RE: S79 PT #1: All Of The Lights - Lumosityfan - 10-17-2024 So…. Yeah unfortunately Incorporated did not incorporate good sense into his judgment last night and decided to slack off hard in practice. The coach is obviously not very happy and decides to give as punishment replacing all the lightbulbs in the stadium one by one. No using any of that machine bullcrap; hand-picking one at a time. Which doesn’t excite Incorporated at all but he figured yeah well he messed up on this one and he decides to try to get back some good faith with the coach by doing the task at hand. However he sabotages by looking like he twists the right way for half of them but in reality he did not do so completely, making the lights 75% full. (How in the world this is possible who knows physics is incredible) So the result is that there are different shades of lighting for the entire stadium and the coach is not happy to see this at all and the player is like screw it let’s just finish it to get this over with and manages to finish the task without any fighting occurring… so yay I guess. RE: S79 PT #1: All Of The Lights - ShadowFenix - 10-17-2024 Written Option 2 Shadow Fenix loves being in the spotlight of the media. They always come to him with the craziest stories, and Fenix loves to stoke the flames of drama. It's a good way for Fenix to make money, and since he refuses to get a second job (apart from hockey) helping out the league by being an intern or GM, he has to help out the media with their articles. As for the marketing campaign part of things, Fenix is proud to be a Seattle Argonaut, and such, he tries his best to flash a toothy grin when they have team media day. The Media loves him for this, and he loves the media for not asking questions about hockey, but sticking to deep dives about the underground money laundering scheme in the SHL, and other rampant topics of discussion. Of course, Fenix also likes the media addressing him because if there were any allegations that he were apart of the money laundering, god forbid, he would be able to shut down the rumors before they even begin. RE: S79 PT #1: All Of The Lights - Urq660 - 10-17-2024 Written Option 2: Inge Baardsen isn’t very likely to be at the forefront of the Baltimore Platoon’s promotional material. Very much a 3rd line role player, he’s never going to be too much in the spotlight. Especially with legitimate star players , like Valieva or Erik Bergmark, and Platoon legends like his current line mate M’Baku Olubori. They will always be front and centre. Baardsen does what he does on the ice, he slips on where needed, provides the support when calls upon. He might show up occasionally on one of those ads where you have like 3 players in an action shot, or where you have 5 or 6 guys posing with their sticks. But he is highly unlikely to be leading any ads himself, at least not until he’s a more established player with the team and in the league. This is only his second season in the SHL remember! He was well liked in Regina, during his time in the J there, hopefully that can translate to Baltimore! RE: S79 PT #1: All Of The Lights - hhh81 - 10-17-2024 Prompt 2 M'Baku Olubori does not mind the media (and the media loves him). He’s fond of dropping snippets that make for good quotes, and is unafraid to speak his mind. While other players have earned their place of more prominence (most notably Erik Bergmark) in marketing campaigns for Baltimore, Baku is never far. Even as he ages and his role changes for the team, you can expect his big smile and commitment to the Baltimore community to keep him in the mix. While some players might leverage their media appearances to lock in sponsorship deals, Baku has never worried about that. He stays his authentic self whenever and however he can, which still naturally draws the right people and opportunities his way. The fans love him (though a vocal minority have issues with him for some reason they can’t articulate). After it was announced that Ekaterina Valieva would no longer wear a letter for the team, some have even begun chanting “captain” when Baku touches the puck during home games. He’s never worn a letter for the Platoon, but it doesn’t appear that bothers him much. His focus is the team and winning (and making racists mad, of course). RE: S79 PT #1: All Of The Lights - TonyW19 - 10-17-2024 Ryland Murphy took his sweet time getting to Chicago after being traded by Calgary, and the GM's were not amused. He finally arrives but looks nothing like the Ryland Murphy from his junior days, and his first couple seasons in Calgary. It's suspected that he spent all of the offseason pounding donuts and chugging chocolate milk. The GM's literally throw him into a chair inside of their office for a much needed heart-to-heart conversation. They make it clear to Ryland that this could very well be the end of the road for him and that he needs to get his crap together. They drive the message home by stating that he must adopt a better work ethic, and that he has no choice but to not only change out every single light bulb in the stadium with LED lights, but also scrub each of the restrooms in the facility with a toothbrush that has nearly lost all of its bristles. She never drew similar crowds (even on her best days) back in Romania or Sweden, even when there were rumors about her being drafted to either league at a reasonably high position. It's not even that she's particularly scared of answering incorrectly or angering people - she has no problem being honest in an interview, after all - it's the expectation that she has to set a good example for any impressionable kids that are watching hockey in Atlanta. In general, she likes to think of herself as a good person, but being "good" is different than being a good role model. In lots of ways, she's still maturing herself, and at times she feels like she's a blind person leading other blind people. From time to time, it's also frustrating for her to watch others around the league who are a bit less careful about what they say or products they endorse do interviews or obtain sponsorships. RE: S79 PT #1: All Of The Lights - hockeyfan - 10-17-2024 1. Ace Lightning is a rebel and there is no two ways about it. I guess he must have done something to get in the bad books of the GM, and it was likely the time he logged on to WWE 2K24 and beat the socks off McGriddle on an online match, only to pull the mask off at the end to reveal it was in fact him who did it. The GM does not like being embarrassed on an online forum and has now decided to make Lightning change all the bulbs himself. This is a perfect time to show the team his loyalty and respect, as well as apologize for being so good at the graps. Luckily in a past life Ace Lightning was a cowboy, so he grabbed his lasso and lasso’d the bulbs off their holder with great wrist strength. Then he paid an intern 10 dollars to get up on the ladder and screw the new ones in themselves. RE: S79 PT #1: All Of The Lights - JohnFranklinKennedy - 10-17-2024 I think my GM has had a repeated and continuous lapse in his judgement here. All I did to make him mad was use lightbulbs as dodgeballs to play a fun game of "dodgebulb" with the locker room pals. I think he saw the humorous irony in my punishment for throwing lightbulbs being forcing me to change all the lightbulbs in the arena, but you know this was probably a really stupid idea on his part. All he did was give me more ammo. First thing I do to start my "punishment" is call up the homies, you already know what's happening. All of the lightbulbs that were purchased for use in the stadium will instead be chucked back and forth by professional athletes as a fun game activity. We're not wearing clothes either that's cheating you gotta be able to feel the lightbulb shatter on you, no armor allowed. I fuckin love playing dodgebulb RE: S79 PT #1: All Of The Lights - Tate - 10-17-2024 Written Option 1: So, it's the weekend before opening night, and out of nowhere, Blade Hunter ends up with the job of changing every single one of those lights. Why? Well, let me take you back a couple of days. See, the truth is, I accidentally ticked off the GM. I was in the locker room after practice, cracking some jokes with the boys, when someone brought up how tight the GM’s been lately about spending. So, without thinking I start saying stuff like, "Maybe we should start buying our own pucks," or, "He’s probably gonna have us renting our skates next." You know, typical locker room banter. Well, turns out, the GM overheard me. And even though it was all in good fun, he wasn’t having it. The next day, I get called into his office, and he’s all serious, telling me I need to "watch my attitude." I’m thinking it’ll blow over, but then suddenly, I’m getting assigned the job to swap out every fricken bulb in the stadium. Coincidence? I don’t think so. Now, do I refuse? Nah, man, that ain’t me. If they want to throw some petty punishment my way, I’ll take it. So there I am, spending the whole weekend changing out those lights, one by one. It's not easy, either. Those stadium lights are high up, and I'm no electrician, but I figure it out. Got a couple of the guys laughing at me, but hey, it’s better than sitting at home fuming about it. As I’m up there on those ladders, I’m thinking, maybe I’ll use this to my advantage. I mean, the GM’s watching, probably expecting me to throw a fit, butI get the job done. No complaints, no attitude. It’s not like they can hold this over my head later, right? So I put my head down and grind through it. By Sunday night, the stadium’s lit up, and I walk out of there knowing I did what I had to do. Let the GM throw what he wants at me and I’ll take it in stride. But come opening night? I’ll be back on the ice, ready to light up the game like those brand new bulbs above me. RE: S79 PT #1: All Of The Lights - chetib - 10-17-2024 Written Option 1: Just before opening night a new law gets signed that requires every light on the stadium to be changed to led bulbs. And it just so happens that your player had angered the GM only few days ago so they do the only reasonable thing and make it your players job to change the bulbs, over the weekend. What did your player do to anger the GM? Was it intentional, accident, did they get framed or is it just a misunderstanding? How does your player perform the task? Or do they just outright refuse? First off it wasn't his intention to anger the GM, arena staff, fans, local politicians, and his team mates but Tibuk was just trying to make a point that the current lights are extremely inefficient and that it might be best to make this a priority for us as a culture to move forward with embracing little things to benefit our carbon footprint. Additionally having a higher upfront cost results in a lower bill 15-20 years down the road because the bulbs won't need to be replaced again. I do think that once the media got a hold of those comments and they went through social media like wildfire that things got carried away. There was no way he intended to call the state governor lazy or uncaring to ecological issues and didn't expect the knee jerk reaction to mandate all bulbs be replaced with LEDs but sometimes change just needs to happen! You know what? now that I've changed them, i don't think I like them that much.... (169 words) RE: S79 PT #1: All Of The Lights - BANACKOCK - 10-17-2024 Writing 1 It’s not very often that a player can piss their GM off so bad that they’re made doing horrible things. You might slack off a little bit and be be skated at The next practice, or you might even be held off the lines and sitting in the bench to watch a game. Those are very terrible things for a player, however, it seems like we’ve had a new height in the SHL. Recently, Texas renegades player wolf was seen partying late out at night, enjoying the new scenery. Coming over from New Orleans, Texas, it’s quite the change and he was enjoying himself. While he is a disciplined and behaved player, he was seen having lots of drinks, talking to lots of girls and partying hard-core. He was pictured outside of a limousine having an amazing time. Texas is currently a very strong team and discipline is required to continue the trajectory towards the top and hopefully a final appearance. While it might not have been big, the GM wasn’t happy and had to teach the player lesson. He was then seen changing out all the lightbulbs in the arena for LED ones. It was required by the league, and to teach a lesson, it was probably the best way to do it because there’s a lot of damn lightbulbs in that place. Needless to say, I don’t think they will be doing that again but if they do decide too, we heard the league will be changing all the toilets to the ones that squirt your bum with water (no thanks). RE: S79 PT #1: All Of The Lights - KaleSalad - 10-17-2024 Option 1: Cale got in the ear of the GM with complaining about his new position on the team. He wanted to help the team out by swapping to be a defender but is now questioning his deployment in that he was not playing with his longtime bestie Barca. The rumor was that the debate got heated up and now with the GM assigning the team to change all the lights there is a belief that this heated debate would be most reasonable explanation as to why! Though Cale still holds to “his truth” being a spirited discussion he believes he is being held as a scapegoat for an owner who just is trying to be cheap and save on the labor costs of paying employees overtime to get the lights installed in time for the season opener. Though I think Cale got the last laugh when he convinced the team to install the lights in wrong so the GM would have to play extra overtime to the staff to get them in right.
