The Lavoie siblings are the obvious choices for MVP. You can’t go wrong with the leading goal scorer Mia Lavoie with 49 goals, second in total points with 100. Scoring is the hardest thing about hockey and Mia has no issues with that. My vote for MVP would be Edouard Lavoie. One more point than Mia with 101. Edouard was Mia’s set up man the last few seasons and this season is no different. 66 assists for the 6’3 center is nothing to joke about. I like taking the center position because it’s a role that requires an excellent two-way game, and Edouard has shown that. A 57% face off percentage is great for a first line center who’s taken over 1200 face offs in a season. The best player on the best team should usually get the MVP award. Honourable mention to Detroit Falcons goalie Anastasia Soderstrom. Anastasia only played 42 games for the Falcons but won 24 of them, including 3 shut outs. She had the second best GAA with 2.72 (vs 2.58) and the highest save above expected with 35.84. This is nearly 10 points higher than the second place goalie. Finally Ana lead the league is save percentage as well with a 0.916!
While the goalies and defenseman are often over looked, this was an excellent 3rd season for the Falcons goaltender.

1 - I'd have to suggest the obvious choice for MVP candidate number 1, the Lavoies. Both Mia the sniper and Edouard the playmaker have merited a co-nomination because there is no one without the other. The synergy displayed between the two is unmistaken, with 49 goals by Mia and 66 assists by Edouard, and finishing a point apart with 101-100. Mia also ranked 3rd in total shots and the pair accumulated a +97 goal differential, showcasing their dominance. Edouard also ranked 7th in forwards in penalty minutes, maximizing his production in spite of this stat.
2 - My second candidate may shock you. A surprising sophomore season by the Ottawa Highlanders that was led by captain Demir Bellona gets him this nomination. Tops in goals by a defenseman with 21, second in points with 51, third in hits with 129 and shots with 203, he was the linchpin that Ottawa rallied around in their #5 seed-finishing season
3 - Goaltender Grant Berd gets the final nomination here. 31 wins in 46 games for the Regina Elk catapulted them into third in the league. A league leading 2.58 GAA and 6 shutouts with a .907 save percentage as a rookie can only mean his team and draft stock rise very favorably for him.

For my SMJHL MVP list I'd like to focus on three different kind of players who could win it.
1) Jason Warwaha F Newfoundland Berserkers.
The thing about Jason Warwaha is that he's really fantastic and has scored 46 goals this season while having not a ton of help in light of what we see at a club like Maine. When you think about Warwaha's individual impact on the ice it really goes to show you just how fantastic he is. The main problem is that Warwaha probably doesn't have the kind of presence as a player to really get the necessary votes to win.
2) Kristians Mikelis D Maine Timber.
Kristians is probably the best defender in the league and was 8 points shy of being a point per game player. To me in the modern game I feel like writers are too quick to forget just how imapctful and necessary a great defender is and what they offer so I think Mikelis would be a good pick.
3) Anastasia Soderstrom G Detroit Falcons.
Look Detroit wasn't the best team in the league but Anastasia is arguably the reason why they were so good with what they had. Posting a .916 SV% she's standing on her head putting Detroit in games.

I would say that a couple of the most obvious choices for MVP of the SMJHL this season are the Lavoie twins of the Maine Timber. However, as an Elk myself, I believe you could also make a strong choice for Bean Beanman Jr. First of all, Beanman Jr. has been driving one of the most effective lines in the SMJHL. In the first couple of rounds of the SMJHL playoffs, this line has proved especially effective. Beanman Jr. has strongly driven this line this season with his playmaking skills, with a strong 56 assists. While this is a big tally, he also contributed a lot on the scoresheet as well, with 38 goals! This gives a total of 94 points, by far leading the Elk, who won the Northern Conference this season. This tally of 94 points is not too far behind Edouard Lavoie of the Timber, who finished the season with 101 points. Overall, I think Beanman Jr. should definitely considered for MVP this season.

This year's MVP race is clearly a two horse race. That is obviously the Maine Timber Twins Mia Lavoie and Eduoard Lavoie. It is pretty incredible that not only did these two finish as first and second in total points they also finished within one point of each other. The points leader on the season went to Eduoard with 101 and Mia finished runner-up at 100 points. With it being so tight it really comes down to whether or not voters value goals more, where Mia shined with a league leading 49, or assists which is where Eduoard led with 66. Ultimately my vote would go to Mia Lavoie as putting the puck in the net is a harder thing to do than passing it to someone to do it for them. Not only did Mia score the puck but she also assisted on 51 goals for teammates that she helped create shots for. Couple that with a plus-47 rating on the ice and I think Mia squeezes this one out. However I would not be surprised if they were named Co-MVP at the end of the voting process, it is that close.

I think there’s a few players in contention for MVP this year - though I think we can narrow it down to 3 people that I think are likely contenders;
Wyatt King has been an incredible asset to the Quebec City Citadelles, with a whopping nine GWGs, and a massive spike in points compared to the rest of his team - meaning he’s not only contributing an incredible amount towards wins directly, he’s also contributing to the team’s success indirectly through passing and assists.
My second choice would probably be Bean Bagman Jr. of the Regina Elk - with a truly astonishing 94 points overall, he’s been of massive value to his team as a centre man for the Elks. He’s also got a phenomenal TA/GA percentile, and shines very brightly relative to his teammates - he contributes consistent and direct value, and I think he deserves recognition for that.
Lastly, I’d think of my own teammate, Jack Booth - one of the strongest walls of a dman in the league. While he isn’t the most aggressive, his capacity to just present an immovable wall of defence against some of the strongest offence lines in the J really shows just how much of an asset he is - he forms the anchor of the defence of the Scarecrows, and while the team has some great defensive prospects in the form of their newly-acquired rookies, Booth (and our goalie!) are really the ones carrying the defence of our team on their backs.
Anyways! That’ll do for now - I might be wrong about these, I certainly didn’t look into dmen as much as I could have, but I think all my picks are pretty solid, and I could see any of them taking the prize c:

By contrast, take, say, Warwaha off his line, and that line just collapses xD

There are 5 skaters who are in the running. 4 out of 5 are all on the same team, Main Timber. That alone shows how great each individual players are. They display the best tools to be the best and there is no doubt any of them will do some amazing number in their SHL career.
The 5 players up for The Ideen Fallah Trophy are none other than Edouard Lavoie who is leading the award race at 101 points. Eduardo is brother to Mia Lavoie who are in the same team. Mia Lavoie is 1 point shy of her brother with 100 points. I bet that rivalry is a sight to see on the ice. At number three is Bean Beanman Jr from the Regina Elk who sits at 93 points. Also with 94 points & number four in the race is Jean-Jacques Francois Jacques-Jean (what a name). Last but not least with 93 points is Matviy Cajabi at number 5 nommine.

For all intents and purposes, the term Most Valuable Player takes on a few definitions. The first one is the historic argument that the most valuable player is the best player on the best team in the league. By the standings, that would be the Maine Timber. Picking one of their players is difficult. Do you go with the SMJHL's points leader Edouard Lavoie or goals leader Mia Lavoie? Four out of the five top scorers are Timber players, which makes think the team could go on and win without one of them for a period of time. That's why I'm going with the odd man out. The Beanman. Junior. With 94 points, he is 12 points above the second highest scorer on the Elk. I've always thought that the most valuable player should be someone who the team will collapse without, and Beanman Jr. fits the mold.

The Lavoie twins stand pretty high up given their outstanding performance this season. They complemented each other pretty handily and with MT at its full potential, they were able to push the team to another level entirely. With that said, While Mia is more likely to earn the title given her obscene goal count, Edouard should also be looked into. In spite of having about 100 more minutes on the ice, his contributions are far more well-rounded, and speak volumes on how a player may not only excel given the right circumstances, but also push on to make those circumstances happen in the first place. All in all, solid TA/GA ratio and total, HUGE FO% won, huge assist participation.
Bean Beanman Jr.'s performance has also been commendable. Most of his ratios and total are quite on par with the top contenders barring FO%, but he's been steadily present in plays and has complemented their team's incredible defense for a pretty solid combination.
