Teddy Cuddles Announces That S51 Will Be His Last - trella - 11-06-2019
Teddy Cuddles, after 13 long seasons in the SHL has announced that S51, which will be his 14th season will be his last. The hard-nosed winger surpassed 500 points and 2000 hits in S50 in another solid season with the Blizzard.
Playing such a physical game over the seasons has taken a toll on his body and his game is beginning to fall off. He’s lost a step. Over the seasons, Cuddles has had some close calls with injury and this has caused him to want to hang up the skates.
Cuddles is quoted saying, “My father was and still is a rock in my life. I love hockey and it has been the biggest part of my life over the past 13 seasons, but family comes first. I can’t imagine the man I would be today if I didn’t have my father, and I can’t stand to think that if I keep going on the ice I might not be able to be there for my son Ambacas and my wife Sam. So it’s with a heavy heart that I retire from this game but I’ve put a lot of thought into it and I really think it’s what’s best for my family and me.”
Cuddles has been a pillar for the Edmonton Blizzard over the past 10+ seasons and has been a part of their front office since he was brought in from Calgary after the S36 Entry Draft. With one season still left to go, Cuddles has accumulated 523 points and 2017 hits over the span of 650 games. He has also been awarded 2 Challenge Cups, 1 Richan Trophy, 1 Razov Trophy, 2 Dar Nominations, 1 Kahn Nomination, 1 Razov Nomination, a 1st Team All Star, a 2nd Team All Star, and a Gold and Silver Medal playing for the United States. Cuddles has cemented himself firmly in Blizzard history, currently sitting at 3rd in points and 1st in hits in franchise history.
I’d like to thank @JKortesi81 and @TML99 for signing me all the way back in S35. If I wasn’t a part of that great Scarecrows team I don’t think I would be as invested in this league or any other league. You guys are what really started it all off for me and I am very thankful. I’d also like to thank @bluesfan55 , @dizzyDC , and @thedangazone for being the best juniors teammates I could have ever asked for.
I’d also like to thank @Ace , @karlssens , @Keygan , and @tommysalami for being the best GMs and friends I could ask for during my time in Edmonton. There is no team that I would have rather spent my whole career with. I’d also like to thank all my teammates throughout the seasons, especially @ckroyal92 , @caltroit_red_flames , @Leafs4ever , @ErM , @Muford , @iOBESE , @Mack , @jRuutu , @Blastmeaway , @sarmo , @"James Truong" , @Julio Tokolosh , @CampinKiller and so many more. You guys have made every season a delight and really kept me in this.
Lastly, I’d like to thank all my friends that are not my teammates, the guys I talk to every day and play games with and voice chat with all the time. @SlashACM , @luketd , @FuzzSHL , @Clint Eastwood , @Nictox , @esilverm, @efiug , @nykonax , @Serpe x 13 , @Scrufdaddy , @MyLittleHexx , @nour , @Gwdjohnson , @dmills3 and @Pingy Pingu. I have so many more people to thank but I’m not going to tag the whole site, so thanks to everyone else who has made this site and this experience awesome for me.
Teddy Cuddles’ son, Ambacas Cuddles will be declaring the S52 Draft. A massive defensive defenseman, Ambacas Cuddles will be a force to be reckoned with on the back end and will hopefully lead the charge of the next wave of defensive defenseman.

Trella, you were my first FA signing ever when I became Co-GM in STL (or damn close to it) and it’s been a pleasure to watch you become a real bad ass SHLer. I loved winning the cup with you in S45. Great career man. You done good.

Teddy Cuddles is one of those players who's name was one I always saw when I looked through indexes. I remembered being in awe the first time I realised that you were Teddy Cuddles, it was like I was meeting a celebrity. Good luck in your final season and good luck with your next player. Hall of Fame worth in my opinion, and if you don't end up there you will always be the in the efiug hall of fame (which some would consider to be an even higher honour).
