Odd, I was always under the impression DEF has the biggest impact during the sim, in terms of 'enhancing' other categories, with PH following closely behind. Might have to bump my SKA now.
Uh oh watch out league

Ok, I get this, but...

What about Gorlab?

We need JackCross in here, because a lot of what JayWhy is saying doesn't entirely match what I remember hearing from JC back in his hayday.

It certainly doesn't. JY is basically telling me the opposite of what JC told me Smile)

I'll take a crack at some of this.

1) Skating is not the most important attribute, in fact it can be a bit more damaging than some other very important attributes. It's that people in SHL have said skating was so important for so long, no one ever actually checked and realized that the simmers always used Strength as the most important, because it is. And that's what I've always told people and is the reason I've helped a lot of people be successful.

Similarly, Puck Handling is tangible. It's known as the Shot Blocking Attribute. It isn't a takeaway attribute, it's literally in the manual as: Higher chance of blocking a shot, and less chance to lose the puck when hit. It's not a takeaway attribute.

4) We had a Bojo stat thing for seeing how the hits mattered and all, it really just showed that the index was kind of right, the guy who hits people more is often the one with the most takeaways pretty much. So yes, hits matter more than we think, especially with the percentages these people play.

Overall, a lot of this seems like you just didn't do the right digging or didn't talk to the right people to actually get a full grasp of what the sim is outputting. It does give a good bit, it's just not a highly in depth simulation. That's just the compromise we've made. I'm sorry to see you leaving, as I do have great respect for you and I think you're a fun person to have around. But I understand the frustration and wish you the best.

Your last point is wrong about me not digging. I never cared what made a good player look at my guys Smile) my point was we have no stats for half the attributes. Even if PH is a shot blocking stat... forwards pretty much never shot block. Plus that makes Defense less relevant if sb is primarily PH. Me getting strength/skating mixed up for best stat is irrelevant to the fact neither are specifically visible in the sim.

Remember I was the one who put out all the shit on possession numbers so yes i dug through the sim index itself for stats Tongue

Though I'll edit op and say sim info is off.

I wish STHS somehow built in "highlights" of big plays

How cool would it be if we could see our actual players perform big hits or score nasty goals

IMO that would make more people build different types of players

This would be dope. But also for like sick saves, important shot blocks, etc.

DEFENSE is the most important attribute because it controls hockey IQ and positioning of your player on the ice. You can have 99 Scoring but will struggle to score with 40 Defense. The successful skater, in any position, has defense at or above 85.
