(Graded) S56 Deep Dive #1- Colorado Raptors - Demolish - 09-26-2020

For my first deep dive article I wanted to get my feet wet with a team I am more comfortable with, why not dive in head first into the Colorado Raptors.
Losing out in the second round of the playoffs last season to the Kelowna Knights stung a little as they had some high aspirations knowing that the teams core would lose some key members to call ups.  Their quest for the Four Star Cup will have to go on without the following players:

Departures:
LW- Sven Svenson     | 50gp | 27g | 20a | 47pts | +9    (425 capped build) called up to San Francisco Pride
LW- Carlos Brown     | 50gp | 19g | 13a | 32pts | +4    (425 capped build) called up to Atlanta Inferno
RD- Anrijs Asts         | 50gp |   4g | 17a | 21pts | +14   (425 capped build) free agent looking for contract
LD- Bradley Barkov  | 50gp |   2g | 13a | 15pts | +14   (425 capped build) called up to Calgary Dragons
LD- Bryce Turner      | 50gp |    3g | 11a | 14pts | +1     (388 build) called up to Baltimore Platoon
LW- William Hunt     | 10gp |    0g |  2a |   2pts | -2       (159 build free agent released)

The majority of those positions will be filled by newly drafted rookies who without losing any respect towards them are some 150 plus TPE away from meeting their former line mates.  But as a well oiled machine, the Raptors have drafted well and will continue to see their share of success and improvement this season regardless of these losses mentioned earlier.

They have progressing through their system some top caliber players: season 54 center Jean-Uhtred Ragnarsson-Tremblay or "JURT" for short (425 capped), season 55 center Mack Daddy (425 capped) and also center Lord Raiden (425 capped), season 55 winger Asclepius Perseus Flitterwind also know as "AFP" (425 capped) and  Guðmundur Kristjánsson better known as "Godmother" (425 capped).  We can also add winger Juni Panda who is almost capped, playing with a 422 build at the moment who will surely hit the 425 mark in no time.  Lets not count out last season rookies who had a great development year and are either already playing with a 350 capped build or will soon be.

So needless to say that lack of offensive production is the least of their worries, on the other hand, taking a look at the defensive core is a little more urgent.  Having but two 425 build defenseman is worry some, Aumy Jr. and "Big Terry" Smith will carry the workload for the most part as Mosely continues to develop  and gain experience and tpe.   Thats 50% of the defensive make-up, the other 50% are all out rookies playing with just about 200 tpe builds!

This will be challenging to say the least, as their former number one goalie Marcel Laflamme (230 tpe) has been almost inactive as of late, being pro active to the situation, the organization turned on a dime and drafted his successor in Yanno Rosejac.  Drafted 21st overall in the most recent SMJHL draft, the pressure is on to perform and deliver.  Will the high octane Raptor offense sustain a vulnerable and fragile defensive core with a rookie goal tender?   Time will tell!
