RE: S77 PT #2: Bigger, Better, Faster, Stronger - jjlangabeer - 06-23-2024 When it comes to playing some of the best around the league you have to find ways to keep pace and shut them down. It is not always an easy task and it can be tricky to find out just how to slow them down then let alone stop them. The most important part to play with the best is the speed to keep up with them, if you get your doors blown off you never will even have the chance to force them wide and make an impact on the play. Once you can keep pace with some of the fastest in the league you can find away to play against anyone. The most important step is learning the timing, the timing to keep pace and drive that player wide and finish them with the perfectly placed poke check, or maybe even a perfect crushing hit that those opposing players will remember. You go out there and leaver your mark on the ice, and the other teams best players will soon learn. RE: S77 PT #2: Bigger, Better, Faster, Stronger - Revontulete - 06-23-2024 Well, there's a few ways to outplay an opponent that has an edge over you. Have you heard of Dark Souls? It's the same process. I do what the Highlanders's logo is. I pull out a greatsword disguised as a hockey stick and begin swinging. I don't remember there being a rule AGAINST swords on the ice. Think about it, though. I'm the shortest player in the Junior leagues, but still have a solid goal rate. How else would I gain the edge over these brick walls of players? This playstyle is where the ice truly gives me an edge. I start rolling constantly, letting my momentum dodge opponents because I gain this weird invulnerability halfway into the roll. Like honestly, imagine. You try to start a fight, but your arm phases through them? It scars a person. Both a mental and physical advantage, I simply use the skills of Dark Souls against my opponents. RE: S77 PT #2: Bigger, Better, Faster, Stronger - Nokazoa - 06-23-2024 Written #1: Thomas Sawschuck has been approached to become the new "Commodore Hockey." To achieve this feat he must do a few simple tasks. First he must eat the strands of hair of SHL legends, just three of four Hall Of Famers to be precise. After that, he must then undertake a series of operations that will give him biotic powers, a la ~~six million~~ BILLION dollar man. After that he just need to take a lot of steroids. If they survive, which we have been assured they will with a low 25% mortality rate, then Commodore Hockey will be born. He will be faster, stronger, smarter than all the others. He will be a real grit grinder and dangler. Think Inspector Gadget but they had the handles of Mario Lemieux. Extending arms and legs. An umbrella that comes out of their head. The possibilities are endless. All said this would be a boost of about 3k TPE and thus 5k TPE would be their peak. that way they can fight regression forever. RE: S77 PT #2: Bigger, Better, Faster, Stronger - mer - 06-23-2024 In his old age, Aksel no longer has raw speed and strength to rely on. It's a sad truth that he's slower than the rookies, so he compensates with skill and preparation. He shows up to the rink an hour before required for games and practices, and takes his time stretching. A tear or fracture would set him back months at this point, so it's more important than ever that he makes sure that's not an option. He'll kind of trick his way into practicing with the rookies, he'll ask them if they want to go over skills together, and test himself against them in a way that doesn't feel too competitive and definitely strays from hazing. He just wants to make sure that he can keep up, and when needed, perform higher so that he can still be a leader on the ice during games. He's very careful not to stretch himself too far, but does hold himself to a high standard. RE: S77 PT #2: Bigger, Better, Faster, Stronger - MrPresident - 06-23-2024 Option 1 Kristian Seppanen, the star young right defenceman of the Atlanta Inferno hockey team of the Simulation Hockey League, otherwise known as the SHL, which is an online simulation hockey league where users pretend to be players while vying for fame, success, and most of all, the largest trading card collection possible, would be put in the Captain America Super Power Program to be given the ability to see into the future, for the sole purpose of being able to get into the position to block the most shots possible. He would be granted the ability to see 30 seconds in the future to see what position he must get into in order to block every shot. It would eliminate Atlanta Inferno, the hockey team’s need for goalies Tanner Pitts and Jim Wen, freeing up cap space to have deeper offensive prowess and playing 6 skaters all game. This would be beneficial for many reasons, but most importantly for Kristian Seppanen’s dream of having the most shots blocked ever. RE: S77 PT #2: Bigger, Better, Faster, Stronger - Rankle - 06-23-2024 Prompt 2 There are many situations in which Pork Tenderloin is outmatched by their opponents on the ice. He is not the most agile or nimble player to ever lace them up. It can be quite easy to outmaneuver him with some quick stickhandling and a deke or two. The real strength that Pork Tenderloin uses to overpower his opponents is his raw strength and positional abilities. He puts himself in the best position possible to give as few opportunities for failure as possible. If you're in a good position then there is not much an enemy skater can do to get around you as long as you have the skills with the stick and the strength to bump them off the puck. Since Pork Tenderloin is so strong it isn't hard for him to just nudge or bump into another skater when he needs to in order to gain control and give his team an advantage. RE: S77 PT #2: Bigger, Better, Faster, Stronger - Chris - 06-23-2024 Option 2: offensively nobody can outdo Marian but if he has a defensive/ more physical player battling for the puck he tends to play a little more physical. He tries to study film on some teams to see if they are a more lax defense or a more aggressive defense and each of the players,so if a team plays a more physical game he plays more physical, if a team plays a more lax defense he finds ways to get open and exploit that defense. So you can't really do anything to stop him unless u keep a great eye on him. lately he has broken out his shell and started scoring more goals (especially on the power play) he has found his game after a slow start and these defenses have trouble stopping him, but he can also pass the puck under pressure if a player is being a little too aggressive, so he is a complete offensive player. RE: S77 PT #2: Bigger, Better, Faster, Stronger - golden_apricot - 06-23-2024 Ket us be clear before we start here. There us no player jn the league who outclasses gnabe. Maybe once jn awhile he will have a bad game and things will get out of hand but outside of that nktji g stops gnabe. Now in those rare cases, gnabe has been known to go out and drop the hammer kn several players, including several fights in order to get things back on track and thay usually works well for him. If none of thay works the I KY course of action is to take the guy down several times in hand to hand combat. This usually works as no one in the league is a fan of fighting and thag is something thay gnabe specializes in. Agyer a few fights things tend to even lut and gnabe starts to take over yet again. There are not many strategies like this in the league so it works more often than not. RE: S77 PT #2: Bigger, Better, Faster, Stronger - Muerto - 06-23-2024 Written Option 2 AT-AT Wollker is by no means the most skilled player on the ice. As a defenseman, several times every game he has speedy high-skilled forwards attacking his zone trying to score a goal. But he has a secret weapon which helps him in defending his territory - very high aggression and a big tough body. He is not at all afraid to play dirty if that's what it takes to stop them. Whether it's an elbow to the head against the glass, or chopping a big two-handed slash on the ankles, to just outright dropping the gloves and getting into fights! He wants the opposing team to be afraid, to know that if they try to pull a slick dangle, or try to get into battles in the corner, they are definitely going to feel it the next morning and be full of pain and regret. he is just the type of old-school player that coaches and fans love, but other players hate to play against! RE: S77 PT #2: Bigger, Better, Faster, Stronger - GraylessRex - 06-23-2024 Despite his normally very docile demeanor Argenti when playing against particularly skilled opponents tends to start trying to counter the current strategy. For example if an opponent is doing very intricate puck work then Argenti will try to go for the puck as soon as possible before they can try and mind game him. As for particularly strong opponents he has two strategies. His go too is to get lower than his opponent and using his bulk and weight take back the initiative from his superior opponent. If that fails however he will swap to a more desperate strategy where his goal is just to get the puck to the opposite side of the rink injuries be damned for now normally this is not an issue as his teammates are just one steal away from securing the puck but if for whatever reason that can’t happen that Argenti is willing to risk injury for his team. RE: S77 PT #2: Bigger, Better, Faster, Stronger - Kalakar - 06-23-2024 Demir Bellona was bored one evening and he was browsing Craigslist for some reason, maybe to laugh at the absurd ads or to find the Holy Grail, who knows. He was procrastinating, he should really have been at the gym at this time. One suspicious ad caught his eye, it was an odd looking fellow looking for volunteers to try out his homemade serum to give people unique powers. Demir scoffed at the idea, but in the back of his mind, he could already see himself standing on a hill looking like a hero and he decided he'd check out that medicine. What could go wrong? AFter meeting the guy, understanding the side effects, the sting in his arm, the one hour waiting period to make sure he was okay, I guess nothing could go wrong. Nothing had happened to Demir. At least that's what he thought, until he stepped foot on the ice two days later for a game and during warm up, one of the puck he was handling turned bone white. He could barely see it on the ice. That was weird. Well he ended up scoring 6 goals that night because the opposing goalie kept thinking the puck was on the other side of the rink and Demir was just skating back and forth the entire rink for no reason. RE: S77 PT #2: Bigger, Better, Faster, Stronger - trashae - 06-23-2024 Some people might wonder why the league would select an ice skating hippo for their special super SHLer program. Those people are close minded and should reflect on whether human testing for such an experimental procedure would be better. Plus, the serum requires total submersion for a full 5 minutes. That’s something the average person absolutely cannot do, but for a hippo it’s easy peasy. Based on preliminary models of the potential effects of this super serum it’s is believed that my TPE levels will shoot up to OVER 9000 with physical attributes specifically breaking the scale. A strength rating of potentially 29 has been hypothesized. That would easily be enough to simply explode an opponent into a blood cloud for even a minor hit. Of course there is the possibility that I die a gruesome and horrible death from the transformation, but it is all absolutely worth it for the opportunity to literally vaporize opposing defenders. RE: S77 PT #2: Bigger, Better, Faster, Stronger - Arkz - 06-23-2024 The tempting answer for some sort of super abilities to give a goal would be something like super speed. But at that point you're really just making the goalie into a bit of a brick wall, which is no fun at all. There's a few entertaining items that I think you could add to a goaltender that would make it more interesting for fans. One option would be super strength, so that a goalie could not be knocked off their spot. A lot of aggressive players would certainly think twice about running into the goaltender if they knew they could bench press a truck. But that's not very exciting for the fans at home, so we'll nix that. Another option would be to give the goaltenders laser eyes. No longer will they be stuck in the net, unable to impact the game beyond the crease. It would certainly give breakaway players something to think about as they charge down the ice. Perhaps the most intriguing option though is invisibility. The goalies can't be seen, so the opposing team isn't completely sure where they should be placing their shots, or when they are about to be decked in open ice. RE: S77 PT #2: Bigger, Better, Faster, Stronger - brickwall35 - 06-23-2024 Playing higher skilled players isn't a foreign concept to Journey Man, as he has in fact traveled the world to take on the best of the best. In order to push oneself to the next and highest level of their game, they have to play against those that can really challenge them and force them to improve their game. Journey digs deep in those match-ups and tries to get the mental advantage. He doesn't do any gamesmanship or mind games, but instead focuses on keeping himself calm and in the moment, and waits to pounce on the opponent in their moments of doubt or indecision. Even amongst the best professional athletes, you can often find the mental side of their game lacking, as many are used to being the best, and being confronted with the realization that they aren't is hard to adjust to. It's this mental advantage that Journey Man uses to help get over the hump that can exist in physical or skill gaps.
