For fan appreciation day this year, the Colorado Raptors have decided to give out fans a commemorative book of Evil Jordan Humphrey’s various evil chants he recites before each game. These demonic chants are meant to drum up the evil deep inside of his soul. Many of these ancient ritualistic chants are taken from the most evil aspects across culture and history. Evil Jordan Humphrey’s chants are incredibly powerful and not to be taken lightly, which is why it is totally irresponsible for the Colorado Raptors management to have made the decision to unleash this evil on the SMJHL world. One chant, for example, is able to possess a named individual with the soul of a demon. Another is able to bestow the curse of erectile dysfunction on the poor recipient. There are rumors that Evil Jordan Humphrey’s book of chants even includes the powers to summon Evil Jordan Humphrey’s spirit to commit atrocities on enemies. 156 words 3. Next season, the Colorado Raptors are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to win the cup, led by ideas from Evil Jordan Humphreys. Of course they will be doing the typical offseason regiment, but this time around they will also be doing significant amounts of steroids. Evil Jordan Humphreys has always been on steroids and he is getting the whole gang signed up this offseason. It’s miraculous he was as weak as he was this season given the cocktail of substances in his body at any given moment. The maniac also wants the Raptors to use specially designed elbow pads with Kevlar tips designed to wreak maximum havoc on high hits to the head. Another idea from the deranged Evil Jordan Humphreys is for the team to use next generation supersonic weaponry developed by the Russians to cause severe migraines for opponents. This is not wear Evil Jordan Humphreys demented ideas for the opposition ends. He also is in favor of threatening the opponents teams families with physical harm; it’s unclear if he is willing to follow through. Another sick and twisted idea of Evil Jordan Humphreys is to spike the opponents water bottles with fast acting laxatives. Finally, he is in favor of bribing the refs. 208 words 4. Wilhelm Seider is currently projected to be a mid to late first round draft pick in the S82 SHL Draft. It is one of the most promising drafts the league has seen in many seasons, with a high number of impact players at the top of the draft and plenty of depth to be found in the second half of the first through the third round. Wilhelm is a two-way playmaking center who had a strong showing with the Colorado Raptors in his rookie SMJHL season. While the team didn’t achieve its playoff goals, Wilhelm made a name for himself contributing with his complete 200 foot game. The German prospect is best known for his hockey sense and vision on the ice, smooth stick handling, and ability to rapidly make the best play in front of him. He is adept at getting the puck where it needs to be without hesitation. Wilhelm also showed the ability to finish opportunities, despite not being known as a pure goal scorer or sniper. What makes Seider an exciting prospect is his complete game; offense, defense, and transition. He pencils out to be a second line Center at the SHL level, with tremendous upside to be a 1C and power play contributer. 207 words 18. The Knights would be honored to have a fan appreciation day for our loyal supporters where we would give everyone a bobblehead of Hawkey. This was chosen to not only provide our fanbase with a commemorative figure of an individual that has been a key part of our organization for the last couple of seasons, but it is also a tribute to Hawkey himself. He has played an instrumental role in the development of this team, including leading the charge during our playoff run this season. He was truly instrumental in our series wins against the Berserkers and the Citadelles, scoring goals and be a threat on offense, and it is only fitting that we honor him in this way. With regards to the bobblehead, it would simply be of Hawkey taking a slapshot in his classic Knights uniform; not only would it be a cool figure for the kids but it would be a collectible that might be worth quite a bit down the line especially as Hawkey cements himself within the SHL. This would be given out during the opening game of the regular season next year as I believe it would be a good opportunity for us to remember how far we came during the previous season, a season in which we did not even plan to contend. Additionally, it will serve as a reminder that we plan to do even better this upcoming season and truly accomplish our goals of winning the cup with our developed squad of players. 253 words (+5 TPE) 2. Looking forward, the Knights are definitely already a stacked team. We have an elite set of forwards, in fact, almost all of our forwards are capped at 425 TPE aside from Krish Gainz who is currently capped at 350TPE, and our rookie RW that we will be selecting in the draft. I already know we are going to continue to be a threat on offense, having at least 40 shots on goal every single game, and maybe even averaging 6 goals for. Additionally, our offense is very well-structured; we have the perfect balance of playmakers, two-way players, and scorers making the Knights an overall balanced and efficient side. Our one area of weakness would have to be our defense. Currently, our entire defense aside from Erik Johnson is capped at 350 TPE. Although our players are still incredible strong, it does mean that our team will mostly be relying on the offense to take over and control games especially when it is close. The rest of our defensive players are capped at 350 TPE aside from our rookie that we will be picking up in the draft. With regards to our goalkeeper, we are again picking up a backup in the draft but I am incredible confident in Yuri Satoshi this season. He was incredible in the playoffs putting up a save percentage north of .900. He will definitely carry forward that momentum into the following season and I wouldn't be surprised if he has the best goalie record in the league. Aside from our defense, I think our team is incredible strong and will definitely be strong contenders to win the cup this season, especially since the Berserkers are going to be fairly weak and rebuilding next season and the Citadelles have also lost key players. Who knows, we might see a repeat of this year's finals between the Kraken and the Knights. I only hope that it goes our way this time. 324 words (+6 TPE) 18. Looking Towards the Future Man, this subject is really interesting because the San Diego Tidal may actually have quite a bit of needs due to expansion and how that will play out next season. Right now it isn't bad because we still have a full season, but there may be early call-ups and such, so really it depends on how things work out. Currently we have 4 Centers, 2 Goalies, 4 Defenseman including Gappy Hilmore my player, and 3 Wing's. Obviously we would need to invest in some more wings and probably defenseman to get our depth back. Our strongest position would most likely be our Center position as we have 4 capped players at that position currently. But between our S80's, we will be losing 3 to age out and then for S81, we currently have 7 in that class that may be called up due to the expansion. I know the Tidal will use this time to be able to solidify and opening holes in the future as well as create a cool and warming environment in the LR. With the move to FHM10, it'll be interesting to see how we will use our players to the best potential possible. It really opens up a whole new set of challenges but also opportunities to be able to get this team to be able to play at the best of their ability. We will definitely be looking at prospects who are listed at the needs we listed but also look at those who may be flexible at what they are willing to play at. (261 words | +5 TPE) 14. R&R After the 2nd round loss to St. Louis being up 3-2 in the series at one point, Gappy took some time to reflect on what he could have done better as a player for the team. It's easy to look and blame teammates, but Gappy makes sure not to do that but rather build his teammates up. So he's very critical of his own play and what he needs to do in order to get everyone on the rink on the same mindset. While he hasn't done anything crazy to reflect on his play, he took some time to watch game tape, especially Game 7 where he only posted an abysmal 50 offensive rating game and a +/- of -1. He acknowledged that he had a great game defensively, but that he could have done more with his offense to round out better as a player for the Tidal. After he took a couple weeks to gather himself, he went back to his hometown where he spent time with his grandma, who just loves and supports him all the way to a fault. She showered him with praise and compliments, but deep down, she knew that no matter what she said, Gappy would continue to take it super hard. Gappy would also throw training camps for his hometown so that young kids could learn the ins and outs of the SHL so that they become potential prospects for the league. He would invite teammates and even rivals so that they could help with the camps and really give to the community like they gave to him when he was a little kid. After that, Gappy would continue to train. He's looking to hone his offensive game, while taking his defense to the next level. He was thrilled to see that Toronto selected him 5th overall in the S82 SHL draft, and he will await to hear from his new teammates that will be joining him in the S82 SMJHL draft. Fan Appreciation Day Our fan Appreciation Days in Kelowna are a big thing. Since they let me decide what was going to happen I had a great idea. As we had already had a hot start to the season I had an idea we were going to have a fairly deep run in the playoffs. I cleared it with Head Office to give me more than one day. They were apprehensive but heard me out. So they started in round 1 of the playoffs and continued for every home game until the end. We had a tiered system, where the season ticket holders received a 'Knights Welcome' package. This included a Gold Shield, with the knights logo, as well as a matching sword. They are made of plastic but both pieces had small metal plates so that when banged together they made a very loud sword on shield clang when done in a unified fashion. They also received a long gold trumpet noisemaker that had a Kelowna Knights banner hanging down from it. The second tier was an unlisted surprise option, and that was every person who was wearing a Kelowna Jersey, also received a complementary trumpet. The last tier encompassed every other person in attendance, regardless of attire. Everyone who attended a Kelowna Knights home playoff game were all given; A pack of 3, randomly selected Kelowna Knights players cards (Each player autographed a number of cards that was their jersey number that were randomly placed in packs) and a Kelowna Knights mini inflatable Shield and sword noise maker. These were small round shields with the knights logo and a tubular sword that when banged together kind of sound like a low rumble through the stadium. The products were all designed to increase stadium volume during the playoffs and worked in amazing fashion making Prospera Place one of the loudest buildings each game this post season. 314 Words (+6 TPE) 2. Looking towards the Future With the upcoming draft Kelowna is in a pretty good position. Finishing as runner up in the four stars cup, Kelowna is only losing a few players at seasons end. The team is going to be looking primarily for a backup goalkeeper, a defender or two, and possibly a winger. But with six users capped at 425 and another 5 who will be capped at 350 very soon this is going to be a very strong lineup this season. It is yet to be seen if Kelowna will make a trade at the draft to fill one of the holes, but if a deal is to be done it is likely for a top tier goaltender who is capable of taking over a game themselves, or a defender to fill the teams one suboptimal position. But with two really strong defense pairings, and a second year Yuri, who proved in the season he was more than capable of being a starter, the club is in a position where it does not need to make any big moves in order to make a bid for a second cup final appearance in as many seasons. They could take that opportunity to pick up someone who's expected to shine in two seasons in the draft to replace the old guard who will be leaving giving them a chance to build something that has a chance of some long term success. The club is so deep through the middle that unless you're capped at 425 you likely don't have a shot right now unless you're willing to slid out to the right wing. And even on the wings there is fierce competition for the top two lines, the club being this deep means the team is going to have a legit 3 line threat that it can roll in waves. 306 words (+6 TPE) 11. A 6 Star Show So my lineup is going to consist of myself plus players from 5 other teams. I don't know most of these users, but based off stats and the little I do know about these users I think this is a pretty decent lineup. LW - Jason Bourne - NL - One of the better goalscorers in the SMJHL right now. with 98 goals and 190 points over the past two seasons he's creating alot of offense in alot of ways. C - Ethan Cross - SDT -Cross had a breakout season that has him in MVP talks for the regular season, he lead the league in assist and still managed to put up 40 of his own. His pass first style works well with Bourne's tendency to shoot first. RW - Hetaksh - CAR -This guy I do know, and although they beat us in the finals Hetaksh knows how to get it done when it matters. 12g 31 a and 43 points to lead all scorers in the playoffs, while still being top 5 in shots hits and +/- shows he can get it done all over the ice. LD - Jean Bon - STL - Another person I've just recently met and he is another defensive powerhouse. Blocked 84 shots in 17 games in the playoffs. That's alot of black and blue under the yellow of St.Louis. RD - Rawbie Gardner - KEL - Me, arguably the weakest member in the lineup. Still I had a solid season defensively finishing 3rd in blocked shots in the regular season and was a +22 in our run to the finals G - Ela Solberg - QCC - One thing always stood out to me about Ela, her GSAA is through the roof. a league leading 31.67 in the regular season with a .921 S% and a 2.48 GAA to lead all categories So we have arguably 5 of the top players in their particular roles in the SMJHL and some scrub wannabe defender on the right side who still manages to get in the way of pucks. 330 words (+6TPE) 18. A promotional item at Maine Timber home games is the Timber Tree Towel. Towels are a staple at sporting events and fans can wave them around to get the crowd and hopefully the players hyped as well. The Pittsburgh Steelers of the NFL are known for their “Terrible Towel” and this is quite similar to that except there is nothing terrible about it. The Timber saw it only fitting to have a towel that is shaped like a tree as the giveaway item. Even thought it has a non geometric shape, it still folds through some unique engineering. The Timber Tree Towel comes in both green and tan, the two colors of the team. Every seat in select games has one underneath, and the alternating colors in the stands makes for a nice spectacle when they are all being waved around! Fans love this towel and they are really happy with the giveaway. They hope that the Timber Tree Towel will be a mainstay at games for years to come, maybe they can change it each year and make it a collectors item. The Timber had a quick elimination from the playoffs, but they hope next season they’ll be waving these towels all the way to the cup! (210 words, 4 TPE) 4. It was a tough end to our season in Maine, but we need to move past that and relax and have fun. I don’t think we need to do anything extravagant, but a retreat somewhere where we can all be together sounds perfect! It will help morale rise before next season back to where it should be. We can swim, grill food, make a campfire, tell stories, play games together and talk and laugh. This sounds like a perfect outing with my teammates who are my good friends. Team bonding can be the difference between a good team and a great team, and if we chill and have fun, we will be in the right mindset when the puck drops next season! (122 words, 2 TPE) 13. I am not usually a superstitious guy, in real life or as my player, but the Maine Timber had a strange superstition, or more of a habit, that originated this season and carried all the way to the playoffs. We were exiting the tunnel one night and one of the players stumbled coming out of the tunnel and kind of fell backwards onto the ice. They were fine, of course, but from that moment our tradition of skating backwards onto the ice for warmups was born. It happened to coincide with a multi game winning streak so we saw no reason to stop it. It may seem really silly in hindsight, but sometimes the universe sends signs like that. Plus some people on the team were more superstitious than I am. Of course, I’m a good teammate and like when morale is high, so even in my goalie garb I did the same. Will that tradition last into next season? I think not. After losing our opening series in the playoffs to the lowly Detroit Falcons and getting bounced out despite high expectations, I think we’ll be back to skating forwards out of the tunnel when the next season runs around… hopefully forward into some good things! (207 words, 4 TPE) 17. Feedback for this format of championship week is pretty straightforward, I enjoy this a lot. To be honest I can’t quite remember what the old format was but this is a refreshing task. 800 words really isn’t that bad, I do that for offseason tasks for other leagues like EFL and ISFL so it’s nothing I’m not used to. Having multiple prompts to choose from makes this easier too. Writing 800 words about one thing can sometimes be difficult unless it’s like a media article, but for this stuff it tends to drag on. Having options alleviates all the issues that caused. As for the point tasks, I enjoyed them throughout the season. The Mini PT is a nice little warmup to the week. And even the regular PT being 150 words is doable, I find myself completing both on Monday morning right when they open. Overall, earning TPE in this league is not difficult, so it makes for growing your player a fun and enjoyable experience! (167 words, 3 TPE) 18. Fan Appreciation Day Your team is giving back to their supporters by holding a fan appreciation day for one of their games, where the team will hand out a special commemorative item to show thanks for their continued support of the franchise. You have been tasked to design the product to be given out to the attendees (can be a rally towel, foam finger, bobble head, etc.) Write a blurb about the item, including details on during which game was / will be given out. For the Grizzlies, it's only fitting that our bobble head would be that of a grizzly bear, but while that seems very fitting and easy to describe, the details that go into it would be the real kicker here. The eyes would be red and almost look as if their glowing, to signify the fierce nature of the beast itself, and the claws would look extremely sharp and crisp. The fur coat would have tiny inscriptions from the team that would be used as motivation from the team, maybe something like a team slogan or some persona inscriptions from the players that would bring that 'special' touch to the bobble head. We would also hold a promo where the first X amount of entrants to the arena would get a personally signed bobble head, and they could choose the player in which it's signed by, adding even more of a personal touch to the design concept of this. To further the design, we would also have matching "rally towels" that would also have some personal inscriptions and some personal touches from the team, this would give something to the fans that they can keep to collect, but also rally with us in the arena and swing around to show their support, call it the 'sea of bears' and the more fans, the merrier, all of these would be complementary and be draped over the seats for the fans to pickup when they get inside. (244 words) ----- 12. On the Radar Write a pre-draft scout report on your player from the perspective of a journalist covering the prospects of the S82 SHL draft class. What do possible SHL suitors have to be excited (or perhaps wary?) about when it comes to potentially drafting your player? Beau Boudreaux, a strong willed and determined kid from Quebec is as promising as they get. From a small town that many have likely not heard of unless you're from the area, Beau has overcome a lot of obstacles and hurdles to get to the position that he is in today. Beau has never strayed away from his roots and continues to play with the mentality that there is always "more to achieve" and bigger and better opportunities awaiting him. What you see with Beau, is what you're going to get and that is a motto that he will continue to carry with him throughout his entire career. He hides nothing, he will never lie to you and will always be thorough when asked any questions no matter how blunt or truthful he has to be. Beau is not one to shy away from the cameras and is happy to take interviews, knowing his name can get out there is a huge deal for him, as he wants to one day become a house hold name and someone that kids in the future can aspire to look up to and 'be like', just like he is with his own idols in the hockey world. As for the nitty gritty, Beau Boudreaux is a two-way defender that thrives on both ends of the ice and loves what he is doing, playing with passion on every single play. Beau does everything in his power to be available where needed, and ensures that his position is covered in all scenarios. Whether it's laying down a huge hit, or ensuring he stick-checks at the most opportune moments, Beau can be relied on in even the most hectic of situations. Beau also has the ability on the offensive side to contribute in major ways, whether it be a nasty slap shot or one-tee from the blue line, heck he can even skate it in and dangle with the best of them. While he's a defender on paper, Beau has the capabilities to stick handle, dangle and score from all areas of the offensive zone just like any of the forwards on the ice. This makes him an extremely elite threat to the opposition. His skating is also quite insane, literally being able to go the full 200 feet with the fastest guys on the ice, meaning there really shouldn't be a time that Beau is considered 'lost' or 'left in the dust' by the opposition, something that any GM can be happy about. Overall, Beau will do whatever is asked of him and you should never have to be concerned about what he brings to the table, ask him to do something and he happily will, ask him to change something and he will without even a bat of his eyes. As for the 'cons', we prefer to call them works in progress. Beau is not known for his passing ability as much as his shooting ability, which at times can make it harder for the youngster to sauce the puck or make Datsyuk-style passes, however he is working on becoming more capable and with time we can see him being able to effectively and efficiently shuffle the puck around to make some good plays. Furthermore, he can be known at times especially on offense to 'stick to one spot' on the ice and stay there, this is more of a comfort thing than anything else and again shouldn't be viewed as a negative or a concern, but rather just a coaching opportunity once he's drafted, and fitting into a certain teams play style. Beau can learn, Beau can grow, all you have to do is ask, and you shall receive. Nevada took the eventual four-star champion Carolina Kraken to 7 games in round one of the playoffs. This shows that Nevada is probably closer to contention than many realize. Now we will look at the Battleborn's depth at each position, starting from the net out. In goal the Battleborn are backstopped by Claude L' Castor, next season will be Claude's first season at 425. Tyler Yakimo is an up and coming goalie in the league who plays the backup role in Nevada. The Blueline in Nevada is headlined by Arvinder Singh hopefully for one more season, but behind Singh is an impressive crop of rookies. Orr 2.0 is the most offensively gifted defenseman behind Singh who had a great rookie season offensively and is only going to get better over the next 2 to three seasons. Nevada also has defensively minded players on their blueline in Oskar Svenguard and Armani Dove. The defense is rounded out by Joseph Gates & Mister Mxyzptlk. Nevada is deep on defense and this group could be together and developing as a unit for the next two or three seasons. Up front Nevada hopes to have one more season with McIntyre, Shrinetime & Borealis but McIntyre and Borealis have already played three seasons in the SMJHL. The good news is Nevada has promising young forwards in Harland Saunders, Hunter Cross and Ryan Fishman who were a very effective line and will only get better as they play together. The future is bright for Nevada The teams biggest advantage is how many promising rookies that the drafted last summer have become solid pieces for them who will only improve over the next two or three seasons. Nevada's biggest concern will be trying to give themselves some depth in case the top line or Singh or L'Castor get called up to the SHL. 315 words-6 TPE 12. Hockey Prospects has been scouting junior players ahead of the coming SHL draft. Here is what our scouts had to say about Oskar Svenguard of the Nevada Battlborn: Svenguard isn't a big physical defender like a lot of shut down type defenders are. What he does have is an hockey IQ that is off the charts. Svenguard reads the play very well defensively and knows where to be to block passing lanes and disrupt scoring chances and turn the other direction. Oskar is also a very good skater with great speed and agility which makes him difficult for opposing players to get around him. We would like to see Svenguard round out his game and get better with the puck to really make himself an all situations player when he gets to the big show. Svenguard is a safe pick his ceiling is probably a 40-50 point top four defenseman, his floor projects as a 20-25 point a season shut down defender and penalty killing specialist. Comparable : Jaccob Slavin 169 words-3 TPE 15. Oskar feels very grateful to be able to play the game he loves at a professional level. Oskar was raised to give something back when he was fortunate enough to have the opportunity. Oskar was contacted by an animal rights group about being part of an event to raise money and awareness for the protection of endangered species and he jumped at the chance. He signed sticks, gloves, and a jersey to be auctioned off at the event. Oskar also helped spread word about the event through social media interviews. Oskar would also not be involved with a cause he didn't personally believe in so he donated five-hundred thousand dollars of his own money. The event was a great success that raised a lot of money to protect endangered species. The event featured many well known members of the community and will hopefully become an annual event that Oskar will take part in for many years to come. 158 words-3 TPE 4+6+3+3=16 TPE RE: S81 SMJHL Postseason Bonanza - Heppis - 04-05-2025 4. But you have to also workout in offseason, and rowing is great way to workout, so that is huge part of training for me. 117 words +2TPE 15. Charity Drive I love kids, and my own littleones are the most important thing in my life, so it was time to give a kids with cancer a night that they will remember for their whole life. Before the game they got meet and greet event with NBB players and they had a change to visit in our locker room. They had a great seats in the game and everyone got our gamejerseys with autographs of every player in our team. After the game, they had time to make interviews of our players and those interviews was shown in local tv channel. All the money from popcorn cups and candybag that we sold at the game, was given to cancer research and better equipments for local children hospital. 124 words +2TPE 16. Goals I have couple main goals in SHL, and i hope that i can achieve atleast one of them sooner or later. First of all, i would love to win a cup with Nevada, they gave me a change and they drafted me when i was a nobody and they believed in me. Right now that is my goal number one. I'm happy to see, what team will pick me in SHL draft, but i don't make any pressures about my draft pick round or number, i'm sure that i will be great player for the team that will pick me and i try to be a best and ready as i can when it is time to jump to SHL. When it is time to play in SHL, surely i want to get a cup and that is my another goal. And then we have a international team. I want to get some medal with my dear home country, and i don't care if it is in wjc or adults. It has been always my dream to play for my home country, and i'm so proud to be a part of team Finland in this seasons wjc. To achieve those things that i say earlier, i need to be active. So i have plans to get some job in the league. I want to be a larger part of this amazing community but i also want to earn money. Money is needed to get the level i want to be with my player. I'm interested to be a co-gm or even a gm in future, so i have a lot of work to do and many things to learn, but luckily i have time, and i have this amazing community around me, so i'm sure that i will be there at some point. 302 words +6TPE 18. Fan Appreciation Day As part of our Fan Appreciation Celebration, fans of all ages will receive a Bobble-legged figurine of Matti Brynjarsson, our star goalie of the Great Falls Grizzlies! The springs are located in the hip sockets and allow for a butterfly bobble showing the ability for kick saves! The giveaway will take place during the final game of the season, at home (obviously) against Vancouver, to reward our die hard fans for their devotion and sticking with us through thick and thin. The figurine can be picked up at the end of the game on your way out of the building! 100 words per WordCounter 2. Looking Towards the Future The Great Falls Grizzlies are pretty well set for the future, depending on the growth of their very young team. The team did end up playing a forward on defense this season, and the defensemen are among the most veteran players, so defense may be the focus and need. The Grizzlies have a strong duo in net and an active but very young forward group, who'll look to grow together and become the greatest asset of the team. The team will need to bolster their overall team defense, both the structure and tactics to limit explosive games to improve next season and beyond. 103 words per WordCounter 3. Secret Plans What better way to gain a competitive edge than by bland, white walls in the visiting locker room? Oh and it smells like mold and mildew. There is no air flow, it's just stagnant. On top of that, there've been incognito misters installed in the hallway on the way to the ice that lightly spritz the opponent's socks and skates. Who likes wet socks?! Not only are they uncomfortable, but they'll add an extra little weight to slow you down. Plus you'll probably get gangrene or something. The opposing equipment guys will be killing themselves to dry socks all game. 100 words per WordCounter 4. Funtimes We're going paintballing! What better way to take out your frustrations on each other than with painful but not deadly firearms? The team will take a daytrip to a vast and local paintball business and light each other up for a few hours, air some grievances, work some things out, and build up the team rapport for next season through tactical exercises and competition. After everyone is covered in welts, it's time to hit the Russian Bathhouse for a spa day. Bounce between the steam rooms and salt and dry saunas, the cold room and the Turkish Bathhouse. The owner will spring for drinks and massages for the team as well! It's a great opportunity for self reflection and a good way to visualize your successes and mistakes throughout the season, and begin the recovery process. After that we'll hit the steakhouse and head out on the town for some karaoke! 151 words per WordCounter To Be Continued... A player name is the first of many steps that mark the start of a new SHL career. From meme names, real life references and parodies of hockey players, there are a wonderful assortment of names that can be found throughout the league. Which player(s) have the best name and why? Personally I am a big fan of the name of a new player who is new as a player but not as a user and that is Kameron Urchin Mullen (@hotdog) who is a long time user but has decided to re create with a new player. now I think that name is quite cool because urchins are not really creatures that get thought about very much except in the context of sushi and sometimes pasta so it is kind of nice to see that hot dog has chosen to use an urchin as his render and also to incorporate the urchin motif into the name of his newest player so in that sense I think that his name is quite cool because it is quite rare and unique and exciting in my opinion let me know what you think down in the comments below yeah make sure to smash that like button as well 155 words (+3 TPE) 16. Goals Although your career may still be in its early stages, it's still a great time to think about the future. What are some goals you have for your career, or some personal goals for the site? Are you striving for a HOF induction? Getting a site job? I would like to be on the atlanta inferno and it looks like I am on the atlanta inferno so that is goal number on completed woo hoo! @hotdog and @micool132 thank you two for contributing to me meeting my goal. goal number two for bingankus glunksplosion also known as bingo is to reach 2k tpe how ever I am not off to as good of a start on this one I might need to get some fantasy tpe or get some really good predictions in so we will have to see how it goes also damn I gotta go check the word counts for my answers to some of these prompts like I just don't know if I'm under yapping or over yapping for any of them 128 words (+2 TPE) 17. Feedback For recreates, how was doing this new version of CW compared to the old one? Was the experience better, or worse? How were the PT changes? For first gens, you can also talk about your experiences with PTs in general too this season! I am going to be honest and say that I do not remember doing the full championship week point task because I cruised along on my gm championship week pass for so long that I honestly forgot all about the trauma of doing championship week so this is my first time trying to get all 16 total points earned in a long time. With that being said it seems kind of nice to be able to just pick and choose how much to write about each topic so I can just choose to have an extended yap session when ever I want about a certain topic and not have to write about topics that I do not want to write about. Also I scrolled past a lot of the questions and this one was the one that I decided to write about first so I don't actually know how I feel about the rest of the questions yet but first impressions are good. I will also say that no one ever enjoyed doing the old championship week well I guess people generally do not enjoy writing point tasks but championship week in particular was quite a large pain point for many people and I think it just was quite tedious and I think there is a decent chance that this new format has made it a bit less tedious so in that sense it does seem like a positive change but like I said this is the first prompt that I have answered for this post season bonanza so maybe ask me again when I am done with the rest of them however there is also a chance that I end up yapping for the full like 650 words in this prompt (I got 3 tpe for milstones!) and I do not need to even do any of the other prompts in which case that would mean I was successful in just vomiting out some words for a single prompt for the entire championship week and I think that would mean that I enjoyed the change to the system so we will see how it all unfolds and the reader of this post will already be able to tell at a glance how it all unfolded so let me know when you read this and find out because I have not yet found out since I am still in the process of writing this and finding out 407 words (+8 TPE) 18. A season of hockey is long and grueling, and no one is more deserving of some fun times than the overworked players of the Great Falls Grizzlies. As the newly appointed fun director, I’m taking the initiative to develop a biweekly meetup at the local barcade. A bunch of hockey players will almost always jump at the chance to drink some brews and play some chel, but this is a little bit more elite of an experience. The facility in mind is luxurious to say the least: premium 80” monitors and massive plush sectional couches fill the primary game rooms, where the team can relax and enjoy a cocktail, beer, or glass of wine while they go head-to-head with their teammates. Whether it’s chel, COD, or some other game, the barcade has exactly what they’re looking for - we made sure of it. If console gaming gets boring, the team can meander over to the arcade cabinets and pinball machines in the adjacent play area to test their skills against retro classics. No matter how hard you try, it’s impossible to resist the siren call of The Simpsons or the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade cabinets, especially with a group of friends. It doesn’t end there, though: the barcade features a go-kart track already. A bit suspicious that a place that sells alcohol also allows you to drive little cars, but I promise you it’s a thing and it’s totally allowed. This is a great way for the boys to be super reckless and self-destructive without preventing them from showing up to practice the next day. We considered snowboarding or skiing or whatever, but the knuckleheads are so prone to injury even when they’re doing something that they’re good at, we couldn’t risk the very likely possibility of them doing something stupid on the slopes. (305 words) 14. Boone Breakaway had mixed results in his first season as an SMJHL player, but his effort was always high. To rest the muscles and recover mentally, Boone has rented a lake house somewhere in the south of the eastern US. Oh, let’s say Tennessee. He and his friends from back in the day (and any teammates who care to come along) will all spend a week or two in decompression mode: There’s a pair of pontoon boats tied off at their private dock, a little sandy beach with a volleyball net, and even a few jet skis. The guys will get up to the usual man vacation stuff: go fishing, grill meats (but not the fish, red meat only), drink dark liquor over ice, and play cards. Boone has been sharpening up his skills at cornhole and darts, too, he’s hoping that he will rack up some of the wins that he missed out on during the season. As a hockey player, he doesn’t get to spend a whole lot of time in the hot sunny weather, so Boone is making a point to soak in the warmth as much as possible while he can. He will either come back from the off season a respectable bronze or a lobstery red. Either way, there will be visible proof that he was in the sun a lot. A week or two of downtime like this will be just what the doctor ordered, and Breakaway will be ready to rush back to Great Falls and get on the ice to prep for the upcoming season. (263 words) 16. I have a few goals both for Boone and for myself within the league for my career, but nothing astronomical or unachievable; I don’t want to set a goal that relies on luck. I’d like for Boone to reach at least 1500 TPE during his prime. With some folks hitting 2000, I don’t think I’m reaching for the stars with that goal necessarily, it’s more a matter of staying plugged in. I’d also like to fortify my bank account over my career to the tune of $100 million or so. Which brings me to my personal goals: 1) secure and maintain a well paying site job, and 2) be (and stay) active in the locker rooms and general SHL discord. As for the first personal goal, I’ve been hired, so things are coming along swimmingly there. I’ve barely been active in the general SHL discord though, so I have a lot of work to do there. (156 words) 17. This version of CW compared to the previous one is a huge improvement for me personally. The freedom to respond in short or long form responses to each prompt is huge. Previously, I have felt like I was abbreviating my responses to some prompts because I’d already reached the word count requirements, while for others I would be struggling to put together a more verbose answer to a prompt that I could answer with fewer words than the prompt demanded. Being able to truly pick and choose to this degree makes the task feel much less like a chore and more like a fun opportunity to do some creative writing. Fan Appreciation Day: For fan appreciation day, I've decided to design a bobblehead to give away. The bobblehead will be based off of Ottawa's all-star and point leader for this season, Hotdog Lunch! The bobble head will depict Hotdog Lunch celebrating a goal by taking off his 13 gallon hat and throwing it to the crowd. 53 words +1 tpe 2. Looking Towards the Future Heading into the next season, Ottawa is losing a good chunk of our roster. Were pretty strong down the middle and have 4 great centers, but our wings arent nearly as good. We have 2 425 tpe centers but our wings are all locked at 350 or below right now. Luckily for us, wing is really our only weakness. we have 4 solid defensemen and a great goalie. We just need a backup. I think our wings will get much better as the season goes on and as we all earn tpe to hit our 350/425 cap, but for now wing is the biggest weakness. 106 words +2 tpe 14. R&R Ottawa didnt make it far in the playoffs, but that just means we get to get extra golf in this year before the season starts backup. Just like every other hockey player, Im gonna spend a lot of the offseason golfing. Golfing is actually pretty useful when it comes to playing hockey. It can help with your hand-eye coordination, maintaining your core strength and help with shot power and strength (and its just fun!). A long with golfing, I'm gonna head back to the states to visit family all along the east coast before heading back to Ottawa to start my offseason training and practice. During practice this offseason, I gonna make sure to focus on my offense. Since I played defense last season I'm still in a defensive mindset and I want to get back into my offensive mindset that got me this far into my career. After a few months of training, ill be in tip-top shape and ready for the new season in no time! 168 words +3 tpe 15. Charity Drive During the offseason, I'm going to spend some of my personal time organizing a charity hockey tournament that everyone from all walks of life and all skill levels is welcome to play in. My charity will be raising money for children of all ages who cant afford to play hockey, because lets be honest, hockey is EXPENSIVE! The tournament will be set up as a 3v3 style, 1 game elimination tournament with each team will consist of one player from every skill level graded from a C to A, that way all of the teams are more fair and it keeps the tournament competitive, but friendly. The winners of the tournament will get brand-new hockey equipment, and I will personally donate $5000 to Ed Snider Youth Hockey & Education in order to create fair and equal opportunities for kids of all ages! Id also try to setup a raffle for people who don't participate that would be full of Ottawa Highlanders merch, autographed items and tickets to games. 168 words +3 tpe 16. Goals Coming back to the site after a short hiatus, one of my goals is to build my bank account back up. I'm gonna try to keep doing chirpers and get a site job here soon. I'm done with college for the year in May, so I'll likely try to get a job around then when I get more free time. Now, goals for my player. I want to at minimum reach 1.5k TPE and aim for 2k TPE. Last player I only reached 1k TPE so I figured a 500 TPE increase was a fair, and reasonable goal for myself. Another goal of mine is to be in the goal-scoring race every year. I want to compete for trophies because I really didn't get the chance to with my last player since I was a goalie stuck on a not-great team. I don't know how realistic it is, but I'd love to win Rookie of the Year as well. I doubt it will happen but we'll see. Ultimately, my goal is just to stick around longer this time. I want to be in the league for more than 5 seasons and make an impact on a competitive team hopefully as an elite goal scorer and top liner. 207 words +4 tpe TPE TOTAL: 16 TPE YIPPEEEEEEEEEE |
