club at the age of 5 years old and they would play the kids of the surrounding small towns as a league. His parents would get him out on the ice whatever chance they had and Sea loved learning and growing with sport. When Sea saw his first shl game live he knew that he wanted to be part of it. It took alot if sacrifice and growing to become where he is today and it continues to be a tradition in the same small towns today.

Tommi K the goat loves hockey, That's why Tommi decided to start a hockey camp for schoolkids. He knew that not every child had access to the same resources and opportunities that he had growing up, and he wanted to level the playing field. Like some equipment or some help getting to the camp and some games. The camp was held at a local rink called the tommi too rink, and Tommi recruited a team of experienced coaches to help him. Every day, a group of cool kids arrived at the rink, lacing up their skates and wearing their tommi k smelly time big boy jerseys .Tommi and his coaches led the kids through a series of drills and exercises, teaching them the fundamentals of the game. They worked on passing, shooting, and skating, and the kids' skills improved by the day. Tommi loves this because he love sbeing around kids and helping them learn the game that he is so very very good at and does  agood job making really fun times for the kids at the camp. They eat pizza at a big pizza party and every always has a really good time eating pizza and playing hockey by the hour and days.

Hugh Manius’s hockey school training would bring in all the elements of the game, along with pain. Lots and lots of pain. There would be several drills involving fighting for the puck in the corner type drills which Manius name himself, such punch the guy in face while he is going for the puck, drill the guy in ribs with stick, and who could ever forget sweep their legs and punch them in face while they go for the puck. Other drills names were pretty self-explanatory such as fire the puck for the point as hard as you can, level your opponent during a face off and the all-important drill, how to take a punch and standing up after taking punch. These were a just a few of the core training classes. The cost for the training was usually very affordable unless the child’s parent played for an opposing team then Manius cost of training sky rocketed.

well first of all the program will cost a lot of money my program because i think keeping hockey an expensive sport is good. so i’m thinking like 10 grand at minimum to attend my really good hockey program. and you’re so right kids these days like playing fortniew and eating muk so how do we get them involved in a boring dying sport like hockey? we gotta trick them into coming here. we say hey man come here we got a petting zoo with lottle pigs and you get pet them and who knows what else you can do with them. and then once you have the kids here in the camp it’s easy pickings. you give them a stick and throw some pucks in there and who knows what’s gonna happen. the yell be playing hockey and having a blast at my cool nice hockey camp.

Nibbles first saw hockey being played when he was just a tiny little squirrel that did not know how to even bury or find an acorn yet. His home was situated near the local pond and every winter when the pond would freeze over he would watch all of the local kids and beer league players play this absolutely magical game. He would spend hours sitting on the branch watching the games and finally one day he decided to go down there and give it a go. A local kid quickly taught Nibbles how to play the game and in no time Nibbles was playing in games and discovered that he was a natural and these games for funs quickly became a career opportunity as he decided he would love to play in the SHL. Now many many hours of skating, puck handling, and workouts later he is enjoying the life of a successful SHL hockey player that has a ton of potential.

The best skill that anybody could take away as part of hockey program is resilience and effort in my opinion. That way, rather than the overall success, what's important and highly valued is the consistency of continuing to try even when things go well or not, and looking at the bigger picture of the effort it takes to get to a point, rather than the results of it.

For example, for the kids looking to develop their shot, the focus that coaches will be putting through is building the ability to extend their practice duration over a period of time. That way when they recognize how much they've progressed in both their accuracy as well as the number of shots they're able to take, there's a sense of both improvement and recognition of the prior efforts being building blocks that lead to the improvements.

For something like skating, looking at how the bit of time spent on the fundamentals being the core focus as opposed to being timed.

Player prompt:

Finn Brandt put on his first pair of hockey skates at 2 years old, which is sort of a tradition on his mother’s side of the family. It’s sort of funny as his dad barely knew hockey was a sport before he met Finn’s mom. His maternal grandfather was a professional hockey player in Germany and his uncle also played for Germany in the Olympics. He was constantly playing mini sticks with his older cousins and quickly fell in love.

Finn did go to hockey schools in Germany as his uncle had an in. He almost quit playing after an ankle injury in his early teens that kept him out a whole year. After rehabbing his ankle and being away from the game for a whole year, Finn went to a camp in North America to compare himself to other teens around the world in his age group. He was quickly assessed to be a draft pick in the SMJHL. Finn hasn’t stopped working towards his goal of being a professional hockey player since his injury.

Ralph Ryan learned to play hockey in his hometown in Minnesota. He grew up in a family of hockey fans, and his father played at a local level. Ralph was introduced to the sport at a young age and quickly developed a love for the game. He spent most of his childhood playing pond hockey with his friends and spent hours practicing his skills and improving his game. As he grew older, Ralph began playing organized hockey for his local youth team. He worked hard and quickly became one of the top players on the team. His talent and dedication did not go unnoticed, and he was scouted by several junior teams. Ralph went on to play for a few junior teams before being drafted into the SMJHL, where he started his professional career. He still remembers the many hours spent playing pond hockey with his friends and the lessons he learned from his father, who was always supportive of his hockey dreams. Ralph's hometown has always been a special place for him, and he enjoys going back to visit and give back to the community that helped him get to where he is today.

Homegrown Canadian boy. It’s much like football or baseball is to the US or Futbol is to Europe. Hockey is built into the systems of every Canadian. It is the sole sport that everyone is built on. The Moxii family grew up on some land. Well over 100 acres. Multiple ponds and they freeze over often. Enough so that the biggest pond is used as a rink. During the summer time Synthetic ice tiles are used in the immediate back yard of the home up until Shylo was 12 years old when his father installed the synthetic ice in the basement. It became a lifestyle for Shylo. It no longer was just a hobby to him. It became something he wanted to do with his life. The discovery of new techniques and different ways to play was an obsession. Shylo in his older years started to work out more and more. He became a farm boy all in shape for both the ice, and bailing hay.

John Brown would begrudgingly open a school because he felt the uncontrollable need to, only to really enjoy teaching itself. His lessons, in this case for Ice Hockey inexplicably, would be focused on harsh lessons learned through vigorous training. You gotta want it, y'know? So this means constant sprints on the ice, many laps to build endurance, puck training drills to enforce good handling, but then also off ice physical activities. Things like chopping down trees, sawing wood, splitting logs, building houses, and other good healthy outdoor activities needed to sustain a full lifestyle. From there it would also include things like optional history and civics lessons that people could attend at their desire. The classes would range on a wide variety of American history courses as well as informing people of their rights and where they came from. All because John Brown decided to open a school for some unknown reason. That's just how it be.
