RE: S48 PT #1 - SHL Draft Kit S48 - Buster - 06-18-2019 Code: Where to get your Hits and Blocks in the draft: Hello and welcome to SHL inside. Today our topic is players in the SHL fantasy league who you may not typically think of for your hits and shot blocks who may be available in the later rounds. These may be newer players or they may be rookies. We will be highlighting both a forward and a defensemen for each of the categories. Don't expect to see the Viktor Marius' of the world on this list. Hits Kevin Hamilton – Buffalo Stampede - @kckolbe In the past when people typically think of hits, they think of the Buffalo bash brothers of Viktor Marius and Kevin Hamilton. Viktor Marius is still on the top of his game but the hands of time have finally started to get to Hamilton. Kevin Hamilton is starting to heavily regress and most fantasy owners, especially those in keeper leagues, have started to get weary on the forward. Use this to your advantage if you are in a one year league. Hamilton produced a very solid 45 points with 12 goals so you'll get offensive points but still managed a very respectable 154 hits. Hits are highly valued and if Hamilton is available with your last forward pick, you'll be gaining a bunch of free points. Akashi SixNine – Tampa Bay Barracuda - @FourFour If you need one more defensemen to finish your lineup, consider the rookie for the Tampa Bay Barracuda Akashi SixNine. SixNine came out of the gates firing in the pre-season with 4 goals and 32 points so he looks to be very respectable on the offensive side of the game. His hits are where he shines though, with 127 hits. You may not be able to find guys like that in the 6th round so consider the kid. Shot Blocks Max Mauldin – Los Angeles Panthers - @Wasty Being that forwards are rarely leaders in shot blocks, this one may end up being a bit of a stretch. Mauldin's higher than normal shot blocks plus his overall game output is what makes him look like a shots block steal for me. Mauldin ended up with 22 shot blocks this pre-season which is almost 10 higher than the average forward coupled with 48 points. He won't get you a ton of extra points so I wouldn't consider forwards for this stat but pay attention to this plus the overall output. Charlie Shieck – San Franscisco Pride - @Grapehead If you have a team that is very heavy on points and hits, consider Shieck with your last pick. Though he may not be relied upon on the offensive side of the game, but still had 35 points in the pre-season, he can make up a ton of shot block points to give you a balanced attack. Shieck finished with 71 shot blocks in the pre-season. Consider him to round your team off and give you a balanced attack. So if you have a late round pick and need hits or shot blocks, these are players to consider. Any fantasy owner who picks up Kevin Hamilton, Akashi SixNine, Max Mauldin or Charlie Shieck will be very happy if they keep up their pre-season output. Hockey News looks at the prospects to target currently playing in the SMJHL. In this article, we'll take a quick look at some of the top new goalie draftees to the SHL, and forecast when you can expect to have them make an impact on your fantasy team. Up first is Whalers goalie, and WKP (champs) draft pick Kasperi Braulin @me . Braulin was selected in the first round, a feat rarely done for a goalie, last done in S42 by Geezus Kryyst. Braulin looks to take over the starting gig in Vancouver this season, as the previous #1 went inactive after a tampering controversy. This isn't to say Braulin is ill-prepared for the role, as he recently capped and is the highest earning netminder from his class (360 TPE). He projects to be a top goaltender in the J for two to three more seasons, and take over in the SHL for Beaujeaux Biscuit when the goaltending great decides to hang em up. Next is Biz Nasty @GrilledTwinkiez . Nasty was picked up by the Edmonton Blizzard this season, and projects to again backup Mike McKorsy in Halifax this season. Nasty is in a similar situation as Braulin, he just wasn't fortunate enough to have a starting gig suddenly open up. He looks to unseat Tommy Tuck as the #1 in Edmonton, and with Tuck about to enter regression, Nasty should be in a good spot to do so in 2-3 seasons. Finally in Alexander Thorstrom@Jesster . Thorstrom was drafted 2nd overall by the Raptors, and ended up starting the majority of the season for them. He'll start again, but with fellow S48 goalie Knox Booth hot on his heels TPE wise, he could share the duties with him. Thorstrom has to surpass S41 draftee Kata Vilde for the #1 spot in Calgary, so he could be waiting an extra few seasons compared to his S48 draftmates. (want to mention more but I'm already way over the minimum! Go S48 goalies go!) RE: S48 PT #1 - SHL Draft Kit S48 - Tomasnz - 06-18-2019 Quote:SHL Dynasty report: Looking at the goalie prospects to stash this year for performance down the road, look no further than future Toronto super star Harry Carpet. The goalie drafted in the season 47 class, has been the understudy for junior legend Patrice Nadeau these last two seasons, and will be ushered into one of the most needy goalie situations in the league in Toronto. S49 will be the season to watch Harry breakout into the SHL scene, and possibly don't sleep on Toronto that season either. @Carpy48 Two other goalies to stash who have proven junior records and are expected to make their presence known in season 49. Neither has quite as good a situation as Harry (situation over talent remember for your drafts), but roster changes and regression could easily turn platoon situations into clear starting roles for these guys. Peter Larson is projected to be the highest tpe goalie entering s49 as a rookie, and his multi GoTY nominations and junior RoyT award speaks to his quality. Going into s49 Manhattan need to make a decision regarding how they will handle having two startable goalies. Tibuk Soonika is another s46 draftee that will be making his entry to the shl in s49. Drafted to Chicago he is going up against both the incumbent JayBea as well as draft mate Billy Sorokin. But again Tibuk the current four star champion has the quality to make the necessary impact in the shl. @chetib RE: S48 PT #1 - SHL Draft Kit S48 - Narconis - 06-18-2019 A few bold predictions for S48. Prediction one, Minnesota Chiefs will be just fine. Everyone knows that Minnesota was given the beater stick as punishment for tampering. Despite the stiff punishment, the immediate aftermath will be minimal. Minnesota managed to go 30 wins, 14 losses, and 6 overtime losses this preseason behind stellar goaltending from Sebastien Primeau @MrPrime. This will get them to the playoffs, and they might even win the West. Whether Minnesota will be able to completely adjust to their punishment without a significant decline is performance has yet to be seen. Toronto will make the playoffs. The North Stars had a rough preseason going 19 wins, 19 losses, and 12 overtime losses. Toronto will make a few adjustments during the season that will convert several of those overtime losses to wins, propelling them to the playoffs. They have shown they can take their opponents to the edge… they just need to go a step further. Code: Get ahead of the Awards report: The SHL Hockey guide looks ahead at some of the surprise entries and strong contenders of next seasons Award nominations Coming into the S48 season a bold prediction I have is that the Manhattan rage will be able to win both the best team in the division, best defensemen award, goal-scoring leader, and the best two-way player. Coming into the season the rage has a very young roster with huge potential to go all the way and win the cup. On the team is Reginald MacIntyre who has been a major part in the Rage’s success from the past season and moving forward. The man can rack up the hits and shots block easily while also getting points along the way. The scoring leader is going to be none other than Luke Thomason. I believe Thomason is going to have a breakout season and be able to score a huge amount of goals for the season. Last but not least the best two player award will go to Jakub Novak the 3rd line center who is unmovable on the penalty kill and also able to set up his linemates to score goals. @Esso2264 @"luketd"@GoonerBear RE: S48 PT #1 - SHL Draft Kit S48 - Julio Tokolosh - 06-18-2019 Drafting for grit. aim for @ ![]() RE: S48 PT #1 - SHL Draft Kit S48 - ErM - 06-18-2019 The boldest prediction I can make is that Tor Tuck is not going to lead the Simulation Hockey League in PIMs or in fights this season. After a violent last season where Tor Tuck started to show his grumpy old man side and got into fights in nearly twenty percent of the games he participated in many think he is going to stick to his new ways of smashing skulls instead of scoring goals. After a full season getting out his rage I think we can expect to see Tor Tuck take a step back from the fights and PIMs and put together a decent season on the ice in other categories. To take the prediction even bolder, I do not think Tor Tuck will even lead the Edmonton Blizzard in either PIMs of fights in Season 47. This is going to be a blow to many of the season predictions that have been made, but just you wait and see. RE: S48 PT #1 - SHL Draft Kit S48 - DeletedAtUserRequest - 06-18-2019 After the Hype report: Every player develops at different rates after arriving in the league, and some require a bit more seasoning than others. create a report on players you believe are now past their hype peaks but still shouldn’t be forgotten on draft day. Today we are highlighting a defensive player currently on Tampa Bays top line named Maui ... a product of the S42 class Maui was selected 5th overall by the Manhatten Rage on what looked to be a slam dunk pick for the big city franchise. The hard hitting Latvian powered his way around the Raptors blueline averaging 90 hits and 70 blocks a season while displaying flashes of offensive skill shown by a 41 point season in S42. With nothing left to prove in the juniors Maui moved to Manhatten in S44 where he continued to pound the peripherals dropping 80 hits and 66 blocks in his rookie campaign. But Manhatten and Maui parted ways moving into his sophmore season as he was dealt to Tampa Bay. Details of the trade were not disclosed, but there were some reports of a relaxed work eithic as his TPE pace was alittle under the top tier players in his draft. None the less a rebuilding Tampa team grabbed the young defender and left him alone to progress at his own pace. Over the next 3 seasons Maui began to make a name for himself as a hard hitting defensive defender averaging close to 140 hits per season with lots of blocked shots on a rebuilding defensive unit... But here in S48, Hockey News believes that an offseason of hard work backed behind an incredible IIHF tourny where he led all defenseman in points with 14 could turn this under the spotlight Barracuda into a household name. Maui should recieve all the minutes he can handle on the ice this season and could be someone to keep an eye on as an after the hype player for your upcoming drafts. @UncleLeosKomrade RE: S48 PT #1 - SHL Draft Kit S48 - chetib - 06-18-2019 Bold SHL predictions: This article discusses some of our boldest predictions about the upcoming S48 season. S48 is going to signal a shifting of power players and goalies moving forward. With the large Reddit draft that prompted multiple expansion teams the players from that draft are moving into their SHL teams and are going to start becoming impact players of tomorrow. We can already see rookies starting to work their way up the individual point leaders this preseason including Matt Kholin (@“Kalakar”), Akashi SixNine (@”FourFour”), and Jimmy Slothface (@”slothfacekilla”) who all have 30+ points in preseason. On the goalie front Vivian Leblanc (@”Psanchez55”) is off to great preseason start in Winnipeg with Eddy Ask Jr (@”Ask”), Patrice Nadeau (@”Fluw”), and Peter Larson (@Tomasnz) all posting good numbers this preseason and all with excellent results in their respective shootouts. Showing they can stand toe to toe with today’s current shooters It will be exciting to watch and see how the season plays out but the old guard is moving on and the new hotness is rolling in. RE: S48 PT #1 - SHL Draft Kit S48 - CanadianDuck - 06-18-2019 There are many strong rookies set to make the jump to the SHL this year, and today I will be showcasing a few you may or may not have heard of, but should get used to hearing. Bobby Sharp - Buffalo Stampede @Nerio Bobby may be the best defensive rookie forward making his debut this season, Buffalo has a potential breakout star on their hands with this young talent. Nathan Explosion - San Francisco Pride @micool132 While he isn't the only rookie on this years Pride team, Nathan currently has a better scoring touch than his counterpart. He is a stronger and slighty better skater as well. Barry Batsbak - Calgary Dragons @Katth This young talent looks to have a fighting side which could make the opposition think twice when trying to get passed him.He has a very slick passing ability to go along with what should become a strong defensive forward for the Dragons in a few years. Most members having retired leaving only a handful left in the league. Some are regressing rapidly, others are somehow continuing to thrive. The prime example from this class who is past his prime but still amazing is Jason Visser. He has somehow put up 74 points in pre-season despite being in his about 18th season. The reason he is past is prime is because he does this every year, it’s just expected at this point. Definitely keep an eye out for him on draft day. Other to look for include Alex Light or Ludwig Kock Schroder, they may be available lower down in the draft but are still sure to provide value. They could be steals as people begin to fear a drop in their abilities. A must avoid from this class is Trevor Wilson, he seems to have fallen off a cliff and looks like he may be forced out of the league soon. RE: S48 PT #1 - SHL Draft Kit S48 - Ace - 06-19-2019 Hits! They’re critical for your fantasy team. Who should YOU draft to get those critical fantasy points? 1) Viktor Marius – Premier scoring forward turned power forward for the Buffalo Stampede? Slam hell yes, brother! 2) Mike Izzy – Izzy was just ranked the #1 player in the SHL in ArGarBarGar’s top 100. He’ll collect the points, and the hits. A no brainer pick to collect those clutch fantasy points! 3) Lil Manius – He’s going to be clutch and finished the preseason #3 in hits with the Winnipeg Jets. He’s a young player with a bright future, and is a fine selection to pick up for hits. 4) Manuel Gotze – On a young New England Wolfpack squad, Gotze will receive a lot of minutes and will use every one to try to put someone through the glass. 5) Cameron Carter II – A well publicized free agency process turned many off of him, but the skill that he displays is undeniable. He’s going to do well this season and very well could earn that Dar nomination that he salivates for. |
