#LeeOut - StampedeFanTV - Trautner - 12-15-2019 Code: 1003 words Buffalo, NY 12/15/2019 6:00pm EST -- The clock has struck midnight on Stampede fans' patience with the struggles of their hockey franchise. Before the Buffalo Stampede's home game against the Toronto North Stars today, fans voiced their displeasure with team GM WannaBeFinn's performance as the acting coach of the team. Although the team has seen a slight upturn in their recent form, winning 4 of their last 5 games to this point, the Stampede remain distinctly out of the playoff picture, a massive disappointment for the team which had high hopes for competing for the Presidents' Trophy as well as the Challenge Cup in this 51st season. The scene pre-game was, to use a singular word to describe it, chaotic. An organized protest led by the Buffalo Stampede "ultras", the most passionate and demanding fans in the fanbase, quickly grew out of hand before the game. As the protest grew more and more rowdy, the sound of a biplane roaring through the sky, low overhead above the arena, pierced the sky and drowned out all the sound: ![]() A clear statement from the fanbase that they want Lee, the moniker that WannaBeFinn uses, out of the organization's upper management. Fans cheered as the plane screamed overhead, making several passes by the stadium before landing at a nearby airstrip. Of course, the protest outside the arena wasn't solely full of #LeeOut supporters. No, some fans have remained faithful to the Stampede's longtime general manager, insisting that the team's poor run of form in recent weeks is certain to come to an end, and that the team will imminently begin to go on a run that will carry them hot into the playoffs and ready to contend for a Challenge Cup. In a league that's increasingly become "what have you done for me lately", the debate rages hotly amongst the Stampede fanbase on whether or not Lee should be given more time at the helm of the franchise. Let's dive down to the street level and go into some of the interviews we conducted with some of the Stampede's most passionate, loyal, and fiery supporters. Interviewer: Hello there! What do you think of Lee's job security given the poor run of form the Stampede have had this season? Does the recent upturn in results change your opinion at all? Claude: Interviewer: I see that the results in the past week haven't made an impression on you. Claude: The Buffalo Stampede organization and fanbase deserves better than the leadership that Lee currently brings to the table. Yes, we have had good times with Lee at the helm. And we thank him for those good times. He built a wonderful team that brought championships to Buffalo, and we are eternally grateful. However, it is rather clear that Lee doesn't have the mojo anymore. His tactics are outdated. The league has advanced without him, and we are left with a coach who is incapable of adapting to modern times. Look at the roster he's built. It's a wonderful roster, full of talented skaters. The performance on the ice hasn't been there, though. Why? Because of the coaching and the tactics. There is no cohesion on the ice. Lee, thank you for the good times. But as I've said before, and I will continue to say, it's time to go! Interviewer: Do you think that firing the coach mid-season, with a playoff spot still on the line, is the right approach? Claude: With a playoff spot still in reach, it is ever the more imperative that this organization takes action and takes Lee out of its leadership core. If we can bring in a right proper coach, with the ability to inspire the players, and bring some actual real tactics to our game, we can not only challenge for the playoff spot but also look to push on and try to win the division. Look, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that it's our tactics that are letting us down. Our team is talented, we're full of veterans and rising young talent, but the results aren't there. And there's only one man to blame for that, and it's Lee. Interviewer: And what about Tomen? Do you think he deserves some of the slice of blame for this season's poor results to this point? Claude: Absolutely not. Tomen is the heart and soul of the Buffalo franchise, and it would be wrong to blame him for any part of the team's performance to this point. Look, it's clear to any observer that the wood rots from the top, and that's with Lee. Lee's inability to lead this team is infecting all parts of the play and the organization itself. Buffalo is a big team, and big teams need to hold themselves to higher expectations than smaller teams. And a big team doesn't shy away from making tough decisions, and not letting emotions play any part into those decisions. Tomen is a great leader, but with Lee as part of the upper management, he renders him useless. Once we get rid of Lee, all our problems will be solved, on and off the ice. A riveting interview from the streets outside the arena here in Buffalo, and certainly a lot of passion held amongst the fanbase, who are really passionate about the team and are looking at all avenues to get an edge in order to get into the playoffs and begin to perform closer to expectations this season. It seems evident that the fanbase is increasingly becoming frustrated with poor results. After this loss to Toronto today, fans sang out in unison: Certainly, frustrations are boiling over, and the result today did not send the fans home any happier. We'll go live again from outside the arena here in Buffalo in about a week from now, to see if results have improved. As of now, the consensus seems clear: the #LeeOut movement has begun.
