The expansion team I would create for the SHL would be placed in St.Johns Newfoundland. I would put it there because they have had a rough time getting a franchise stable there and I think it would be great to try and with a league like SHL it could work as a lot of the teams are in Canada and a few of the United States based teams are close to the Canadian Border, so travel could be eased. The team would be branded at the St.Johns Sturgeon. I picked Sturgeon, because Sturgeon is a fish species known to the Maritimes, so I thought it made sense. The Mascot would be a Sturgeon (Example: https://prnt.sc/jsasln ). The team colors would be a like White/Navy Blue/Grey concept kind of like the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL concept. It would be a nice little chance for the fans in Halifax, to get a chance to see SHL players and watch their former stars at the next level.

If I ever have the chance to create a franchise, which is probably never because I hate being a general manager, I already know what’s the concept I’ll be using. I’ll create a team in the city I’ve grew up for a big part of my youth and which I am still fond no matter what. I’ll have the team in Sherbrooke, a city in Quebec. It’s a city with two majors “attractions”. First, it’s the fact it’s a student’s town (you were wondering why I put attraction in quote? that’s why). The second attraction is their military reserve. They have some of the oldest reserve units in Canada. This is mostly what I would use for the team. The Sherbrooke Hussars would be the team I would create. Their colors would most likely be the same color as the reserve unit in town; Red, Blue and White. I would probably see a Winged Hussars as their mascot because it’s easily recognizable as a ‘Hussars’ even though that’s not exactly the canadians’ hussars.

It seems easy to think of where you would put an expansion team initially, until you remember that a lot of the most important locations are also accounted for by the SMJHL. Seemingly every major hockey metropolis has a team in either majors or the juniors, except 3 i can think of: Chicago, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. I personally don't see enough representation for Pittsburgh in sim leagues, so I'm going to there for my expansion franchise.

However, it's hard to think of any symbolic names that could be used given the majority of them are taken. For that reason, I have decided to ''steal'' the name of a historic ABA franchise, the Pittsburgh Condors. The Condors were the last basketball franchise to play in Pittsburgh, and seeing as the NBA has no intention of ever bringing a team back to the Steel City, the Condors seems like the perfect name for the organization going forward.

My expansion team would be located in another borough of New York, Brooklyn. There is nothing quite like an inter-city rivalry, and if a team expanded there right now it would be an arms race between the Rage and them. I would call the team the Brooklyn Bruins, to ramp up the rivalry by having another logo with a bear. The team would be colored Blue, White, and Black, and would have really classic jerseys without too much going on. I think in a place like Brooklyn you need to have that sense of tradition, even if the team hasn't played a game yet. The mascot would be named Rufus, and he'd be a bear with bucked teeth, because why not. I think the Brooklyn team would attract more fans from the Long Island area as well as Staten Island and Queens, sort of like the Mets do in baseball. Anyways, that's what my expansion team would be, and I think that the world could use a little bit of Rufus in their lives.

I've decided to create an expansion team in Portland, OR. Portland is a fantastic hockey city, and would make an ideal location for a team given the proximity to San Fran and Seattle. This should allow for excellent rivalries. I am aware that there was a previous team in Portland and that the franchise moved amid after some wrong doing, but this would be a fresh start for the city! The fans deserve a second chance! Currently, the plan is to call the team the Portland Sasquatch. The mascot would obviously be a big cartoony sasquatch. The working name for the mascot right now is Steve Squatch, but there would be a fan competition to generate better names. Our team colors for this name would be forest green, sky blue, and light grey in the spirit of the pacific northwest. Other names however are being considered at this time such as the Portland Storm, the Portland Tsunami, and the Portland Earthquake. The Portland Subduction was briefly considered but was deemed to easy to manipulate into inappropriate uses.

Where would I put my team? Well I think we need somewhere that likes hockey, so north US or Canada is cool, and I don't want somewhere that already has a team. So let's put it in Wisconsin, they seem to like their hockey and have some tradition with UW-Madison winning six national championships.

Alright now we need a team name, and Wisconsin Cheese Curds is too easy, The Wisconson Beer and Brats? Nah doesn't really work either. Looking up the wiki on Wisconsin their state beverage is milk and the state microbe is Lactococcus lactis, a Gram-positive bacterium used extensively in the production of buttermilk and cheese, jesus fucking christ Wisconsin. I guess we can call them the Wisconsin Lactose Tolerants.

The mascot is gonna be an old school glass container of milk. The rink isn't actually frozen water but frozen milk, cheese curds are always only $2 and beer is PBR at $3 a tallboy. The half time tradition is identifying the mom in the crowd that slept with the milk man.

Being a huge Rolling Stones fan I always wanted to make a team based on them. Since London England doesn't work travel wise for the SHL we will be placing our franchise in London Ontario. We will be called the London Pirates in honor of Keith Richards character in Pirates of the Caribbean. The colors of the team will of course be black and white with the skull and crossbones logo on the jersey. The concessions will all be pirate based themes and the music will of course be only Rolling Stones songs. We will fire a cannon shot every time the team scores a goal. Our mascot will of course be a pirate, dressed as Keith's character. For opening night we have even contracted Mr Richards himself and he and Johnny Depp will arrive in full costume and will be bringing with them several children from the local hospital to the game. A portion of all gate receipts will forever be donated to the local childrens hospital in the London pirates name.

Well if I was given the chance to make an expansion team in this league I would probably make an American team in Las Vegas and the team name would be the Las Vegas Flamingos and the mascot would of course be a bright pink Flamingo. The jerseys would be Black and Pink and White and will stand out very nicely across the league. I chose Vegas because at the night the strip is so bright and it’s such an exciting place to be for anyone who visits it and a very popular destination for many travellers. There is so many things to do while you’re there and the Flamingo would be a good mascot in Vegas. It would attract a lot of new fans and people who are visiting just to see Las Vegas can see a hockey game while they are down there. Another reason why I chose this and the flamingo is because Pink is my favorite color and I of course enjoy travelling to Vegas.

Oh, expansion. We know that will never happen in the SHL no matter what but sure, if there was an expansion, there has to be a team in Portland because they deserve it. I have no idea why the Pride rebanded to move to San Francisco which is obviously a really bad idea. So instead of the Portland Admirals, it will be the Portland Mariners. The Mariners because it makes sense. Why not and it sounds very nice. Portland made the finals in the SHL before so obviously because of their very nice and loyal fans, they can go back to the finals with the new and much looking better team with better management, I can see why not Portlant being an expansion team not be a bad idea.

The mascot for this team is none other than a damn moose because it looks better plus I like mooses so it is nice.

Written Task: Write about the expansion team you've decided to create! Where are you putting it and why, and what is the team branding/concept? What's the mascot? Must be at least 150 words and include team name and location.

Wow, you let me have a team? That is kind of scary. As much as I would love to create a team in the bay area of California, the Pride have taken over that market so it is time to bring hockey back to Atlanta, Georgia. Seeing as the Thrashers were named after the Georgia state bird, the Brown Thrasher, I decided that it would be good to stick with state representation and create the Atlanta Gopher Tortoises! Our main colors are going to be light brown and dark brown to match the colors of the illustrious gopher tortoise. Our mascot is going to be John Tortorella wearing a tortoise costume so it can be Torts the Tortoise. All-in-all, I think that this is a good foundation for an organization. The Thrashers might not have worked out, but the Gopher Tortoises will rise to the occasion and bring Challenge Cup glory to the city of Atlanta and the state of Georgia as a whole.

Hmm if I were to create an expansion it would definitely be the Quebec Nordiques, they were very close to getting an expansion team in the real life NHL but lost out to the Vegas Golden Knights as well as the new Seattle team that will be named in the coming year or so. It would definitely have to have French branding similar to what the old Impact had in the SHL and we all know Quebec is a die hard and polarizing hockey city in the NHL and SHL. The Mascot would probably have to be apart of the French Reveloution in some way shape or form or it can be simply be a Snow Owl as it's the provincial animal of Quebec City. The Nordiques if it became an expansion team in the SHL would be nostalgic for many SHL Site users that grew up in the 90s watching the Nordiques have hall of famers on their team like Joe Sakic, Peter Forsberg, Mats Sundin, Peter Statsny as well as legends of the game like Owen Nolan play for their franchise.

If you want a new concept, yes you can do X team in Y place for Z reasons. But, you can go even further and redefine what is a hockey team. If your mind is open, don’t go further than

The Kingfish of the Atlantis

In that new marketable concept, the team will build an arena on a huge cruise boatwith enough places to hold daily hockey matches. The Atlantis team will be able to go play around the world (but 90% of their activity will be held between Boston and Miami for economic reasons). That way, you can be the home team of multiple places and sell twice as much of half-season tickets. The concept would focus on being the lords of the sea, with a giant aquarium under the ice (or light projections of huge fishes if that doesn’t pass the security standards). The mascot would be a merman but his spear would be a hockey stick.

Wouldn’t it be huge and awesome !!??

The next SHL expansion team should be the Madagascar monkeys. Why you ask? Cause they gave West Kendall a team so why not continue the trend of rediculous locations! The branding concept is simple. A country that hockey would never be known should have an SHL team. They will be a laughing stock, but people will buy jerseys as a joke and travel for games boosting their economy. See I’m trump, boosting economy’s. But less psycho and racist. Basically the mascot would also be a monkey, and don’t none of you little bitches try to point out some underlying racism in that team name cause I know y’all some snowflake ass bitches and will try that shit. Anyways, back to the point. The jerseys would be monkey suits so they wouldn’t need to pay some 35 year old sex offender to dress up in a constime and take pictures with little kids. Also all games out-doors, in Madagascar. Cause that’s as good of an idea as a team in west Kendall
