Aweful News from Austria - CptSquall - 02-15-2020 It is with heavy hearts that an announcement has come from Austria. Baron Von Hecht has passed away from a stroke, he was 67. He played 562 games in the Austrian Hockey Association (ASA) and 133 games in the Deutsch Eisen Hockey Leaguen (DEHL) and is an honoured member of the Austrian Ice Hockey Hall of Fame. Baron spent many years coaching in Austria as well, helping push Salzburg to 3 trophies and earning one with Vienna as well. Furthermore he was an assistant General Manager in the Simulation Hockey League spending 65 games as bench boss for the Kelowna Knights, earning a Mathias Chouinard trophy as part of the best GM tandem with Axel Dark. He also spent seven seasons as bench boss for the Austrian National Team, helping motivate them to 3 Bronze medals and a world ranking of 1st. Baron is preceded by his wife Elise who past just a year ago and is succeeded by his sons Franz (47) and Otto (45) who are fitness trainers for the Austrian National Team.
