Edmonton Blizzard/Budget Team/Head Office Punishment - nour - 01-02-2021
Hey there SHL Community,
Yesterday it came to the attention of the SHL Head Office that the Edmonton Blizzard have been operating this season over the salary cap limit. The Blizzard neglected to factor in the cap retained after cutting GOD McZehrl ($2,500,000), as well as Kyle Sutton's contract ($3,500,000), resulting in them being $6,000,000 over the cap. There were a lot of missteps beyond the GMs that resulted in this being caught this late, hence the slightly messy title.
Starting with Edmonton, the SHL Rulebook states the following in regards to being over the salary cap:

If a team spends more than their Salary Cap allows, they will be issued a cap fine equal to twice the amount of the surplus towards the following season’s cap. (Section 1, Subsection C, Article 6)Per this rule, Edmonton will be fined $12,000,000 to their Salary Cap for the S58 season.
In addition to this, in order to get cap compliant for this season, and not enter the playoffs with an illegal budget, the Edmonton Blizzard will be cutting Eric Vanderberg, Chico Smeb, and SMJHL Prospect Bane. Head Office is allowing them to make 2 emergency signings with the extra $1,000,000 this gives them in order to reach the roster minimum.
Next, turning our attention to the budget team, this is an issue that should have been caught if the budget had been a little bit better kept this season, and catching it earlier would have also made it a lot easier to resolve, as catching it this late resulted in Edmonton not being able to make trades to become cap compliant.
Due to issues with the budget this season, @Dextaria will be lose $4,000,000 from his pay this season.
Finally turning attention to SHL Head Office, Luke stepped forward to take a pay fine as well due to missing this infraction when he checked the budgets at the beginning of the season while approving GM Tasks. @luketd will be deducted half his pay this season, totaling $2,000,000.
This was a tough one to iron out but I want to thank @Keygan for being so compliant and helpful in us reaching a resolution during this awkward time this was caught. As with all punishments, everyone involved here reserves the right to submit appeals to the site owners.
