RE: S78 PT #4: Sponsored Up and Geared Up - Toast - 09-08-2024

Prompt #2

Toasty would love nothing more than to remove most of the protectors that he feels slow him down. Sure, a good set of skates and a proper stick are needed to be at max efficiency but Toasty would pass on the bucket and elbow guards and anything else that he could remove. Sure, the chance for injury is always there if you're removing all the protective gear but Toasty doesn't care about that. He's willing to lay his body on the line to stop a shot even if it's going to leave a bruise but the plus side he will be able to skate faster and get into his position for his teammates to be able to get the puck to him. Unfortunately for Toasty though there are regulations to make sure that the SHL doesn't have all of their players injured and derailing the season so instead Toasty spends his time imaging how fast he would be without all these damn protections.

Anna is no stranger to being a spokeswoman, having done several gigs in Quebec City and now a couple in Maine. Anna runs a youth hockey program in Quebec City where she uses any sponsorship money she gets from other deals to buy the ice time and extra equipment for those who have trouble affording it. Most of her sponsorship deals come from local restaurants, she loves to try out new foods and is always willing to talk up a new restaurant in exchange for a few bucks. Anna also has a sponsorship with Bauer, who provide with most of her hockey gear, which she gets in exchange for some promotional video shoots showing off the latest and greatest Bauer equipment. She has a couple of sponsors lined up when she gets to Calgary next season, namely a big advertisement campaign for the annual Stampede. She's never worn a cowboy hat before so that will be an interesting experience.

Dominik certainly isn't going to go out of his way to try for sponsorships, but that doesn't mean that he wouldn't be excited about the opportunity should one arise. He likes specific gear and things from brands, and I don't think he is the kind of player that is going to change his whole brand of gear simply for money. I know that nowadays there are so many ways to wrap gear to make it look like a different brand even when it isn't, but if Dominik is going to put his name out there as a guy who wears xyz gear brand or xyz style clothing off the ice, he would want to truly mean that. If someone is going to spend their hard earned money because Dominik said he likes the brand or that he wears it regularly, it better be good gear and better be something the he truly believes in at the end of the day.

Aksel doesn't have any preference for gear brands, and doesn't really get any sponsors because of that. He's got a mishmash of Bauer, CCM, Sher-Wood and Warrior. A few seasons ago, he had a glove each from different brands and they got angry and wrote him letters to only wear their glove if he was going to have a matching pair. He taped over the names with some of his black stick tape and kept wearing them until the material wore down. He's not loyal to underclothes either, and has several different compression pants and shirts. Sometimes when the other guys, who are extremely loyal to brands, get free stuff they don't want, they'll give it to Aksel as tribute and that rocks. He loves free stuff. He'll also take old stuff. There's a fair bit of gear shuffling amongst the team, and any nice stuff no one wants will go to the affiliate youth leagues which is cool.

Hugh Manius generally does not run after potential sponsors or is he chasing promotional activist. Generally speaking, Hugh hates that sort of thing. Although every once in a while, something will catch his attention and he will pursue it. Hugh did do a nice Rolex ad for a nice watch and a couple grand. Additionally, he was also the special guest at the grand opening of the both the Penthouse Club and Fine Line Gentlemen's Club, but how could he not accept their invitation. But other than those handful of adventures Hugh Manius does not engage in sponsorships and promos as he is a hockey player so he prefers to play hockey and skips all the zaney crap that many players get involved with. He just is to tried to deal with that type of thing but he understands how why some player do that sort of thing but it is just not for him.

Emil Karlsson understands that in life, your network is your net worth and so he is always rubbing shoulders with potential sponsors to look to not only enhance his brand and grow his profile, but also to cash in on them while he is at the peak of his powers. His representatives have made contact with a great number of brands, ranging from clothing and fashion companies to those selling household cleaning products - there really isn’t many things that are truly off the table for him. Emil is a big admirer of figures like Shaquille O’Neal, who weee able to secure a great deal of lucrative sponsorship and endorsement arrangements in areas that you might not necessarily associate with a sports star, and leverage those into impressive financial reward. Emil is only a young player in the league but he is determined to maximise his earnings during his time here, and is set to continue to try to earn as much cash as he can both on the ice and off it through picking hp some great brand deals over the coming seasons.

P1: Tony Soprano would 100% do a *gabagool* sponsorship without thinking twice. Imagine it: Tony, in full hockey gear, holding a platter of freshly sliced *gabagool* in one hand, hockey stick in the other, with the tagline: “You can’t score without *gabagool*.” Forget protein shakes and energy bars—Tony knows that real power on the ice comes from a thick slice of cured meat. Whether it’s a local deli or some fancy *gabagool* subscription box, Tony would slap his name on it faster than you can say, “Pass the mortadella.” Honestly, it’s a match made in meat heaven. Picture the commercial—Tony casually snacking on some *gabagool* between shifts, winking at the camera: “You think I score goals on hockey pucks alone? Nah, it’s the *salumi* life, baby!” He’s tough, he’s got swagger, and he knows the real secret to hockey greatness: a solid pre-game snack of delicious Italian cold cuts.

My player would absolutely love to be in as many sponsorship as possible, especially if its going to make some big money. Even if not the more famous they get the more people will be looking to hire them. I think that rap features would be the top priority, but sports equipment, sports clothing, air fresheners, swimming gear, car parts, chef equipment, electronic accessories, nfts, gambling, pharmaceuticals, food products, pet food among others are all definite possibilities that her manager is looking out for. Brands that are obviously bad people are avoided, but theres plenty more other companies ready to take their place. The next big thing that Hockey Player is hoping to achieve is to get a mcdonalds meal named after them. It would have a sauce combo of dominos garlic sauce, kfc sauce and ketchup, 5 large fries, a big mac with bacon and one coke. Hockey Player has learned that ingesting a massive amount of salt on a daily basis is the key to success and hopes to spread that knowledge to the greater sports community through delicious mcdonalds hockey player meal fries.

Slowpoke doesn’t appear to be a player that would seek out sponsorship opportunities. That’s not to say he’s opposed to being involved with companies outside of the hockey space but he’s also not actively campaigning and searching for the next deal to sign his name to. He’s a big fan of deals that have a connection to him or the local community. That, or any deal that he finds funny for the most part. One of his first deals was with a rubber ducky company that made a number of variations of Slowpoke to include seasonal attire, hockey gear, and a number of other professions. They also had a chase gold slowpoke included that only a few buyers were able to get their hands on. Besides a rubber ducky just being funny, the company promised to put a donation towards whatever cause Slowpoke wanted which happened to be a local animal shelter in Buffalo.

Sunrise usually requests that his equipment has some motif related to his homeland and, above all else, his home village. He does love his little home village and naturally enjoys giving the place he was born at some sort of shout-out whenever he can so it only makes sense for him to have something like a little flag on the tip of his stick and a picture of Schubbekutteveen on his skates.

Back home, his family and friends made all sorts of requests about things he should include on his gear but he rejected them out of a lack of interest or just of how silly the suggestions sounded: ranging from things like waifus, several sorts of birds, mud, the Van Halen logo, that weird S you would find in school tables all the time and at least five different Sonic fanmade own characters. He had to remind them repeatedly that his gear was not a billboard, after all.

Gnabe is looking for some bmkey sponsorships this season go capitalize kn his fame and his ability to get the fans going. Mostly he is looking tkvbe sponsored by beer brands as tjos efit both his daily caloric intake as well as what his fans know him for both on and off the ice. Thos has worked out great for gnabe as several local brands and kne national brand was able to get him on the phone and offer up a possible deal. As the fan favorite he is, he did require that these companies give some free brews to fans using a social media campaign, that ended in about 50 locals getting plastered with gnabe and of course a few bar fights occurring because kf this. The national brand did want to try to do a few of these promotions in other cites, but those cities don't like tk drink like the Philly trash so gnabe was not interesting in going out there to do that.

Peyton isn’t very picky about who to take endorsements from, it’s all about the money to him and whoever is willing to pay out top dollar is the company that he will work with, usually these sponsorships do have something to do with the game of hockey as that does make the most sense, companies like Adidas are a bit of a catch all as they do multiple things and hockey. Other sponsorships can involve athletics but not directly hockey like Gatorade or any other type of supplement or drink. Usually these are the types of sponsorships that any athlete would take to promote themselves and make money, although because Peyton is a Hollywood actor, he is also extremely marketable as a player and as a person so the door is open to many different commercials or movie roles that can be endorsed for his team which promotes the league as a whole.

Option 1: Darnell only buys products after extensive research (AKA googling like 3 different keywords) and comparing them pretty heavily to their competitors. Being able to find a physical product in the meatspace before ordering online is huge, too. I don't think that he would be keen to put his name or likeness on a product he didn't believe in, but because he's pretty much only buying established brands that would pretty severely limit his potential sponsorships. Maybe a brand of shoes he likes or workout gear, but that would be a pretty low-key endorsement in the grand scheme of things (after all, how often do you really see commercials for sneakers, and better yet, how often do you recognize a given athlete in those commercials?) but maybe the smaller paycheck would be compensated by discounts and/or freebies that would sweeten the pot a little bit. All in all, I think Darnell would rather let the brands come to him rather than seeking them out.
