Some surprising new names are leading the league in total points which includes Lil Manius (29 points), Shooter McGavin (29 points) or Anders Christiansen (28 points) .. one of these 3 will win this seasons point title.

FOR!

Lil Manius has really put him self in the position to succeed the season and is has a great opportunity to finish at the top of the board come end of season. Currently he is sitting on the top line with his squad and has all the ice time he needs to put up a dominate and physical season.

RE: WFT's: Make the Case (S48) - Julio Tokolosh - 06-27-2019

Code:
Tampa Bays 14-5 start should come as no surprise as they boast the most talented young line up in the East.

Against: They have the most talented young line up by far, and their 14-5 start has been a healthy side effect of the correctly structured rebuild. I say "against" because the peak of Tampa's youthful core still hasn't matured. In the next 2-5 seasons, I will expect them to maintain at least a 14-5 record, but at least until then, I will still consider it a pleasant surprise.

Code:
The Best juniors prospect in the world is named Julio Tokolosh of Colorado.

Against: In terms of potential, Tokolosh is certainly up there. Monkey D. Luffy @TnlAstatine has earned TPE at a higher pace and has produced similar numbers while leading to similarly disappointing team results. @Fordyford is a talented defenseman who has already played a role in getting a major league team a championship. While his off-ice efforts are admirable, his on-ice performance is still waiting to click, although he has fared much better than his previous minus 19. However, the best argument against Julio's top status are Kelowna's Gunnar Sodderberg @sköldpaddor and Anaheim's Corey Kennedy @SDCore . Sodderberg (umlauts excluded) earns at a similar level, contributes heavily on and off the ice and has the locker room accolades to prove it. Tampa Bay has begun their restructuring, and in their first major tank/rebuild starting year the GM selected Gunnar as early as possible. He will be the player that Tampa Bay's impending rise will be based around. @SDCore Corey Kennedy is another defenseman who performs on a similar tier as Tokolosh, with effort levels closer to Ford's. He will slide in well with a thirsty Chicago blue line. He is certainly a player to structure your franchise around, which is something one franchise does not think of Ford.

FOR.

Tampa Bay is obviously an up and coming team masterfully crafted by GM jss. He was hired to turn a failing franchise around and that's exactly what he's done by drafting young talent - and the leadership in the room from older teammates helps as well.

Just think how OP TBB would be if they hadn't sent cloots down another season

don't look a gift horse in the mouth !

The Manhattan Rage (6-13-4) who are currently in last place will storm back in the 2nd half and capture 1 of the 5 playoff spots in the Western Division.

Against. Love the rage and the way they are building their team but I think their hole is already too deep. They would essentially have to perform at a rate that is equal to or better than the teams that are leading the league in points right now. I just don't think it's doable for a younger squad who is going to be an absolute force in the future.

RE: WFT's: Make the Case (S48) - Noble - 06-28-2019

For. Tampa Bay is an elite talented team with a ton of young guys on the come up that similar in style to the Toronto Maple Leafs of the NHL. This team will be absolutely dominant in a few seasons but could fall to similar problems as Toronto due to cap space potentially being sparse.

Agree! I believe it will be Manius who captures the scoring title as he has been super conssitent so far and has Visser as his linemate. It would be cool for him to be the first S43 to capture a scoring title. Although it would be awesome to see a Norwegian win the scoring race so go Anders, also!

For
The Tampa Bay Barracuda management has drafted really well over the past few seasons and have a very young team full with potential superstars. And there are more of them in their prospect pool still playing in the SMJHL. I'd say their future is bright.

RE: WFT's: Make the Case (S48) - Mac - 06-28-2019

It's become clear that the torch has officaly been passed to the S39 draft class as the dominant force in the SHL.

This one is rather humourous, the fact its even considered above Season 20, let alone Season 5, makes me question the intelligence of anyone arguing for this, no matter the amount of top end players it produces, it yet does not have legends.

AGAINST

The race is too tight and it is far too early to lock this up. The main issue, is that Tokolosh, is on the Colorado Raptors. A team that decided to hold an annual Toilet Bowl in season 47. They called it the Loser Bowl but that is the same difference. Unfortunately for Julio, it is his team that holds him back from being the Best Juniors Prospect in the World! Any and I mean any of his fellow Compadres, in the league, could be considered the Top!

The Hamilton Steelhawks who are currently leading the Eastern conference are a bigger surprise then the Winnipeg Jets who are currently leading the Western conference.

This is a tough one. To decide on this i looked again at Gordie's Strength Meter. Hamilton is 10th on the list with a rating of 10272 and Winnipeg is 8th with a rating of 10357. Based on that you would think Hamilton is a bigger surprise, however if we look closer at who each team played so far than it becomes less obvious. Hamilton played 15 games out of 23 against weaker teams on the strength meter, whereas Winnipeg played 13 games against weaker opponents. Also Winnipeg already played 8 games against the top 3 (Buffalo, New Orleans, Edmonton), compared to Hamilton who played 5 times against those teams. I would say this is a tie.

Minnesota's surprising 13-9 start is backed by the strongest *top line* in the SHL in Eric Pelletier, Bobby Watson and Terrance Nova.

For - Minnesota is being Minnesota again. A team in the middle of a rebuild that somehow still has a killer first line that leads the team to another conference final.

Code:
Following in Kelowna and St. Louis footsteps of repeating as champions, the Anaheim Outlaws, currently at the top of the SMJHL standings will win the Four Star Cup for the second season in a row.

For - The Outlaws have a great team and are still riding that cup high. There are also great rookies who bring the hunger to win another cup to the team. Nothing can stop them this season.

Code:
In this skilled rookie class, Chicago forward Kit Smeb will win the rookie of the year award.

BS! - And I'd bet my whole bank account on that. The reason for that is very simple: Kit has already played 50 regular season games for the Chicago Syndicate in S47 and therefore doesn't qualify as a rookie anymore.

Code:
After a change in management, the Lethbridge Lions will finish in the top 5 of the SMJHL standings.

For - Lethbridge doesn't have a bad team at all this season and with the right leadership, they can definitely finish in the top half of the standings.

I mean WKP traded me for a cup, I don't think that means they didn't want to structure their franchise around me.

Against.

There are tons of superstars in the making in their rookie season right now, and while we're halfway through the season, I believe rookies Borromini Cannellini or Matt Kholin might snatch the Jesster award by simply having significant more ice time than other rookies.

RE: WFT's: Make the Case (S48) - Kylrad - 06-28-2019

After a change in management, the Lethbridge Lions will finish in the top 5 of the SMJHL standings.

JNH kinda sucks, thankfully I make up for it greatly so it should be pretty easy to finish top 5 with Lethbridge, not that it matters since everyone makes the playoffs.
