RE: S64 SMJHL PT#2 - Tactical Meeting - nour - 03-22-2022 So this is a tough one to elaborate on because B Jobin is a goalie and because of this he actually doesn't play on a line or a pairing because per the rules of ice hockey he's actually the only player of his position allowed to be on the ice at any given time which is tough for him when it comes to needing a friend on the ice, but even tougher when it comes to discussing this point task because the whole thing is about lines and tactics haha! Now the added benefit is that regardless of his team's tactics he will always fit into them because his main objective out there never changes baby, he's there to stop the pucks from going in and apologize profusely if (when) they do! Whether its 5 on 5, special teams, defensively-minded battleplans, or offensively-minded ones, B Jobin's goal is to, and say it with me now, stop those pucks! RE: S64 SMJHL PT#2 - Tactical Meeting - hhh81 - 03-22-2022 M’Baku makes it very clear how he wants to play. The coaches told him he would get a shot on the 2nd line with veteran defensive center Gordie Goodenough and sophomore winger Dan King. The previous season, Goodenough was one of the best shutdown forwards in the J, while King had a solid all around year. This suits M’Baku fine—his natural skills are well suited to playing a heavy, defensive style. Coming off a season where he scored 17 points and 17 assists, Dan King is hoping for a breakout. Knowing this, M’Baku recommends the coaches allow him to play a highly physical forechecking game to create space for King to show off more of his offensive creativity. It’s hard for defenders to pin down their man when they are worried about getting their clocks cleaned by Olubori. M’Baku wants the line to skate hard and pressure opposing skaters to force turnovers and mismatches. The line should be a mix of energy, physicality, stout defense, and opportunistic offense. Baku knows his offensive game is well behind his peers so far, so he wants to create opportunities to force situations while he learns and grows into the offensive skillset he knows he can. He also asks the coaches for opportunities in special teams; his legs are strong and his conditioning is good, so he thinks he can handle more minutes. The coaches listen, but make sure he understands their penalty killers need to play responsibly, so taking too many penalties will cost Baku opportunities. He needs to learn to play with an edge within the rules of the game. RE: S64 SMJHL PT#2 - Tactical Meeting - aleks - 03-22-2022 it is morally reprehensible and ethically unjustifiable as to why Aleksandr Iskandrov is currently situated on the fourth line of the Kelowna Knights team in the Simulation Major Junior Hockey League. Quite frankly it is disgusting and childish behaviour, but sometimes its just how the pancake crumbles. Because we are on the fourth line I cant say that we do much scoring but what I can assure you is that we will physically destroy any player that decides to stand between me and the tendy on the opposing team. I should clarify that the players standing in between me and the opposing tendy that I referred to in the previous sentence specifically calls out opposing players as I do not want to injure my own team. that would not be good. but yes, Aleksandr Iskandrov will singlehandedly destroy any player on the ice with his absolute hulking biceps and triceps. Aleksandr plays on a line with some players named Kunai (like the ninja knife haha) and gunther debrusk (normal name). I could not tell you how these players play as i am only in control of what i do and its a big way on how i view life, i believe its called Stoicism. I used to stay up at night worrying about what other people think about me and how they see me and what not but the fact of the matter is that there are some things you cannot control. Much the same is how i cannot control what my linemates do. I do not think this is working very well though as 6 game sin i have 0 points and a plus minus of -4. but at least i have 11 hits so i was right when i said id demolish people 300 words RE: S64 SMJHL PT#2 - Tactical Meeting - Hallsy - 03-23-2022 I am a shut-down stay-at-home defenseman, that should not have the puck on his stick. I want to be the guy that plays heavy defensive zone starts and that can break the cycle up and win puck battles in the corner. I want to be the guy who is going to limit the other team's stars from producing any offense with my size, checking, and being aware defensively. I take pride in my defensive game, I play defense, and the most important thing for my player should be protecting the net and being an old-school defender. I want to be the steady defender that doesn't lose my team the game every night and make good decisions on my own end so I can be happy not getting scored against. I dont really care about getting points or racking up the scoresheet just want to be a steady dependable player for my teams. I think that's my role in st.louis RE: S64 SMJHL PT#2 - Tactical Meeting - Finch - 03-23-2022 Going to be playing a bottom 6 shut down grinding role, with ambition to become to a selke level winger, physical shut down boi. Outlaws will be starting me out on RW4 where we will be playing hard and attempting to shut down the other team. As I progress over the next few weeks it should help the line get more important minutes and improve the team overall. For the most part the Anaheim Outlaws have a heavy line up throughout and my playstyle should be able to compliment any of the lines as needed. Currently we should be seeing roughly 10 minutes of ice time a game which is adequate on the 4th. Hoping to carve out a path as the Outlaws go to PKer in time. Honestly just really happy to be seeing the ice and getting acquainted with the team. Unlike players like @dmuda11 who think everything should be gifted to them, I'm eager to earn it. 691 characters / 161 words RE: S64 SMJHL PT#2 - Tactical Meeting - _Blitz_ - 03-23-2022 Behold, Shiny Shuckle in his new role with the Colorado Raptors. RE: S64 SMJHL PT#2 - Tactical Meeting - Big Newff - 03-23-2022 Upon arrival the coach has given me some information I will be leading the powerplay unit, as well as a second line for 5 on 5, my vision and puck skills make me a perfect guy to lead the power play and in scrimmages, it really shows, with awesome linkup from the newer players while the vets continue to teach us the main ideas and give us some awesome advice. our 5 on 5 games is a little less strong but we can still compete with some of the best teams, our cycle game we bring, and the ability to maintain the puck. As Patches will partner fellow rookie Lord Farquaads, on the line it will be absolute run and gun for them on the blue line, but also the balance and chemistry between them already are unreal they know where they are on the ice at all times and feed off each other. This season and the many they have together will be key for the Anaheim Outlaws. Together they have made a pretty good defensive unit as they complement each other well. They can create many opportunities and shut down opposing offences with their stellar defense. The strategy for Tom is mainly to focus a bit more on the offensive side as he is a great contributor to offence as he can help create opportunities to score and give his teammates better chances to set them up. But while Tom reviews more footage from his games, he is still working on finding the perfect balance and strategies to help accelerate his offensive skill to where he wants it. And as for my defensive partner Rolf, his strategies are to focus more on the defensive side and clear the puck. RE: S64 SMJHL PT#2 - Tactical Meeting - Allegiant - 03-24-2022 Tommy Thomas in the SMJHL While Tommy Thomas has yet to be placed on a line, his skillset is rather clear: as a grinding center, he's much more suited to one of the 'hard work' lines: either as a third liner, playing a more physical, two-way game, or even on the fourth line to check opposition defenders. While Thomas has some offense to his name, it's far from his meal ticket: accordingly, it would be unlikely for him to see much play on the powerplay in his first season, and perhaps even beyond that. However, his particular focus will render him particularly valuable on the penalty kill. He has made no secret that he intends to be known as a penalty kill specialist, even more-so than as a grinder. His skill in face-offs will be of particular importance here, to stave away dangerous, off-the-puck-drop scoring chances. Thomas does consider himself to be an adequate skater, fast for someone his size and similarly nimble -- but given his skillset rewards physical, grinding play, it's similarly doubtful he'll find much time on 4-on-4 situations. However, pairing his face-off prowess with his all-around defensive ability should mean that he will be uniquely tailored to 5-on-3 penalty kills. His coach will just need to hope that he isn't the one getting thrown in the box. RE: S64 SMJHL PT#2 - Tactical Meeting - RomanceBrownJr - 03-24-2022 Strategy has been a hot topic over in the Timber locker room. They seem to be trying to find a balance of playing veteran players and also getting rookies included into the line ups. Rookies such as Mando Lorian, a center coming from the Mandalore league. Mando has had some growing pains in the SMJHL, not scoring a goal in the preseason, but being able to assist for a goal in The Timber 4-0 win against GFG. The Timber seem to have opted for quantity over quality of shots, usually seeming to dominate the shots on goal stat. They live and die by the shot and switching over to a more well rounded defensive lineup is something they’ve discussed in the past and we’ll need to see if they can execute that lineup. The talent is there for The Timber, they just need to find the right scheme that fits for them. RE: S64 SMJHL PT#2 - Tactical Meeting - JR95 - 03-25-2022 The great thing about Dubois is he really ahs a wide range of skillsets available to him which make him useful in a variety of situations. His primary focus is still offensive production, but he doesn't slack on the backcheck and can be used on a more shutdown line if needed. That said if I had to pick an ideal scenario, dubois has the puckhandling and physicals to get past a lot of defenders on the outside. I think a good strategy would be to use Dubois as an outlet on the breakout and give him the primary job of zone entries. with his tool set he will definitely more often than not be able to gain the zone and then hopefully from there be able to find a teammate to get setup offensively. once in the zone, Dubois shines up tight. not quite as a screener, but on the flank, where his puck handling can allow him to cut to the middle and force the goalie to move laterally, opening up some net. RE: S64 SMJHL PT#2 - Tactical Meeting - boom - 03-25-2022 With the regular season starting, Sophie Bordeleau is on a line with Rylie Versi and Petra Sabor. Her strong ability to read plays in the offensive zone and find teammates with precision passes has helped the Quebec City Citadelles get off to a strong start, with Versi having 9 goals and 5 assists and Bordeleau having 4 goals and 10 assists. This line works with Versi's strong skills for getting open in prime shooting position to take shots, and with a great affinity for puckhandling he's able to make shifty moves and settle the puck on his stick for strong shots. Sophie, meanwhile, is responsible for covering the middle of the ice and running the offense like a point guard would run a basketball strategy. It's a lot of responsibility and a tough system to learn, but she's been able to adapt to it well and has strong vision of the whole offensive zone. This has enabled the Citadelles to ice a great offensive presence with this line and lead their division a sixth of the way through the season. RE: S64 SMJHL PT#2 - Tactical Meeting - FuzzSHL - 03-25-2022 Aleksi Kettu isn't known for much...yet, at least. But one thing he has always been comfortable with is annoying the hell out of opposing goaltenders. This was quite obvious to the Carolina scouts and coaching staff during their draft prep, and apparently was such a strength that it led to Kettu being taken 6th overall in the SMJHL Entry Draft. Instead of trying to change his game to fit the mold of the SMJHL landscape, Carolina instead opted to mold Kettu's unit to his strengths. Kettu will be doing what he's always done, and what he's always done well: sit in front of the net and screen opposing goalies as much as humanly possible. Defensively he's been asked to clean up his game just a little bit, but as long as he keeps up his faceoff work, Carolina shouldn't have too much to complain about as puck possession will always be a strength with the Finnish giant. RE: S64 SMJHL PT#2 - Tactical Meeting - TheMoonlark - 03-25-2022 The first few days were only enjoyable! We worked hard within practice, visualizing some of the plays we’d like to try during our upcoming games. We all settled into the locker room after an intense practice, everyone going on into little conversations they’d started on the ice with surrounding teammates. As we all collected ourselves and slowly stripped away sweaty gear, the GM’s walked in, greeting everyone with a happy smile. Their eyes land on me as they take steps forward, toward my locker section. They ask me simple questions on what I would like to produce with my line, and though I was new, I had an answer already. I spoke of how I’d like my line to open up lanes, and create good opportunities for taking shots on the goal. I wanted to create a line ideal for receiving shots and creating open lanes for our better shooters, ensuring success in the other teams zone while maintaining a stable presence on the ice. This would result in quick success for our better lines and open opportunities for the more experienced centers on the team. |
