Minor Improvement to Bank Amount Fields - kenvald - 07-13-2020

I caught some users talking about a frustration with the amount fields when submitting bank transactions. It's not as easy as it should be to see what amount or how many zeros you've inputted.

So I'm happy to present to you: Commas!

It's out there already, so have fun!

If you find any issues with the amount fields please send me a message here on the forum or through Discord.

Non-issue. I was already counting the zeros in my head as I was typing them.

1000000 - one million

100000000 - one hundred million

10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 - one googol (okay, I might have copy-pasted but there are 100 zeros I swear!)

Ha. Take that! Useless update that doesn't fix anything.

I'm not sure if it's intended that way but this seems like a very mean spirited comment towards someone trying to improve the site.

Yes. Change it back. No one wants commas invading their precious digits. I love numbers. I do not love commas.

Eh, just how I think of numbers it seems. Generally I don't need commas to keep track of very large numbers until maybe the trillions or so, so typing out something like "38520833" for example automatically reads as "thirty-eight million five hundred twenty thousand eight hundred thirty-three" for me after maybe half a second of mentally separating things out as "38 520 833". But that's just me and how I have learned to read these. :-/.

Good stuff. Glad to see my code wasn't too terrible to add onto it.

Bruh this took them like a year, your code was that bad

RE: Minor Improvement to Bank Amount Fields - TheHockeyist - 07-13-2020

I think that in my time as a numerically-inclined media grader, I didn't make any errors with the number of zeros - I didn't need the commas. If I did, it was an "off by a magnitude of ten" error. E.g. I thought "100000", typed "10000" by accident, and submitted an incorrect amount. I would have just sent in another request for 90000 to correct it. Would have only occurred once, maybe twice in a worst-case scenario when it did happen. Not sure. It's been too long, but at least for me, it really wasn't an issue. Just my own thoughts.

Maybe it would better for some. Dunno. For me at least, it would mostly serve as confirmation that I did enter the correct amount, maybe shaving a few seconds off of my time at best. At least for me, it's not worth it. Might be for some, but really, just my opinion.

Just saying.
