Prompt 1:

Thanks to Darnell Johnson II's father playing in NOLA when he was born, he was able to essentially grow up with the Specter's organization. He has great ties to the local community, including the youth teams and the local rinks. Darnell spends a lot of his time in the off season connecting with those people in the community, the people he grew up with, pros or otherwise, and skating with youth hockey clubs and minors organizations as a way to sort of 'give back' to the people that helped him follow in his father's footsteps.

Since transitioning from defense to forward play Darnell has had to sort of change his early off-season routine, dedicating more time early in the season to his new, forward specific duties like face-offs (and not just actually taking them, but practicing set plays with some of the other forward) and tip-ins in front of the net. He'll usually get together with some of the other NOLA guys for some casual practice, or see if some of the other skaters in the area can slap some pucks at the net for him.

An offseason for River is the perfect time to spend much more of her time with the important people in her life. She takes a break away from her skates and goes to visit her parents back home in Maine for a few weeks. They spend days just hiking through the woods and visiting local amusement parks like Canobie Lake. It's a wonderful time, and for a week her girlfriend Juniper Haddad is also there and chatting up the parents before she has to go back to work in Vancouver. When River does return to her new home, she's certainly not alone there. While she doesn't have a dog, she does have a ball python named Medusa whom she loves more than life itself. She also has the aforementioned nerd girlfriend whom she adores and who she lives with in Vancouver. When neither of them are working they like going to cute bookshops and taking dance lessons together, even though River is absolutely awful at it.

Written Option 2: Or maybe there are more important things in life.

Offseason is the prime time for your player to spend time with their family and other important people in their lives. Does your player have a spouse? Kids? Pets? How about parents and siblings? Other important people that are part of their daily lives? How is your players relations to them?

Introduce us to your player’s family (and/or close friends).

Campbell is definitely a family man. He has a wife and two young children. He has a daughter named Charlotte and a son named Landon. Landon of course his named after his father who is a legend in the SHL with Seattle the off-season is mostly spent with his family enjoying fun times in Denver away from Seattle where they have a nice house and a Bernie doodle named Maisie. Most of Campbell’s family lives out of state, but they spend a couple weeks with them in Texas during the off-season. All in all, the off-season is for resting and relaxing with some quiet time with his family. It’s not all fun and games though. Campbell knows he has to get ready for the season so he takes it very seriously trains hard and gets ready for each year trying to win the last game of the season. Family comes first though, and he makes sure to let them all know that while he is home.

Matiss has a wife and no kids but does have two cats and two dogs at home. Matiss and his wife have been together for 12 years and she supports him through everything on and off the ice. Matiss has a mom, dad, and one sister who have supported him from when he was little in youth hockey all the way through to the SHL. He also has a lot of support from his grandparents and uncle who he is very close with. Matiss and his entire family are really big into hockey and have always been around it since he was born. His dad played growing up and into college and is now a coach. His sister played for a few years when she was younger but gave it up to pursue other sports. His grandfather coached his dad and his dad coached him as he was growing up so hockey is pretty much in his blood. In the offseason hockey is being watched by himself and his family and training is done with his dad to keep up during the regular season.

Written Option 1:

After getting their first multi-million contract Toes started building their own private rink on 10 acres of family owned land in the middle of nowhere. They even paid to bring in city power. Toes trains everyday with a personal coach and get's to do his favourite job since he was a kid and Zamboni the ice fresh again. Normally they prefer to be alone to train but this time they invited the Detroit rookies to show them the ropes. The physical training was grueling, it's what got Twinkle noticed and scouted in the first place. They have high hopes for the rookies and really pushed each of the rookies, almost to the breaking point. Many of them likely thought of quitting but their dreams and drive carried them through. As a result the new rookies are ready to take the J by storm. And maybe even pose for the team charity calendar this year. All proceeds to the Detroit Children's Hospital of course. (163)

Written Option #2

Elliot doesn't have a lot of close individuals in his life unfortunately. His dad died when he was young and his mother is living in a mental-health institution. The only person that is close to Elliot would be his sister Darlene, who makes sure to check up on him regularly. Without Darlene, Elliot would be lost, having no point of reference to navigate life and to keep him in check. Thankfully, he also has a close friend in Angela, who works with him at the same cyber security company. Angela has been there since their childhood days, supporting Elliot and spending time with him. A potential romance could be in the cards too in the future as well, since both of them fancy each other. In the off-season, Elliot makes sure to spend time with Darlene and Angela, while also spending time by himself to focus on his upcoming hacking projects and devising the next great hack that will change the world forever.

Written option 1:

During this off season, Jordan Lafrenière came back to his hometown Montréal with one idea: work hard on his physique and his playmaking and defensive skills. Him and his trainer really focused on that as Lafrenière really wants to have way more responsabilities especially, on a penalty kill unit really, have a big step up in term of point production, after his great 53 points rookie season. Jordan also took advantage of his time in Montréal to meet one of his best friends in the league and Toronto North Stars prospect, @Ferwx and trained with him in order to learn defensive tips and perfectionnate his game in an intense, yet friendly, pratice  with one of the best defensive defensemen in the SMJHL ! To conclude his post-season, Jordan went to the gym he used to go, back in the days with his dad which made him feel nostalgic a bit. He worked very very hard on his explosivity and as well, in getting back in game shape to be great in Kelowna in the following season!

Outen Deboonies has a unique style of training that cannot be emulated by his peers, not because it is too ahrd but because they are simply not he. Outen spends his offseason between his home in wherever the hell he is squatting, and the mountains of the Pacific North West, though not anywhere worth denoting, or ratting out to the feds. Here he focuses on his light reading and the pursuit of alchemy, training his body to process elk meat into the fury of a thousand suns, doing more than shear calories could ever hope. Otherwise he focuses on light lifts and working his calves by rowing. Not with his arms or shoulders, reverse style sitting in the kayak like a skeleton luge but instead its a meaty man stuffed upside down into a water vessel hoping it doesn’t capsize. Sure there may be easier ways but thats not in the spirit of Outen of his training style.

RE: S81 PT #0: It’s All About The Hockey - Jorec - 02-17-2025

Option 1:

Off season training can be tricky and what works best for one person might not work best for another. For Andren, he follows the same standard way of training every season. The first month is spent in solitude (after any celebrations, like a Cup win) in which he doesn't train at all. The idea being to let both his mind and body get a rest. Play some games, travel to some country that has never heard of hockey and come back. The second month is spent training alone. Going to the boxing gym, skating drills and going to the rink to make sure he's ready to go physically. The last month (or more) is spent seeking out any teammate he can to get back in the winning mindset. For this season, he's spending as much time as possible with his line mate of many seasons, Oliver Castillon. They both broke out last season and if they're gonna take that next step and get some recognition, they'll need to build up as much chemistry as possible.

Written Option 1:

Honestly I don't go all out training in the offseason, the offseason is for resting my body and getting ready for the next season. When I was younger, I would go out and try to prove myself to people but since I play in the IIHF tournament every offseason I have even less time to get my body recovered. To recovery from all the minor injuries I pick up during the season I like to go to spas and places I can get massages, it really relaxes the muscles. I also like to go to places that have hot tubs and saunas. But it's not all just relaxing I'm still skating and working on speed and agility drills, I still watch film from the season and really focusing on power play and penalty kill situations. I have never shown up to training camp overweight or out of shape, I still take pride in my body and abilities and even when I take a few months rest I still take care of them.

RE: S81 PT #0: It’s All About The Hockey - Ultimatedestroye - 02-17-2025

What Cade de Vries does for his off seasons is almost like a ritual for him. First, he’ll go back to Amsterdam to train with his original u18 team. They’ll normally play in the local rink in which they trained the most, and sometimes in the National Ice rink in Amsterdam. Then he’ll train with the Dutch all-stars in Amsterdam, in the same National Ice Rink (Just outside the main downtown). Then, he’ll go and train with the main squad for the Quebec National team, and they normally just use the old Nordiques home for the practice with the team, and then he’ll normally go and train with the North Stars in Toronto (Or any special place the team wants to go to, I mean one time they trained in Honolulu and tried to use it as a excuse for a business expensed vacation (it worked)).

RE: S81 PT #0: It’s All About The Hockey - Scrufdaddy - 02-17-2025

Written Option 1:

Slip McScruff had a very very long offseason this last go around. He got so caught up in his intense training that they held the season without him. He was so focused and in the zone that the league straight up thought he died. He was watching the league awards like he does every year because he's hoping some day he'll be recognized for his hard work. Well, he did show up this time, but it was the In Memoriam section. After doing some paperwork, he managed to become living again in the eyes of the league and showed up to train with his old crew in Baltimore.

They really put him through the wringer (at least he thought so, but it was warmups). That's when he finally realized he's not a spring chicken anymore and it felt like he was worse than his time back in the Junior league. Maybe this time around when he works himself into oblivion, he won't turn back up for another bootcamp.
