Reflection on your season - how did your player fare on the ice this season? Did you meet or surpass your individual player goals or did you come up short? Whether you excelled or disappointed - what can you attribute that to? What will you try to do better next season? Abel Skinner did alright on the ice this season. The goal was to amp up his offense as he sees himself as an offensive defenseman in the mode of Paul Coffey. Management supports Abel’s goals and with some guidance as to where to put his training time, there was definitely some improvement in this regard. In S56 Skinner notched a 53 OGR and he bumped that 2 points to 55 in S57. At the same time, Skinner is realizing how much he can help the team by taking care of Seattle’s own end and he continued to work on his defense as well. Yet, his DGR did not budge from the prior year’s 66. This was a bit of a disappointment, but the defensive work did not come until later in the season, so it’s likely that his D will continue to improve in the coming season. I’m definitely back in the swing of things with strong, regular updates and my second year of updating. The key to Abel improving his on ice performance will be to just keep plugging along with this work without getting too impatient. (188 words) 3. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.) Over the offseason your player is getting involved in some charitable causes. What is your player/team doing around the community/for charity this offseason? Abel Skinner believes that it is important to serve both locally and outside your own community – to reach out far beyond one’s own to help those that are often considered “the other”. So, he spends a lot of time in food pantries all around the Seattle to help out those close to home. But he also speaks publicly on behalf of Hope School-Beit Jala located in Bethlehem, Palestine. Hope School is a Christian school providing quality education for those in Bethlehem and the surrounding communities. Many do not realize it, but Bethlehem is a mostly Arab town governed by the Palestine Authority. Many further do not realize that if you are a Christian living in Palestine or Israel, you are probably an Arab. Abel believes that children should not be pawns in a long-standing political struggle in one of the world’s “hotspots”, but should be given every opportunity through quality education regardless of which side of the border one lives. Many athletes have created OnlyFans accounts recently, including Bec Rawlings, Plaxico Burress, and Adi Spiegelman - if your SHL player created an account what premium content are fans around the world subscribing to see? It doesn't have to be sex stuff but it doesn't not have to be :o Would your player be successful on this platform? No graphic option for this one! Goodbye! Abel Skinner has just created an OnlyFans account and is happy to give a tease regarding the premium content available to subscribers. Not only will subscribers be able to download every game Skinner has ever played in – and not only restricted to the SHL, but including his time on the Cardiff Red Dragons – but they will get exclusive footage of him talking with friends at the pub, teaching Welsh in the evenings at Open University, playing COD online (which he is terrible at), and placing orders at GolfWarehouse.com. And that’s not all! There are also the juicier moments when the camera catches Abel writing home to his parents in the south valleys just north of Cardiff, attending church in the chapel in Caerphilly – without a tie (gasp) – and the most precious and daring moments yet recorded in Abel’s life. Of course, we are talking about the time when he disagreed with his girlfriend about the best directions to take to the restaurant suggested by a teammate. Catch the entire 42 seconds before Abel replied, “You’re right, hon. Better route.” How was this footage captured? We’re not telling! His 31 goals scored place him 2nd in the team, and 18th in the league, at the 3rd best shooting percentage amongst players with over 100 shots (17.13%). With a combined 51 points, Cal was involved in over 25% of all Minnesota Monarchs goals in their second season after the rebrand. He has definately been working on his defensive game as well, dragging his +/- rating up to an even zero, third best on the team. His GVA/TKA ratio, shot blocks and hits are all average at best, but that comes with the role he has on the ice. Cal has been showing himself on the special teams a bit more this season, playing to his strengths and tying for the team high of 8 PPG. His efforts landed him a three year extension of his contract, with fans and management looking forward to seeing more from our young Swiss hero. Code: 2. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.) I'd like to introduce the "penalty kill specialist", a niche player who is very useful at (you guessed it) killing off penalties. Diving in front shots, slowing down the game, clearing rebounds, this guy does it. Important attributes for the penalty kill specialist are: - Shot blocking: Because opponents will get a chance to shoot, and every save your goalie doesn't have to make helps. - Faceoffs: You want that defensive zone faceoff win to clear the zone as fast as possible and prevent teams from having puck control close to your net. - Stamina: You have to get up, and block another shot. You have to skate hard to close a gap. You just have to keep going and going. - Bravery: Block shots with every limb you have requires balls. Huge balls. The key stat would be defensive read. Being able to see the other teams play gives you a vital fraction of a second to respond and get where you have to be in time. Code: 3. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.) Cal Labovitch is tying his name and face to the Make a Wish foundation this offseason. He got the unexpected call from the foundations' director a few months ago, asking for his help. Apparantly there are legions of children in the St. Louis region who are dying to finally see a great hockey player, let alone meet one in person. Cal is always happy to help kids in need, so the children in St. Louis' hospitals can all expect the former Detroit Falcons Captain to pop in for a visit and show them what a real hockey player looks like. They'll get photo opportunities, their very own Cal Labovitch Detroit Falcons Hockey Jersey, and VIP tickets to the next St. Louis Scarecrows - Detroit Falcons game, where they'll get to wear their new jerseys to a real hockey game as the Crows get flattened by the visiting Falcons. Cal will also be providing TV's and digital receivers for all kids, so they can follow all the Falcons' home games live on television. Code: 5. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.) The best SHL or SMJHL team to not make the finals this season were the Detroit Falcons. While nobody expected them to win a whole lot this season, they rose up and grabbed a first round bye. They had to face the Vancouver Whalers in the first round of the playoffs. What followed was a series of very close games, with all but the second gamel decided with a one goal difference. The Falcons were once again struck with a case of terrible luck, as Simon fucked them over once more and let them get swept. Far less than they deserved, but I'm sure they'll be back stronger next season. Code: 15. CW TRIVIA, 3 TPE max - 1 TPE for participation, 0.5 TPE for each correct answer. Cal Labovitch has been the face of OnlyFans for quite some time now, since OnlyFans noticed he started an account and was actively posting and offered him a promo gig that made him the Face of OnlyFans. His content nowadays is mostly geared towards giving his fans and the general hockey public a look into the life of a professional hockey player. So it mostly consists of lockerroom pranks, clips of Cal and his team at practice, pre-game thoughts, post-game parties, hanging with the boys, lots of flexing of muscles and Cal playing SHL'21 on his Xbox. Biut that's just his free OnlyFans. Cal also operates a paid account, where everyone can get a look into the kink-filled nightly escapades of Cal and his puckbunnies for just $25 a week. He's currently contemplating a third account to show off his wicked karaoke skills, but so far his teammates have heavily discouraged him from practicing this particular skill. 16 TPE RE: S57 Championship Week - bbp - 01-25-2021 1. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.) Reflection on your season - how did your player fare on the ice this season? Did you meet or surpass your individual player goals or did you come up short? Whether you excelled or disappointed - what can you attribute that to? What will you try to do better next season? In terms of regular season I woefully under performed. I failed to meet any of my objectives offensively and managed to have pitiful results when I dropped the gloves. The highlight of my regular season was managing to record over 200 hits which is quite impressive given my limited role. What was truly disappointing was that after my move to Anaheim I was given more opportunity than in Newfoundland but I was dreadful. All that being said my player overachieved in the playoffs which erases any ill feelings I had towards S57 as a whole. I managed to score 9 playoff goals while being a force defensively and winning 4 our of my 5 fights. These are the numbers I dreamed of putting up. Now what makes this most interesting is that my minutes did not really change… but my position did. I was being played at center and now I want to focus my development on becoming a strong center option at the next level, hopefully this will let me be a more valuable member of my new team in the regular season. Words: 184 2. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.) Create a new skater or goalie role for FHM. In what scenarios is this new player role best utilized? What attributes are considered important attributes to this new role, and why? Which attribute is the key one? My new player would be a play making goaltender. The key attribute would be passing but I’d strongly be an advocate of pursuing poke check and everything related to skating. This build would be based around producing offensive chances for the team. I would generate turnovers via poke check while also recover loose pucks or dump ins. With the puck on my stick I would try to lead the breakout with strong passing. Yes this is a very nontraditional role for a goalie to play but I believe with the right defensive scheme and strong enough skating… a goalie would be able to retrieve pucks shattering dump and chase tactics. It would require defensemen who could hold players up at the blue line to force those dump ins and forwards who are good at finding open ice to provide quick outlet options for the goalie. Words: 145 3. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.) Over the offseason your player is getting involved in some charitable causes. What is your player/team doing around the community/for charity this offseason? My player will become involved in the Italian cultural scene. Specifically I would encourage Italian language classes and Italian cooking classes at our local Italian Cultural center. It is important to preserve our cultural tradition and over the years these kind of centers have fallen by the way side. People tend to lump all Europeans together now a days given the sheer variety of immigrants coming into Canada and the United States. Often we are treated almost as if we are not immigrants our selves because we come from a western country. However we have strong and unique cultures throughout Italy and I believe they should be preserved and celebrated. My role will be to bring publicity to the events at our local cultural center and hope to get second or third generation immigrants to come in and reconnect with their homeland. At the same time being a welcoming place for new Italian immigrants to hear familiar sounds and smell familiar smells. Words: 161 5. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.) Which SHL or SMJHL team was the best team to not make the finals this season and why? The Newfoundland Berzerkers had an amazing playoff run and after back to back finals appearances the previous two seasons they were obviously the best team not to be in the finals. This recent history not only proves that they are one of the best SMJHL teams but shows they have the grit to make it all the way. To win the SMJHL championship any team should have had to beat Newfoundland themselves to have it be legitimate. Also as an ex-Berzerker myself I wish Anaheim could have gone head to head with them in the finals so I could punch in the faces of a few old teammates. Words: 108 6. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.) What's your prediction for this season's IIHF tournament? Which teams do you expect to do well (or not well)? Which players? The IIHF tournament is a difficult one to predict. Sure many of these players come together to play season in and season out for this tourny but the entire year they are with not only different players but entirely different coaches. This system change is as important as the fact they are playing with new players. This in my opinion means that leading scorers from the regular season will not repeat in the IIHF… look for Canada and the United States to dominate given their depth but in terms of individual players I’d say you need to look to the smaller teams… perhaps a player no one would expect from team Austria will come to the forefront and put up tremendous numbers because they normally are not afforded the positions and minutes on their normal SHL side! That being said I do not believe any individual performance from Austria will be enough and they will finish last. 7. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.) SHL-NHL comparisons. With the NHL season kicking off again, what are some team or player comparisons between SHL and NHL? Pick one (or more) comparison(s) and explain why it works (e.g., Monkey D Luffy is the Connor McDavid of the SHL because xyz, or the Chicago Syndiacte are the Nashville Predators of the SHL because xyz, or nour is the Gary Bettman of the SHL because xyz). When it comes to teams The Texas Renegades are the Philadelphia Flyers. They have had success in the middle of their time with numerous championships and strong teams, this coincided with a rough reputation which can only be matched by the Broad Street Bullies. I think this is the easiest comparison to make. Otherwise the Hamilton Steelhawks have to be the Detroit Redwings of the past 25 years. Sure the Redwings are in a slump now but they were the definition of classy strong organization year in and year out for most of our lifetime, just as the Steelhawks have been. Finally in terms of players I look at myself Niccolo Livius and say that there is currently no player in the NHL that I can compare myself. I’m a relic of a bygone age more of a warrior on skates than a hockey player… that being said I guess it has to be Nicholas Deslauriers given his fighting numbers but I’m not as strong a skater plus more defensively reliable than him. Vorian was over 1600 tpe this season, so you would expect that he would finally have evolved into a point per game player, but even as the forward with the highest icetime, he never got even close to that. On the powerplay (or even the penalty kill) he got a total of three! points this year. Only three? You would expect way better from a player of his calibre. This lousy performance really makes me reconsider my time in the SHL again, as it just takes so long to build a decent player, especially if you see you are not doing jack shit at this tpe level. For next year, it sure will be better, I dont believe it anymore, but my managers said it would be better again next year. I just will have to believe them, I love Los Angeles and won't leave unless im traded, but I hope my performance increases eventually. Task 2 - 2 TPE - Enforcer goalie should be the new role in the sim. When injuries are finally a thing we will need an enforcer goalie added. One that doesn’t shy away from hitting his opponent with a stick in his legs or head. Important attributes for this will be speed and acceleration (as you need to make sure your opponents wont get away), strength, as you will need to make sure that if you hit your opponents, that you hit them hard enough to hurt them. Stamina (as you dont want to run out of breath while smashing his face in). Goalie attributes are less important, as you can also do this as a backup from the bench and just drag some people over the boarding and start hitting then. Task 5 - 2 TPE - The Los Angeles Panthers are once again the best team to not make the finals? And you know why? As they just had deserved it. We should not have lost versus Winnipeg. Would have beaten Edmonton just like Winnipeg did. But we would have pushed Hamilton into game 7 and stole it from right under their faces. Then in the finals, Chicago awaited and we will just bribe the Syndicate into losing. This should have made the Los Angeles Panthers the righty winners of the cup again, something that is long overdue by now. With players like Winter , Sloth, Wagner and Atreides up front, what could go wrong? Rhys Pritchard had a great 3rd season in the league. He set career highs (even considering the increase in games played) in goals per game, assists per game, and points per game. Rhys also had a positive +/- for the first time in his career at +10 and he had a career low in penalty minutes even with the 16 extra games with 12. Rhys was also more efficient in his work on the 2nd powerplay unit, where he doubled his powerplay points scored from 3 to 6 while playing about the same amount of time on the powerplay as the previous season. Impressively, while he was decreasing his time in the box, he was increasing his physical play. Rhys set a new career high of 117 hits but also took less penalties in the process. Clearly Rhys is getting better at playing physically while keeping his game clean. One area that can still be improved is his giveaway/takeaway ratio. Last season Rhys gave away the puck just 24 times while producing 22 takeaways. This season he had 31 giveaways against the same 22 giveaways. This offseason, Rhys will be looking to improve his puck possession abilities. Code: 3. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.) Rhys has a passion for helping those in less fortunate circumstances as himself. As a professional hockey player he knows that group includes a lot of people. This offseason, Rhys has started a charity called ‘Pritching in’ where he organizes and stocks shelters for those who have no where else to go or are in difficult circumstances. ‘Pritching in’ looks for cheap real estate to rehab and refurbish to make lodging and or food kitchens to help with Toronto’s homeless and underserved population. In addition to providing for the physical needs, Pritching In has plans to develop curriculum to help people with financial planning, career and resume building, as well as nutrition and wellness planning. More than anything, Rhys wants to help empower the people of Toronto to better their circumstances however they can. Donating his time and resources is the least he can do to repay the city of Toronto for all of the support that they’ve shown him. Code: 4. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.) I’m not really interested in writing about Buffalo, so I’ll go with the Edmonton Blizzard. Edmonton has a fantastic collection of talent in the Western Conference. Players like Julio Tokolosh, Tony Pepperoni and Jon Forty-One highlight one of the most stacked rosters in the SHL. In addition to the players mentioned, the Blizzard also had Barrett Blackwood and Jean-Paul Boivin finish the season over 1 point per game. Five players in that category is certainly impressive. They also have a loaded defensive core highlighted by FR Finn-Rhys, Karlstrasse Sholz. In fact, looking at this list, it’s a wonder that they aren’t even better than they were at the top of the West. I look for this team to continue to dominate the West for the next few seasons. Code: 15. CW TRIVIA, 3 TPE max - 1 TPE for participation, 0.5 TPE for each correct answer. Pritchard is proud of his Welsh heritage and loves to prepare traditional Welsh dishes like lamb cawl, laverbread, rarebit, Welsh cakes, and leek soup. However, as a professional athlete, Rhys knows he can’t eat those kinds of things all the time, so his show would also feature plenty of other dishes with lots of greens and lean proteins. RE: S57 Championship Week - Ragnar - 01-25-2021 TASK 1 (3 TPE): Chimkin Tendy’s season went incredible. He was the best goalie in the regular season and the best goalie in the playoffs, eventually winning a Four Star Cup with the Anchorage Armada. Luckily for him, he had an amazing team in front of him who produced what seemed like forty shots every single game in order to shield him from too much work. Even if he let in three or four goals, his team would score six or seven, so it was often times no big deal. I am actually 100 percent satisfied with how this season went, and that’s probably a first for my in all my time in the SHL. Though I know if it weren’t for the stout defense and the stellar offense of the Armada, Chimkin Tendy would be toward the bottom of the league in his stats. It’s a team victory obviously and Tendy can’t take all the credit for his performance. TASK 3 (3 TPE): Tendy is still participating in his Chimkin Tendy Tyson’s Chicken For The Needy Cause. It is a non-profit organization started by Tendy, sponsored by Tyson’s Chicken who donates one chicken tender to a homeless shelter for every save Tendy makes. There were over a thousand chicken tenders donated this season. Additionally, Tendy visits the homeless shelters and volunteers time at the soup kitchens, which have been renamed chicken tendy kitchens, for obvious reasons. On top of that, Tendy is heavily involved in the Humane Society and all things animals in order to give them a better life and find them forever homes. He sponsors and houses all types of animals at his ranch in Anchorage until a fitting and loving forever home is found for them. He has around 150 acres of land in order to give every animal from mice to horses a wonderful temporary haven of safety and love until a home is found. Quebec was the complete team and was incredible from the top down, with no real obvious weaknesses anywhere in their roster. It was an incredible feat that we pulled off by beating them, and I don’t blame them if they feel they were robbed by the sim to be honest. He does special requests like pictures of his feet straight out of the shower, after a long triple overtime game, and even his feet covered in weird Serbian food. Someone once requested his toe nail clippings in the mail, which he happily obliged for the low price of $500. His username on the website is “xXx_Giant_Hairy_Feet420_xXx” and he’ll even shoot you a video of him pulling his socks off when you sign up. It’s disgustingly disturbing if I’m being honest. His parents don’t know about this thing he’s got going and they’d be deeply disappointed so PLEASE DON’T TELL THEM. This season was one of Mika’s best seasons since he played wing on a line with Mikhail Lokitonov in his early career. Mika scored 61 points in 66 games while being the best defensive forward for his team. He also scored 5 game winning goals for Toronto this year, so he was definitely out there doing everything that he could to help his team win this year. Toronto had a much better season this year and were in the playoff hunt. This is the kind of improvement Mika has been wanting to see so it’s nice to see it starting to come to fruition as he hits the prime of his career. Mika continued his strong play and stepped it up a notch from previous seasons, so I think he’s truly a force to be reckoned with in this league on both ends of the ice. I want Russia to finally make a big showing and take that next step, especially with Mika Kandinsky in the prime of his career right now, but with the other teams being so strong, it is going to be hard for Russia to compete for a medal position as the team just doesn’t have the kind of depth the other top contenders have currently. Playing with Jarmo Kekalainen and Juni Panda, I was able to get 19 goals, 43 assists for a total of 62 points. Not only did I lead the Raptors in points I also lead the league in assists and was 2nd in points. My playmaking style also helped me get 29 points on the powerplay which lead the league. With the Colorardo Raptors we was able to finish 1st in our division with 33 wins and 72 points. This gave us a bye in the 1st round of the playoffs where we then faced divisional rivals the Anaheim Outlaws. Unfortunatly we came up short and lost in 6 games. I personally didnt have a great playoffs with only 1 goal and 1 assists in the 6 games. A massive 15 points above second place finishers Anchorage. They also massively out scored everyone with 264 goals scored and a 103 goals difference. Citadelles forward Zdenko Beranek was the league top goal scorer and points scorer with Stan Q Next coming second in assists. Their goalie Mat Smith finished 2nd in wins with 31 and had a save percentage of .920. Qubecc got knocked out the playoffs in the semi finals by Anchorage. Playing my first full season as Los Angeles' first line center I was able to have the best season of my career putting up 87 points in 66 games and tying for second place in the league in points. Although I wasn't first in points and was tied for second, I think the other players benefitted a bit more from their division/teams around them so I am very proud of my season. I was able to score over 30 goals and get over 100 hits which were both goals of mine. I think my success can be attributed to both how our coaches deployed the team as well as the great teammates around me. They put me in a spot to succeed so I really can't thank them enough for helping me get the best season of my career even a few seasons into regression. Hopefully I can stay at this level next season and we can push a bit deeper into the playoffs because team success is what's really important. (190 Words) 3. Code: 15. I am creating a new goalie role called "The Door Opener" and the main function of this goalie archetype is to serve as a backup and open the doors on the bench so that players can get in and out of the bench. This player role would best be utilized as a backup goalie that preferably wouldn't see any ice time. Luckily for these goalies they only need to specialize in the positioning, reflexes, and mental toughness attributes. They can ignore all the other ones and get to the SHL very quickly! The positioning would teach the goalie to be near the door to open it. The reflexes would let the goalie react quickly when someone needed to use the door. And mental toughness would make sure the goalie wouldn't get distracted and not open the door when needed. This is a key position! (144 words) 5. Code: 6. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.) I think I am going to stick with my usual predictions with Canada winning gold because they are the big powerhouse, Great Britain getting silver because we are just the best, and I'll give Czechia the bronze because the USA always seems to blow it when it comes to the medal rounds. These teams should all have pretty strong rosters again so I do not think much will change in the standings. I'm sure the people who did pretty well in the SHL main season will carry over to the IIHF scoring as well. Hopefully my guy Jimmy Slothface keeps up his hot play and can do well in IIHF, I know that I put me down for the top scorer in my predictions so it would be nice to earn some tpe. Other than that I'm sure Scarn and Luffy are going to be great in IIHF. I think Luffy usually does pretty well and Japan had a bit of a down tournament last time, so maybe they'll get some luck and he'll go nuts in IIHF. There probably won't be too many surprises because of FHM but it would be fun if something got shook up. (198 words) 6. Code: 5. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.) The best team to not make the finals in the SHL was of course the Los Angeles Panthers because that is the team I am on! Any team with Jimmy Slothface is automatically going to be the best team even if they don't make it to the finals. Why? I am not sure I don't make the rules but that's the case. We have some great coaches and management in Los Angeles who are always trying improve our roster and in game tactics, so I have a high opinion of the franchise even if others do not think we belong at the top. I think we'll surprise some people in a few seasons here though. Our roster is only going to get stronger! Reflection on your season - how did your player fare on the ice this season? Did you meet or surpass your individual player goals or did you come up short? Whether you excelled or disappointed - what can you attribute that to? What will you try to do better next season? My player Esa Parmborg had an excellent season personally but didn't reach the ultimate goal of winning the challenge cup so overall was not the season I hoped for, but I did continue to be one of the top players in the league. A new career high of 78 points was good for top 10 in league scoring and I was tied for 2nd most assists in the league at 54. I set career marks in goals at 24 along with the assists. It was a great season for Parmborg statistically and I'd say I reached me personal goals in that area. As for what I would attrtibute the success to I'd have to say hard work and dedication to improving my game in the right areas along with my great linemates Maxime Bouchard and Joseph Weston. We've been one of the top lines in the league for 2 seasons now so things are clicking nicely. Next season I'll try to continue the same dominant play stats-wise but end with a challenge cup. Everyone can bring in their canned goods and non-perishables and meet the Dragons players at a local event. We're holding a week long food drive with players at the 3 locations around the city everyday. We'll be releasing a list of what players are at each locations on what days so fans can meet their favorite dragons while helping to feed the less fortunate members of the Calgary community. All food donated will go to families in need in and around the Calgary area. The Dragons will also be donating clothes and household items to these families as well as free tickets and food vouchers for Calgary home games during the S58 season. Do you think either team has an advantage in this series or do you see it as a true toss up? I think this match up is very close, both teams have high end talent across the board and can win it. Hamilton has done it before and Chicago has been pressing hard to get here. I think the advantage in this one goes to Chicago based on sheer will to win, they want it bad and will pull out all the stops to get it done. Hamilton has won 2 cups in FHM already so they could become complacent figuring if they win great if not no big deal they've won a lot recently. Code: 15. CW TRIVIA, 3 TPE max - Submitted. Finished top 25 in points which isn't even enough to make the 3rd all-star team. The good thing about this season over last season, however, is that last season I was on the cusp of making an all-star team and so even though I didn't, I got specifically listed as having 0 all-star votes. This season, since I performed so much worse relatively, I won't even get listed as having the potential of making the team, so I'll still get 0 all star votes, but I won't be listed as having 0 all star votes, it's just gonna be assumed that I got 0 votes. Hopefully next season I'm still on Hamilton and I get more points. I really want to stay on the team next season so I'm praying I don't get traded. If I do get traded, next season will likely be worse than this season. 5. (2 TPE) I'm not sure if Winnipeg themselves are good, but their goalie sure is. I'm writing this just after game 1 of the Finals, and we dummied Chicago, scoring 6 goals. Winnipeg's Strom Chamberlain was so good in our series, stopping shot after shot, letting in at most? what 2 goals per game? I was expecting us to sweep Winnipeg, but their goalie kept it close, winning 2 more games than I thought they would. According to the SHN he is also a potential Razov nominee? Hopefully he isn't though, because I'm trying to win that award, but maybe he will. But hopefully he doesn't. 6. (3 TPE) Historically since the switch to FHM, Canada has exceeded, with us winning two golds and 1 bronze medal in the past 3 seasons. This is great. I fully expect Canada to win another gold this season, and if not gold, we will medal for sure without a doubt. The only problem is, although Canada has done exceedingly well since the switch, I, myself, have done terribly. Two seasons in a row, I have spent the majority of the round robin levels shooting below 5%. That is abysmal for a first liner to not be helping out the team at all. This time, I've bet on myself being the round robin goal leader, and hopefully the engine has my back and rewards me. Considering the other countries that do well, I have to think the others to medal will be GB and USA. Ideally Great Britain will get silver, and USA get bronze, just because that's how I've completed my predictions and I'd love to get some extra TPE. Individual players to do well? Bilbo. 13. (2 TPE) Congrats to Hamilton for winning. Nobody saw it coming, but here I am writing this paragraph after only game 1. Cannot wait for this to come back and haunt me. As for series MVP, regardless of what the stats actually end up saying, I must congratulate myself. I'm trying really hard to win a Razov, and I worry that two seasons in a row, I'm gonna be snubbed. After game 1, I've scored two more goals in total than Scarn has, and according to the SHN in order to win, I have to increase that gap to about 3-5 goals, so hopefully the engine goes off in my favour and I just go god mode on these hoes and win the Razov. 15. I feel this season was still a mild disappointment for Nick on an individual level, as he could've achieved more during a great season for the Winnipeg Jets, and Nick Brain was checked out of the playoffs to an extent by LA and Hamilton, getting only 12 points in 18 playoff games (although his overall play was pretty good). 75 or 80 points could have been possible in the regular season. However, Nick might be in contention for a Dar Award, so its not a total loss? What Nick will try to do better next season isn't clear, as hes starting to enter his decline period. Nick's getting to be a slower skater gradually, and that could inhibit play of both ends of the ice even if his techniques there remain solid. Hopefully Nick just steps things up and gets more inaccurate shots inside the post and more opportunities from his linemates. --- Quote:3. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.) Nick Brain is teaming with Southside High School sports alumni and close friends Gerald Eddy and Saleem Spence to do some charity work for the Winnipeg school. Gerald Eddy is a retired journeyman guard in the SBA, who now works as a phys ed teacher and basketball coach in Southside High. Saleem Spence is an aspiring professional football wide receiver who graduated from Southside High 3 years ago after setting all kinds of records, currently playing for the DSFL's Portland Pythons, and together the three aim to raise money to upgrading failing infrastructure within the school, fund counselling for anti-bullying initiatives, upgrade food quality in the cafeteria for student health and improve the sports team quality of the already high-level high school. Nick is also perpetually involved with other charities such as the Save The Enforcers Foundation, Kick Cancer's Ass, and the Cheapen Textbooks Creed, all of which are high quality initiatives that aim to improve quality of life in the world. Significant chunks of Nick Brain's SHL salary and media endorsement bucks are tied up in these endeavors. --- Quote:5. Written, 2 TPE (100 words min.) Buffalo is clearly the best SHL team to not make the finals. They were not better than Chicago in the regular season, but they were the 3rd best team in the league, especially towards the end due to the Blizzard's cap troubles. Luffy and Sharp were killing it all year long, Doyle had a .926 save percentage in 53 starts with 6 shutouts. Blueline wasn't as strong as year's past, but is still a professional blueline. Quebec City was the best team in the SMJHL, but got victimized by being put against Anchorage in the semis for reasons that were never adequately explained. Quebec nearly won 50 games, and had high-level performers in Zdenko Beranek and Jst Maro, and a capable goalie in Mat Smith. Had it not been for stoopid playoff stuff they would've gone all the way probably. --- Quote:6. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.) As always I predict Great Britain / United Kingdom to win cause my boy Nick Brain represents the nation. Plus Great Britain still has a good team with lots of players from the gold medal winning side a couple years back, backed by a quality goaltender in "Lucky" Luca Del Vecchio. Realistically though, Canada and the United States have more forward and blueline depth, and are still the teams to beat in IIHF play. Being able to roll out a 4th line thats 2nd line quality in the SHL is beyond huge and a big difference for those teams. Of course you have the outside contenders like the Czechs, the Swedes, and the Japanese with decent enough rosters to cause an upset in a one-game setting. As for best players, it'll be the usual suspects from the Tier II teams like Michael Scarn, Daniel Smeb, and Ola Wagstrom. The Top tier teams have too much shared wealth for anyone to really stand out in a short tournament. --- Quote:12. Written, up to 4 TPE - Pick up to 4 Challenge Cup related topics to write about! Chicago has top-end talent to be sure, but I suspect it'll be cancelled out by Hamilton's top-end talent. Tactically, I feel like Chicago's underachieved a bit over the recent years with what they've had, and of course we know Hamilton's backend guys have got this sim on lockdown. c) Chicago Syndicate and it isn't even close. Hamilton's branding is sorta bland color-wise, and I feel like the team should use some gun metal grey or something and maybe force Texas to switch off to a different color scheme idk. Chicago's logo got a bit worse, but they've still got good branding and a good team name paying a little sly tribute to the mafia ties the city has infamously had. d) Lap dances aren't my thing really, I find it awkward to make eye contact with people so Atmey's out, reaching for high objects on shelves is manual labor and not fun. Even though League of Legends sucks, I guess playing a game with Parker Smeb is much better than any of the alternatives. --- Quote:15.
