Option 1:

Beck does not seek out the sponsorships, the sponsorships seek out him. Everyone in Winnipeg knows him, so it is the goal of the local business to get Beck to sponsor their product or service. The nationwide sponsors come, sure, but it's the little guys that are at odds with each other fighting over his time. In order to remedy this, a few years ago they set up a sponsorship bank where anyone wishing for Beck to sponsor their business would put their card in a bucket. Cards (businesses) were then randomly assigned by a computer each season. Each random number was then assigned to a square yard on the ice. With new tracking tech, the business block with the most time Beck was in their square during the season would get the top sponsorships. The top 5 businesses won and the rest would have to retry for next year.

Finnegan isn't a big social media presence, but his agent has requested multiple times to start looking for sponsorship possibilities. Leo focuses his energy purely on hockey, every minute of the day he is trying to improve to be considered the best defenseman. Although, he recognizes the importance of creating multiple revenue streams so perhaps in the future he'd like to sign on with a company he believed in or liked. Leo likes to wear some brand name clothes from time to time, so a brand like Fear of God or Nike or Patagonia he'd jump at the opportunity to get some free clothing if he had to sign on to be a sponsor. He knows he will have to work harder first to become the type of player who creates generational wealth from his athletic career. Leo would probably hire an agent who could help him with finding sponsorships and handling the sponsorship deals once they're offered.

Oliver Cornwall grew up scrimping for money, with a family who had to do anything they could to put food on the table. Since he arrived in the SMJHL, he has retained that grinding attitude in trying to put together enough wealth so his family never has to worry about it again. As such, he works hard to find endorsements and sponsorship deals as they come, and he ain’t afraid of being deemed a corporate shill. While some players like @Popol don’t understand the grinding mindset, Oliver knows that his family comes first and sometimes you’ve gotta get into bed with unsavoury folks to have a nice lifestyle. Oliver’s most recent deal revolves around his new water bottle brand, which commemorates one of his early victory over the champion of the scarecrows, a horrific figure in orange, black and red. The taxi theft is prominently positioned on the bottle, and Oliver loves seeing his name under it to memorialize his triumph.

Here's the thing, the Hockey advertising market is already just so incredibly niche and hard to market to as a whole. You got sports fans, people up north, it's not as popular as other sports - so we spend about 2.1 Trillion yearly (the US does) in defense budgeting....what if I managed to only take a fraction of a portion of that in sponsorship money? Defense companies. Get me a slick ole' Northrupp Grumman patch on my helmet, put a General Electric sticker on my stick, take the logo of every armed force and put it on my shoulders for all I care. If I can even just get a portion of that money I would be wealthiest beyond my wildest dreams. Who cares if it's just my morals at stake, right? In all seriousness, it would also introduce a lot of money to the rest of the league for advertising and other operational costs, we would just have to become military propaganda machines. Win-win.

Ville Sato-Maki doesn't actively seek out brand deals, but of course with his great play in Vancouver, a few local brands have reached out to see if he could work on a promotion with them. Sato-Maki doesn't usually seek out brand deals because he likes to focus on his play on-ice and enjoy his free time, but one of the brand deals that he can't turn down is a good local restaurant chain. From Japanese food to Greek, as long as it's a good mom and pop shop that sells food at a reasonable price, you know Ville would be more than happy to help them out through a simple brand deal or endorsement on his social media. The crazy ones are definitely the ones in which the restaurants try to recreate his likeness in food which never turns out that great, but they can get the look of the moomin decently well!

Jett Labyrinth has had a few sponsorship opportunities so far in his young career. Jett actively seeks these deals out as he needs the money to fund his spending addiction, and a rookie contract is simply not enough to cut it. In Newfoundland, he has had the opportunity to appear in commercials for a local hockey equipment store, a chocolate company and a used car dealership. Not only do these commercials give Jett much needed cash, it also gives him an opportunity to show off his acting chops. His agent is already in talks with companies in Winnipeg who are ready to hand off some sponsorship deals to the city’s recent 1st round pick once the time is ready. Jett is pretty open to everything overall, he would only not do a deal if the company's values don’t line up with his. Jett’s next big sponsor he’s after is a major fashion company so he can add free clothing to his collection, but that might take him being a star in the SHL to get that.

Celeste is a good hometown kid, so they're happy to do any sponsorships or endorsements for the great state of Maine and maybe even New England at large, if you're really nice. But the one they're really chasing is that sweet sweet Moxie sponsorship deal. It's not hockey related. It's not even going to be lucrative. It's an extremely regional soda, for God's sake. But it is also their favorite drink, and one that they're often foisting onto their friends and teammates even though they're pretty sure no one else involved is going to like it. After all, it's pretty often said that you need to try Moxie before you're ten to ever really like it, and maybe even actually younger than that. So doing Maine tourism is great, a hockey gear company or small local merch boutique is fantastic! But please, God, they want to do a Moxie sponsorship. They want the perks of the sponsorship purely in having the soda provided to them, because maybe then they can get it shipped to them instead of having to roadtrip home to Lewiston every time they have a free weekend to come back to NYC with their car laden with twelve-packs of the stuff. Please. It'd be so cool. They're begging.

Prompt 1

Julian Flörsch doesn't really care about advertising or sponsorship deals. Sure, the money's good. But it's not like he'll actively try to find as many and lucrative deals as possible. And if a brand really wants him to be their face (or other body parts), money alone isn't going to convince Julian. In order for him to say yes to a sponsorship deal, the party looking for Julian to promote them is going to have to fit his standards and ethics. So no shady energy drinks, shitty low value retail chains, or redneck clothing brands. Julian would rather be the face of a charity supporting goals he believes him for a low or even no fee than get millions he doesn't need anyway to promote deer hunting rifles or whatever the newest hype is. Money already rules too much of this world, and Julian wants no part of that.

Prompt 1:

Cristoforo used to take pretty much any sponsorship deal that comes his way as long as the money was right. He sold out for everything, from used car dealerships and crypto bros to high end hockey equipment and dog food. Most of the stuff he stopped using after the sponsorship period ends, but he did get hooked on sports gambling for a long time. He ended up losing a lot of money, almost got in trouble with the league, and alienated many friends and teammates because of it. Eventually, people who were looking out for Cristoforo were able to help him break free from the addiction, but some of the damage was irreversible. Today, Cristoforo only takes sponsorships from companies with products or services he'd actually use, and researches the company beforehand to try and make sure the stuff he's promoting isn't harmful. He's also had to go to court for advocating against the sports gambling app he once used, since that very much went against his contract, but he has no plans of stopping speaking out.

Graphic Option 1: Draw your player in a sponsorship advertisement! Bonus points for creative advertisement brands! (Disclaimer: There will be no actual bonus points :c But the graders would love to see creative brands!)

Jennifer is always getting sponsorship opportunities due to being a hockey player as well as being an idol, which can lead to some fun brand crossover opportunities. For example, she will get sponsorships for clothing brands that she wears onstage as an idol, but can’t wear on the ice, so she will wear their clothes into the arena. The tougher piece is trying to roll her hockey sponsorships into her idol career. For example, her hockey manufacturer sponsor is Warrior, and since they only make sports equipment it’s hard for her to cross that into her idol career. She’s pitched a hockey themed kpop song for Le Sserafim but so far no luck. But with her hockey sponsorship opportunities being more limited just due to the nature of hockey sponsorships, most of her brand money comes from the idol side, between alcohol brands, clothing, food, and everything else under the sun, she is using her other career to fulfill her sponsorship needs.

After leading the league last season and being honoured with a couple of the league awards there has been a high demand and calls coming from everywhere to try and convince Cale to endorse their products! Of course, the obvious ones from the sports drinks and hockey gear. It was all the other non traditional ones that really caught his eye this go around though. A few Grocery stores asked is Cale would endorse their organic and in house produce mainly their salads! That’s right you heard it Cale is the new face of Kale pre made salads by presidents choice brands in Canada! It didn’t just stop there though he was the face of Honey Nut Cheerios! A delicious and healthy breakfast option! There are some others in the works as well though potentially being on the wrapper for Vector bars and their cereal! Needless to say when you win the MVP of the league you need to capitalize on the endorsements when you are hot!

Robo Sven has been trying to be the spokesperson for body augmentation ever since he had his mechanical procedure done. It took a while, but the sponsorship opportunities have finally been starting to flow in and he's been doing everything from prosthetics to mechanical augmentation. He's not putting any limiters on it either, as he's pushing for more and more cerebral augmentations. If you look at his stat line from the last couple of seasons, he's been doing just fine analyzing the game and making sure his teammates see success on the ice, but one thing that's stuck from his previous run through the league is that he still can't hit the broad side of a barn with his shot. He knows that once brain chips progress a little more he can actually score some goals, and isn't that what everyone wants? Surely it would help him add a few more trophies to the trophy case.

Dan isn't picky when it comes to his equipment, if it does its job, he doesn't care the make or style. Dan is a simple man who likes doing his job so the fact the he gets his equipment for free from his team is an added perk that he is more than excited to receive. He was always taught to be grateful and not to bite the hand that feeds him. Now with that being said, as long as he isn't wearing his fathers hand me downs like he did in junior he will be excited. The equipment has come a long way since his father laced up the skates last and Dan appreciates not having to tape phone books into his shin guards al la Craig Ludwig to get the job done anymore. Dan likes the idea that he can go out and lay it all on the line and face minimal in the ways of chance of injury while doing it.
