Finland announces WJC roster - puolivalmiste - 11-09-2019 It is my pleasure as GM for season 50 WJC to announce that following players will be playing for Team Finland. Last season we finished sixth and even after losing some of our veteran players to age limitations we have team full of young players that are hungry to prove themselves and look to at least repeat what we achieved last season. This season team will be led from the front. Michael Fitted ( C ) @Fitted2106 Carolina Kraken's young center who joined after draft during season 49 and has been playing in fourth line for one of most stacked teams SMJHL had this season. He scored 7 goals and 8 assists in 50 games while playing only about 10 minutes for game and will get his time to shine in bigger role for team Finland. Kaarlo Kekkonen ( A ) @dankoa This Detroit Falcons winger showed early that he will be one of top rookies of his class and finishing season with 21 points earned him 7th spot on top scoring rookies. He recorded 9 goals and 12 assists in 50 games he played on Detroits top line, expect him to be one of top scorers for Finland. Ebenezer Virtanen ( A ) @Zeddez Just like Fitted, Virtanen also joined the SMJHL after draft had been done, only a season later. This Kelowna Knights center has improved greatly during his rookie season and while recording 1 goal and 3 assists in his 34 games of the season isn't going to get you into talks about rookie of the year future looks bright for this young center. Ville Virta @CKT Another player to join during this season. Virta is a natural center that has been playing as winger on 4th line of Detroit Falcons for 36 games recording a goal and an assist for his rookie campaign while playing very low minutes. Timmo Kyllonen @Lemonade This WJC veteran center had another good season with Halifax Raiders scoring 14 goals and 18 assists in 50 games and brings good amount of experience to lineup. Heikki Jaakola @Dhafol Like Fitted, Jaakola has been part of Kraken's lower lines and scoring 6 goals and had 7 assists during last season. Jukka Jokinen @jtp After playing on Anaheim Outlaws for a season Jokinen has moved back to Finland. Sami Votto @Vanilla Price Trying to break into Kelowna Knight roster few seasons ago but after it did not work for him also moved back to Finland. Björn Leppänen @puolivalmiste Leppänen played his second season with Vancouver Whalers recording 1 goal and 12 assists while playing mostly in first and second pair with lots of penalty kill responsibilities. Jaakko Järvinen @Clintafernious Järvinen played 39 games in which he recorded 1 goal and 13 assists with Halifax Raiders before he was traded to Anaheim outlaws where he continued his good play with 6 more assists on 11 games. Victor Toeman @pizzarony Toeman played for Vancouver Whalers on second pair for most of the season but was later moved to role of extra defense when playoffs were getting closer. He recorded a goal and 3 assist in 50 games he played. White Goodman @Jearim At goal we have man as Good and as White as one can be. This rookie goalie who played on loan for team Finland during last WJC, joins now as full member of the team. Goodman had 9-5-1 record for his first season in SMJHL for Vancouver Whalers. He had 0.876 save% and 2.97 GAA in games he played during regular season and has improved greatly since we last time saw him play for Finland. Olli Saarinen, Jr. @prettyburn As latest addition to Finnish roster we have Olli Saarinen, Jr. This promising young goalie will be watched closely by SMJHL scouts as they get great opportunity to see Saarinen play on SMJHL level before the draft. Also following skaters that decided to play in Finnish Mestaruussarja instead of pursuing SMJHL career.
