[Name Redacted] Reminisces on his time in the WJC - Skeleton Party - 11-11-2020 Code: 523 words [Name Redacted] Reminisces on his time in the WJC [Name Redacted] has a ton of fond memories of his time in the WJC. When he came into the league in S53, [Name Redacted] was quite the notorious figure, and he wasn’t sure any international team was going to want him on their roster. Quite a few people were not happy with him, culminating in the redaction of his name, so he wasn’t sure anyone was going to want to share a locker room with him. With a mostly great rookie season in the SMJHL, however, Team World was happy to scoop him up into their ranks at the end of S53. He still maintains that Team World is the best LR in the WJC by far. Made a ton of friends there and was very happy to try and earn his Vancouver Whalers teammate Dextaria some WJC bling. He put forth Baba Yetu as a suggestion for a goal horn, which for the next few seasons would be a rallying cry for for the team. Unfortunately, that first year did not end in any form of success, with World bowing out in the quarterfinals, but [Name Redacted] met a lot of great people and had a ton of fun and was excited to return the following year. The second year in S54 seemed to be a step forward for Team World roster-wise. There were quite a few maxed out players who slipped through the cracks of their respective nations and Team World capitalized on bringing them in. Much of the core was the same and the GM Dextaria had more experience with FHM so hopes were high. The same result, unfortunately, but the locker room again was quite kickass and [Name Redacted] befriended quite a few people he would never have had interactions with otherwise. Following WJC, [Name Redacted] was contacted by management for Czechia in the IIHF with an invitation to transfer to the team. He jumped at the chance, as a lot of his Manhattan teammates were all there. This meant that the following year in S55 he would be playing for team UCORCAL. While a much quieter locker room, the calibur of players overall was much higher, with a much larger group of Junior players to pick from. SparkyDee was a master tactician, and through his power and Thor Odinson holding down the fort for a large portion of the tournament, UCORCAL would go on to grab gold and give [Name Redacted] his first real award of his career, defeating team Canada by a huge margin in the finals. Finally, in S56, [Name Redacted] would reprise his role in net. While they had a very successful round robin, the wheels came off in the semifinals, and [Name Redacted] was chased after letting in an abysmal 4 on 13 shots. He feels great regret for letting his team down this way, and is upset that his foray into the WJC ends on such a sour note. Overall, [Name Redacted] is extremely proud of his accomplishments in junior international play and looks forward to IIHF play in the future with Team Czechia. It was great to have such an amazing World team to GM for 2 seasons. Although the team has changed quite a bit in these couple of seasons, I think you left a big mark with Baba Yetu that's still played this season. Congrats on gold with UCORCAL last season as Sato will soon pack up his time with the WJC as well RE: [Name Redacted] Reminisces on his time in the WJC - TheSparkyDee - 11-13-2020 @Skeleton Party you were a great keep to have and you were the reason we won the gold in S55!
